love and interest to preserve for future generations. The evening meal at the Croyden Hotel was enjoyed and Sunday morning was an easy field test and visit to a boat builder. Well done to the Gore Branch for all their efforts and participants for coming along from the 4 Southern Clubs.

August 2018 Frost and sunshine to start the day today. Bit tricky getting the milking machine to work this morning, water and milking cups frozen. The joys of the country life. Club members have had several outings over the last few weeks. The Wednesday Run took them to Te Houka, Clinton, Hillfoot Road and Peggydale café for afternoon tea. Gary Beaumont attended the National AGM in Napier this month. Ian McDonald and Bill Falconer have been busy in the Clubrooms and made the men’s and ladies toilet rooms safer with the alteration of the doors and wash basins. Agreed at the meeting to support the 50th A & P Show day. Drivers to dress in Vintage apparel for the special occasion. The Annual Dinner at Milton was well catered for by Kelly’s Kitchen in the Country Club. Approximately 45 people enjoyed the social time together. Congratulations to Roger Smaill for receiving the Club Captains Trophy for services to the Club. The ladies trophy going to Noeline Milne. (Time for a change next year) The Combined Rally hosted by Gore Branch saw the following members attend from South Otago Branch: Bill & Gaynor Falconer 1952 Rover, Ian & Wilma McDonald 1979 Torana, Robin & Margaret McCall 1936 Plymouth, Devon & Jeanette Baird 1978 Rolls Royce, Stuart, Noeline & Casey Milne with son Blair driving the 1967 Wolseley. The day began with picnic lunch inside the Clubrooms as it was a little cool outdoors although the sun was shining. Afternoon run instructions, short or long route given out as you left. We took the long route which took us back to Pukerau then headed towards West Otago, through Tapanui then on to Riversdale for an icecream stop then visit to the Waimea Plains Vintage Club with much to look at. A visit to a private collection at the farm of the Thompson family was a real treat. Wow, what an amazing amount of vehicles all nicely restored. A small building held Tobacco tins of every kind, another kitchen tins like baking powder etc. then a
1st September Quiz Night 7 p.m. A fun evening for all $2.00 per person Kaye and Paul McNabb are running the Quiz Night once again. Bring your sense of humour, friends, small supper plate and hopefully our general knowledge will be easily recalled or very thought provoking. Wednesday Run 5th September. Meet at the Clubrooms 1 p.m. for a run through Warepa, Glenfalloch Road and Lochindorb, returning to the Heart & Soul Café Balclutha for a cuppa. Contact a member if you would like to come along but don’t have a vehicle available, always a spare seat available. Autospectacular in Dunedin 8th September – the theme is “Summer Holidays” Targa Rally 22nd October – Rally cars will be at Taylor Park in Milton for their lunch stop. Organisers have asked for a display of members vehicles please.
