Re the working bee what a difference to the yard and I haven't seen the parts yard so tidy it is now a lot easier to find that part or basis for your next sculpture!
This space for further activity ideas How about a short night run ; our ladies doing the driving and guys a plate.? So how about a big screen and some old movies with a motoring theme? Perhaps we could host a quiz ?

Chairman’s Report for AGM 2018 This report reflects the last three years as Chairman. This is my point of view it asks some questions that hard to answer, purely of concern with the future of the club. To all those who have served on the committee over the past year I can understand the frustration however without your input the club would not operate. I start with the highlight for me. Organising and running the Autumn Festival rally. The rally numbers have increased over the past four years and the feedback has been positive It is difficult to find new roads but the atmosphere in the main street of Arrowtown and the interaction with the public before the rally is something we should build upon. Let’s go back to two things I tried to introduce. One was an annual plan. A plan that everyone was on the same page with, something we could work to during the year and more over plan that could measure the success or failure. No one wanted to review the suggested draft plan I put out. The feedback I got “we don’t need this”. The second I tried to introduce was a job description for committee members. Wow did this get the comments going. But I put it to you all how can anyone do their job unless you know what to do. One comment was that we are a voluntary organisation well even more to the point the critics are usually worse than in paid employment. (Critics in employment are constrained by the employment laws) By the way the job descriptions were taken from the Branch Manual. The decision was made at a general monthly meeting for the committee to have the meeting finished before 8pm or met on another night. This has never been completed properly and should be considered by the new committee. We talked about new signage for use at rallies and gatherings. Nothing happened again the critics on cost and why do we need it. We attempted to run the swap meet the same day as the Cromwell car show, but we didn’t even have descent signage to put out to say that we are open. Walking around the car show looking at the signage it is bright modern and reflects the enthusiasm of the car Clubs. Our signage and banner do nothing for our Club at all This brings me to another point our swop met was usually held Sunday after the Blossom Festival rally. The amount of people attending the swop meet has been getting less and less each year. Firstly, most swop meets are held on a Saturday there is little or no local advertising local members don’t bring anything along. For a swop met to be a success there needs to be some effort to give it a good shake and commit to the weekend of the Cromwell Car Show. In saying this the organising committee of the Blossom Festival Rally made some changes last year to try and revive the numbers attending. Thanks for giving it a go don’t listen to the critics it’s not the way we use to do it. It’s the you want to do it. If it was so good years ago why aren’t the members still attending. One good thing to come out of the discussions about fitting a car hoist was hell some members can speak. However, when members cannot debate in a rational or business-like manner to the point of getting personal then is just not worth it.

This report is somewhat negative however I have a few words of advice for the new committee. Unless this club adapts to a management style that reflects the era of the times the club will stumble along perhaps exist or go backwards. We have club rooms and buildings that cost money but are under-utilised. We have had the opportunity to perhaps have other like-minded people use the facility but not agreed by the members. I would encourage the new committee to look closely at the terms of the new lease for the land. In the cold light of business terms, we have an under-utilised asset that costs money in repairs, maintenance and insurance then it would be better to realise the asset met at the local pub creating a lot less work and expense. I realize these are harsh words but that is the world today. Three years ago the autumn festival rally went through Jacks point and Henly Farm. (some roads that the rally had never been before) not one complaint to me about the wait for the one-way bridge or traffic. I step down as chairman wishing the new committee well in their endeavours and will continue support them throughout the next year. Bill Crooks. Club Captain's Annual 2017-2018 Report
Firstly, I would like to show my appreciation to members who convened club events through the year. Graham Taylor, who organized the Blossom Festival which was enjoyed by 40 entrants. Also, the Daffodil Day which he ably run from Wanaka Airport to take in the Greater Wanaka -Hawea area. About 40 entrants also enjoyed this well-organized event open to all. Bill Crooks run the Glenorchy Sunday run which was well-supported by members. He also had great input into the overnight run to the Nevis Valley: not to be outdone run to great success our Annual Arrowtown Festival taking us to spectacular views on the Kelvin Heights Deer Park. We need more strong members to organize great events such as these. In the past year, I have been Club Captain for the first 75% of the year. We had Sunday runs to garages at Gallaway-Earnscleugh, Daffodil Day, Mt. Cook, Glenorchy, Christmas BBQ, overnight to Nevis and Best of British . But after February, there was a lot of non- COVCC events namely car shows , Easter, National and Branch events. I found it hard to find members to organized Sunday events. There was a lot of gaps in our program. This was a concern to me as Club Captain as it is not a Club Captain's duty to convene all the events. It needs input from the members; I therefore will propose at the AGM, to require members to take a month each to organize the Sunday runs. This is not a big ask, this is only say once a year for 8 members. Please support my request. Happy motoring, Murray George

Editors Report. This is my last report as Editor it has been quite at time! While the job requires quite a bit of time (unseen and hard to quantify) and attendance at meetings and events to get the picture so to speak. As some of you know I was one of the earliest COvcc club members we met at the Lowburn Pub and had the Blossom Rally, and attended many other events we had a small membership and lots of enthusiasm. I retired from the Club approx. 1986 as with a young family , mortgage, very busy with business, CFO of the local fire brigade and other community organisations. So with the move to a clubrooms which I found questionable then, as I felt that the motoring and event attendance enthusiasm was falling away . So after a fair stint in aviation where I found that the people were much like VCC enthusiasts but with different conveyances! I re-joined and wasn’t long before Lindsay Olsen encouraged me to become Editor which has many benefits namely being in the loop and it is surprising to me that the Editors position in our club and many others is at the bottom of the page , believe me communication is vital to any active organisation and hopefully in the review of our constitution the Editor will be right up there in the Management Committee. Then my frustration with the way the club has staggered along with the ‘dead pan’ meeting syndrome, and I am not alone in that, as Bill Crooks report states. My observation is that it is not the club the people or the vast diversity in cars but the way we expect our club to function. Then back to the constitution , what happened to the management committee structure ? It faded away to our cost. My appreciation to Don and Lynne Yeaman for taking on the Editors job, and the new committee who are quietly working in the background, and did you know that the club pool table is there to be used! Therefore after the AGM we had our first Management com-
mittee meeting and sorted out a lot of stuff, the next general club meting will be the AGM June 2019, that’s right, no more drab club meetings, and have a very good look at the events page, otherwise you will be left behind ! Graham Taylor

BUT traced via Hayes (some paint suppliers in Invercargill also listed) a Product KBS Fuel Tank Sealer KIT! a smaller size does up to 45litre. BUT they also said POR 15 not now in stock, and not sure if can get!. Cheers Rob Young.
