BOPCVCC COMMITTEE UPDATE
At the February 2026 committee meeting a new valued volunteer position of Run Coordinator was established to guide and assist any club member wishing to set up a mid month or end of month run. Elwyn Pirie has stepped into this role and we encourage any member, new or old, to discuss with Elwyn ( 0274 914600) a place of interest to visit or to create a run.
Members, your input is required.
MID MONTH RUN TO ROSS BROS CAR AND MACHINERY MUSEUM
WEDNESDAY 11TH. FEBRUARY
A number of us intrepid souls departed the clubrooms on a cloudy morning for the run over the Kaimai’s to Cambridge to view what turned out to be an exceptional museum of muscle cars, race cars, motor bikes, veteran cars, vintage cars and classic cars together with a collection of huge earthmoving and logging machinery and trucks, all for a donation entry fee, very well worth the visit!
Before entering the museum, we had lunch and refreshments at the Good Union eatery, very yummy!
As a bonus, the weather on the trip turned out to be sunny and hot.
I hope that there will be a return trip with a full compliment of members to view this fantastic venue.

ED’S RAMBLINGS
A reminder that the spare pages at the back of the membership booklet are there for you to make additions and subtractions as listed in the Klaxon membership updates.
It has been mentioned to me and I feel the same, that, despite the weather, there has been a lot going on with VCC rallies around the country, not that that is a bad thing as is something to look forward too and enjoy.
A large number of our members have therefor, been away, making the most of these rallies and I have gratefully received articles and photos from those participating. (envious here)
On home ground, we are lucky to still have members left who are willing to get out and enjoy the fantastic runs put on by our organisers.
With the new appointment of Elwyn Pirie (he who always puts his hand up) as run co-ordinator, I look forward to some future runs being instigated by anyone who feel they have a destination to go to, whether a picnic, café or place of interest, so in best army style, step forward guys, you have been volunteered.
I see in this coming month that Clubrooms Movie Night is back on the agenda and I will get my A into G and find another politically incorrect DVD for us to enjoy. For those that have not been to a movie night, the program is that the clubrooms open at 6pm to enjoy a BYO meal with optional wine before the movie starts at 7pm. An ice cream intermission is served part way through the evening. See you there.
The February Nog & Natter meal at The Rain Bar, Papamoa was the first of the year get together for these regular events with about eighteen of us enjoying a great meal and conversation. Next Nog & Natter takes place at the Citizens Club, Tauranga in March, so come along and enjoy a social meal.
I had a note appear that we have a couple of members who are in hospital and are bored out of their trees. If you have the time to spare then please visit these members, I’m sure they will be so grateful. Contact either Donn White or Michael Thorman for updates.
March club night should be a fun evening with the nutting-out of an “on-line” promotional name to entice the younger generation into our “oldies” scheme of things. Our official name will stay the same (it’s set in concrete) and within reason, no over the top ’saucy’ names to be accepted.
I have been designated computer/video operator for the evening so no throwing of eggs please!!!!! Finally, the club rooms have again been ‘tagged’ by our friendly people. Fortunately member Paul Paap has ensured the cleanup. Many thanks Paul.
