The morning tea’s at Shantytown continue to see a good turnout. If you are at a loose end tea/coffee and a scone are well worth it. And you get a natter with some great company. From the Club Captain - Past events Waiuta 70th memorial - The day went well if not a little cold and wet! To be honest the turnout from Greymouth was poor with only three cars but another three from the Reefton area joined to make a grand total of six. Out thanks to those who made the effort to be a part of this fabulous celebration. Our mid-winter dinner at Barrytown was a sell out again. A full house is good to see and we extend our thanks to Alan and Nola Weir for showing us the Wasabi plantation, a most interesting plant. A sample was on the dinner table and members were not disappointed when tasting the product Upcoming:- Our next event is Daffodil Day ,on the 22nd of AUGUST , in the form of a car show . This is a national event organised by the Vintage Car Clubs all around the country assisted by Head Office and the Cancer Society. Our West Coast Branch combines with the Hot Rod clubs from Greymouth and Buller to display our cars to the public . This year starting in Greymouth then traveling to Westport. The show starts at 9.30 at Greymouth Rodders Club rooms in Anzac park until 11 .30 with a Coffee van on site. Vehicles will then travel to Westport - Victoria Square , for a 1.00 pm, display and lunch - food and coffee on site . Entry is $10 .00 donation for cancer per car. At VICTORIA Square please use the paved area only , No cars or stalls on the grass area . Enjoy the day and support a great cause.
Reefton Car Show This was the second annual car show and was once again very well supported by Hot Rodders and Vintage Car owners. Despite a freezing winters day vehicles lined up under a cloud of fog there were approximately 280 cars and 10 bikes on display. A big thank you to members who made the trip to support the show. Vehicles ranged from 1920’s through to modern day SUV’s. It was a gold coin entry to the show and I am delighted to report that almost $2800 was collected. St John’s are to receive the proceeds and the money will go towards the purchase of three new defibrillators for the Reefton community. A well done to all those involved in the success of the second show-long may the shows continue! The weather certainly did not dampen the spirit of the day.

VIC FORMS - A reminder to all members who have VIC cards that are due to expire, you will receive a personalised RENEWAL FORM from the National Office at least three months before the due date. You cannot download a form off the internet. They are personalised for each individual vehicle. Please fill in and hand to Branch Secretary. Please note that new applications can be downloaded from the website or contact the Branch Secretary. If you wish to participate in any National VCC Event, you need to have a Vehicle Identification Certificate, don’t leave it until the last minute as it takes some time for the processing of paperwork. If you sell your vintage vehicle and it has VIC Certification please notify NZVCC, POBox 2546, Christchurch. Ph 03 366 4461 or email: admin@vcc.org.nz VERO INSURANCE - If you take your Insurance out with VERO they will then pay the Branch a small Commission which helps with Branch finances. Please note that when applying for Insurance cover with VERO you must quote the Branch number which is 36 plus your membership number.
