Chairmans report May 2025
This month I am sitting down to write my report following a very enjoyable club run to a hot rod shop just outside Tauranga. It was very inspiring to see the variety of jobs they had on the go and certainly helped me to find a little motivation to push on with my own projects. My projects aren’t quite on the same level (or budget) as some of the wonderful creations that we saw in work at Henrys Rod Shop however like a lot of our club members I enjoy doing as much as I can in my own shed.
Sunday’s run also gave me an opportunity to get our 1985 Holden Vacationer wagon out for a good long drive and it was great to finally get the car out with the club again. The Holden has been in the shed for a few months while I worked on putting together a new engine and installing a 4-speed automatic transmission. The kids also got involved with this project and it was fun to have them all in the shed with me putting the new engine together. The car ran very well and the 4-speed transmission with overdrive certainly made it nice cruising on the open road. I have included a few pictures with my report. Those with a keen eye may notice the alloy cylinder head and roller rockers. Maybe don’t try racing this wagon at the traffic lights……
Finally, a reminder of our upcoming AGM. It would be great to have as many members in attendance as possible this year. Firstly, for a social pot luck dinner and then of course for the AGM. If you are keen to take on a role in the club, please feel free to put your name forward. The contribution made by our club officers, our committee and those who hold other positions is certainly appreciated by all our branch members so please get involved if you can help out.
