Club meetings on the second Tuesday of the month at the Aurere Clubrooms at 7.30pm.
CLUB CLEANING ROSTER 2019-2020 During the month, and preferably before the main calendar event, please give the clubrooms a thorough check over, as in: Clean the toilets and hand basins, check kitchen, window ledges etc, and sweep the floors. Window cleaning, washing walls etc will be done at working bees.
Note any required maintenance and pass on to the Building Officer– Warren Mackay, ph 09 4061955 If your date doesn’t suit you, please swap with someone else. For any other enquiries please contact the Club Captain.

The Far North Branch of the VCC does have a policy that pets are not brought to any Club events. We do ask that this policy is respected.

From the Chair……. Wow, this month is nearly over already!
I checked on my computer for when my ewes were due to lamb from when I put the rams out. It said to watch for lambs from 25th July. I went around the ewes that morning and 2 ewes were cleaning their new born lambs while one was doing her best to give birth. I always think it's a great time of the year to see new lives arriving and a day or two later chasing one another around the paddock.
Thanks to Graeme and Warren for organizing a successful Annual Dinner. I think we were very lucky with the weather for the day considering the deluges and flooding further south. It was unfortunate that Keith and Lynn Lyndsell and Sandra couldn't make it, but otherwise we had a good turnout. Congratulations to all trophy winners, and especially to Ruth for winning Club-man of the year. She has put a lot of effort The other thing that is good to see is our Vintage cars out on behind the scenes over many years to keep us all informed the road (if we can get the damn things going) and enjoying and reminders of coming events and passing on information. vintage motoring, and spending time with like minded members. It has been a quiet month for the branch. It is good to see All the best for happy motoring, Kerikeri having another Friday Pot Luck luncheon on 31st Win. July; unfortunately I am unable to attend.
It looked like there might be a stand-off before proceedings got under way, but thankfully there was an amicable resolution.
PETER MATTHEWS COLLECTION Wednesday 12th August 10 am Come and have a look around Peter Matthews’ extensive collection of Trucks and Cars. To be followed by lunch at Bakerman, Awanui. Peter Matthews property is on the corner of State Highway 10 and Godinovich Road just by the bridge just 2km from Awanui. Access and parking off Godinovich Road. Please text to Warren 021 0364 333 your intention to be included for lunch as we would like to give Bakerman an idea of how many for lunch. An email reminder will be sent out closer to the time.

Club Captain’s Report….. An eventful month with heavy rain at times, flooding of major roads and the North cut off with State Highway 10 becoming State Highway 1. We turned on a great day for the Annual Luncheon at the Mangonui Cruising Club with a good turnout of 30 members enjoying great a lunch and social gathering. Unfortunately due to the recent road closures Keith and Lynn Lyndsell and Sandra Trafford were unable to make it to the Prize Giving Luncheon.

I wanted to start going out with women again, but had no idea how to start, so I decided to look in the personal columns of the local newspaper. After reading through all the listings, I circled three that seemed possible in terms of age and interests, but I put off calling them.

Steve stood in for Sandra as he and Rex accepted the Molloy Trophy.
Mary and Ian received their 25 year badges.
Winston with the Fathers Day trophy; he also won the Points and Attendance Trophy.
Dorothy and Dave took out the Matthews Cup and the Dunny Run.
There were claps and cheers for Ruth, Clubman of the Year.

It was really good to see these two ladies at the luncheon. A very enjoyable Pot Luck Lunch was held at Matt and Bev Sharpe’s home on Haruru Falls Road on Friday 31st July. Attended by 21 members, we enjoyed the hospitality, catch up with friends, great views over the Bay of Islands and Russell in the distance , and the grand selection of lunch items. The numbers attending and comments suggest that this format is becoming more favourable, doing away with travelling home at night. Hopefully with the approaching spring and summer members will be tempted to bring out their Club cars to these gatherings and a lunch at a beach venue will be on the cards. Thank you Bev, Matt and Warwick for a great day. Graeme
