The Vintage Car Club had a good day at Mount Dasher Woolshed on Saturday 21st February. 45 cars entered.

There is nothing scheduled at this stage for the club night of the 4th March (I could demonstrate using vinyl wrap on interior trim, Graeme)

Committee night is the 18th March.

I had a ring from Richard Potts in Auckland last week, enquiring about a Chevrolet car 1960. It was owned by a local member of the VCC and sold about 10 years ago.

Offers and Expressions of Interest

The me has come to move on Keith and Kathleens car collec on. Dad passed away 10 years ago, and Mum is moving off the farm. The cars need to be used, and this is currently not happening. More photos of the cars are available on request. Please send any enquiries or offers to Mar n Perry via email at m.perry@mirak.co.nz. The family will ul mately make the decision on where each part of this family heritage will go, Mum of course has the deciding vote.

Original car was a tourer and thought to be an Otago Daily Times car from Central Otago, parts were collected by the late Bill Piddington. Rebodied as a Roadster when restored in 1999 due to Keith already owning a tourer. The motor was originally built by Rob Ross of Ashburton, then later recondi oned with aluminium pistons and new handmade white metal bearings by Peter Shaskey of Christchurch. The large capacity 4 cylinder motors well for its age and it has a ended many Na onal South Island Easter Rallies, South Island Club Captain’s Tours and Dunedin to Brighton Rallies as well as North Otago Branch events. Registered, warranted and running motor vehicle.

Older restora on completed in 1972. Complete vehicle history known. Thought to be the first car in Waimate, owned by Dr Pi s. Tourer style body rebuilt by Les Marshall. 1100cc motor has a modern (for the age) oiling system using a sump and oil pump. The motor was originally built using the factory steel pistons, a rebuild with aluminium pistons was completed some years later (date unknown). This is a well known vehicle that was motored all over New Zealand by Keith and Kathleen. Prime Minister of the day Bill Rowling even graced the passenger’s seat at one stage. Registered, warranted and running motor vehicle.

1926 Ford Modet ‘T’ ‘New Beauty’

This Model T is the first car bought by Keith, one of the first cars in the NOVCC, and took part in the opening Windsor Rally in 1961. This car has never had a full restora on but has seen various parts interchanged during its life.

Offers around $10 000 will be considered.

1948 Ford Mercury

Unrestored original survivor car. No rust, original dry car which has been garaged throughout know ownership. Motor recondi oned approximately 20 years ago(??). Starts, runs and drives very nicely. Original upholstery and hood lining in good condi on for age.

Offers over $20 000 will be considered.

1974

Ford XB Falcon 6 Cyl Auto

Single family car. Originally bought brand new from Knights Motors in Oamaru by Keith’s Father (Victor Perry). Sold to Victor by Noel Perry, Keith’s brother. Purchased from Victor’s estate by Keith around 2000. This was the first XB Falcon sold in Oamaru. It is a NZ assembled vehicle with some Australian op ons including the bench seat, and speedo in KPH. This car is almost completely original; the only modifica on was the fi ng of power steering by Victor when the manual steering became too heavy. The upholstery, carpet, paint, motor and running gear are all untouched and in very good condi on due to being garaged all its life. The odometer currently ready 72 680ks, it is going up slightly with limited use. Power steering box was recondi oned for the last warrant of fitness. Registered and warranted motor vehicle.

Price is firm at $40 000.

Mid Month Run

John Gale had organised for us, an enjoyable run out to the Glencoe reserve camping ground, ( in behind Herbert). Very pleasant spot for our picnic afternoon tea. We travelled there via Beach road, and Waianakarua road ( checking the progress on the new Kakanui bridge on the way ), coming onto SH1 at the Mill house, then up the Herbert hill to our destination. A great way to spend an afternoon, thank you John.

John's comment, It's been months since I bought the book, How to scam people online. It still hasn't arrived yet!
