Wayne’s Picnic Run

Sunday 28th January 2018

Gather at the Clubrooms at 10.30 a.m. Bring your lunch and picnic needs and enjoy a day out with fellow members.

January 2018 Some extremely hot days we have had over the last few weeks with very little welcome rain sprinkled in. Hope everyone has enjoyed some family time and a break from the usual busy weeks throughout the past year. Get well wishes to those who have not been feeling the best. Events that have taken place before Christmas include the monthly meeting, South Otago and Toko. Shows, the Wednesday Run on 6th Dec. 5 vehicles provided transport for the S.O. Show being 3 Wolseleys, a Plymouth and a Model A. Thanks go to Gordon Duthie, Jay Paterson, Stuart Milne, Robin McCall and Paul McNabb for doing a splendid job. Toko Show day was very hot with not a large contingent of vintage vehicles this time. 16 vehicles with 35 people were able to go on the last Wednesday Run held on 6th December. This was a fine day with the venue for the picnic being by the river at Heriot. Neville King had his gramophone playing to make a great atmosphere as in days gone by. A visit to the West Otago Museum followed with afternoon tea at Top Nosh in Tapanui. From the December Meeting: Motorcycle Rally all organised which will be on all sealed roads, Roger Smaill reports all going well. Roger has also purchased a Moped which he looks forward to joining in on Moped Runs in the future.. Big thanks to Gaynor & Bill Falconer for the donation to the Club of a new Time Clock to be used for club events. This is very much appreciated. Club Photocopier – this has been repaired and thanks to Paul McNabb for organising this. If using, turn off on the machine before the main power switch. This should avoid future problems.

Mel Tapp reports South Otago Vintage Machinery Club Tractor Trek to include Vintage Car Club members also. Saturday 17th February 2018. Meet at the Clubrooms 10.30 a.m. Bring your lunch. Travelling to the Tuapeka Mouth Heritage Centre. To remember Bud Jarvie and his help to Club members over the years.

Following the business Robin McCall told of his adventures on his trip to South Africa. He enjoyed this immensely, saw many sights, learned how life goes on there and appreciates the safety of New Zealand.
