Chairman’s Report
For those of you who did not attend our last club night you missed a very entertaining and informative talk by Murray Frew who had spent several weeks visiting WW1/WW11 war memorial and burial sites across France and nearby countries.
Our next club night scheduled for 5th August, St John are running a 3 steps for life training session. This session will train people in the correct use of an AED (Defibulator) and I would urge all members to attend if only to watch. Even that would help if you ever actually need to use such devices. Our AED located in the entrance has been available for use for some months now, logged in the ‘find an AED’ app and with emergency services. This is Boy Scout training, ‘Be prepared’ and with luck, neither your newly acquired knowledge nor our AED will ever be required to be used. 7:30pm at our club rooms.
Saturday 8th August is the SCVCC garage raid. We are to meet at the Temuka RSA at 130 King St (The old main Rd) For those who have yet to let me know please do so by Wednesday the 5th of August at the latest as the crew require estimated numbers for catering. It’s the normal fare and you will need $15 cash. This covers morning tea and lunch. Carpooling is recommended.
We running up to the VCC national day (Daffodil rally) and as I have said before our branch will not be participating in our own right. I remind members that the Waimate branch are holding three separate events for our national day. They have a scooter run scheduled for Saturday 15th August then a car show the following Saturday 22nd followed that evening by a quiz night at their club rooms.
In line with the committee’s recommendation I ask any member able to partake in any of these events to please do so and support our neighbour club and the cancer society.

July's mid month run
John had arranged for us a lunch run, so we left the Club rooms earlier than usual, at 11am and headed to Weston, then thousand acre road and beach road to Kakanui, carrying on the the coast road to SHW1 at Waianakarua. We then drove down the highway to Moeraki for our lunch stop at the Moeraki Tavern where we enjoyed a lovely meal, great atmosphere and great company.
