Wednesday Run Report 17 vehicles with 40 people took part in the run which took in Warepa and Lochindorb country. A cuppa back in Balclutha was enjoyed.

September 2018 16 members attended the August meeting night. Reports on the AGM in Napier, National Daffodil Run Fundraiser, Annual Dinner and Combined Rally were given. Thanks to Bill Falconer and Ian McDonald for the Ladies and Gents toilet upgrade. Roger Smaill presented with the Mel Tapp Tankard for Services to the Club. The upcoming Targa Rally is to be starting and finishing on the Hillend Road near to Roger Smaill’s corner. A thankyou to Roger Smaill who has installed at hoist in his workshop and offers Club members the use of it. Contact Roger if you wish to take advantage of his offer. $190 was raised and donated for the Cancer Society from the South Otago Branch for National Daffodil Day Run held Sunday 26th Aug. 14 vehicles from the branch took part. No other local clubs attended despite invite and advertising feature in the Clutha Leader. Some visited the Tuapeka Vintage Club on the trip, the afternoon tea stop was Top Nosh in Tapanui. Thanks to all who supported. Russell Findlater’s Capri suffered a breakdown at Waiwera on the way home and was grateful for the assistance of the AA. A fire extinguisher is a handy must have item to carry in your vehicle. I reported we visited a private collection on the Gore Combined Rally incorrectly. This actually belonged to the Smith Family and we saw many Landrovers and Fords also. Many projects ahead I think. The Combined Rally for 2019 will be run by the Central Otago Branch, looking at Labour Weekend.
Robin Benington made front page news in the Clutha Leader recently on his 1941 Indian Motorcycle that he regularly uses. Well done Robin. A great ambassador for the Club.
Wednesday Run 3rd October being organised by Barrie Delaney 1 p.m. Clubrooms or 1.30 p.m. at Clarksville travelling to the Lawrence area with a cuppa there to follow. Autospectacular Report an amazing display of vehicles once again and a credit to the organisers. Barrie Allison reports he had his ’72 4 Door Escort and a ’71 RS 100 Tribute on display there. A very original 1968 Escort Deluxe belonging to local Milton lady, Hazel Finch, that was bought new in with the original sales docket still to hand made a great display and talking point. This was the first Escort sold by Milton Motors and VCC member Joe Smith did the pre delivery check on it. What a great bit of history.
Model A’s Vehicle Display – 21st September 2018 Model A’s will be on display in the Plaza area of Elizabeth St. opposite the ANZ Bank, Balclutha for public viewing between 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Last year’s display was considered the southernmost event in the world! Targa Rally 22nd October – Rally cars will be at Taylor Park in Milton for their lunch stop. Organisers have asked for a display of members vehicles please.
Annual Clutha Rally – Entry forms will be out as soon as they become available from the printers. Robin reports all in hand and looking forward to another great event.
