If you are at a loose end during the month think about coming along to the morning tea at Shantytown. These mornings are always enjoyable and a great way to spend time in great company I would dearly love to hear from members out there with stories/vehicles to share to try and keep the newsletter interesting and relevant. Any contributions greatly appreciated as it is very difficult to source interesting content. Thanks to those who have assisted to date and June and Dave Campbell for their ongoing support. From the Club Captain Another great run-with February being changed from the posh picnic, due to a poor weather forecast, to a trip up the Coast to the Fox River market. Plans are well underway for our Scenicland rally in March but as our April run date will fall on Anzac Day we will not have a run in April. Members are encouraged to consider the morning tea at Shantytown if looking for an April outing with great company and conversation! You can travel in your day to day vehicle and will enjoy a good natter and scone– give it a go. Planning is well underway for May but in the meantime see you all on 20 March for our long awaited Scenicland Rally. A huge thank you to all those who have given freely of their time to ensure our rally is a success. (you know who you are). Fox River Run -From June and David Campbell Our first Club run for the year was to Fox River. We had four cars from Hokitika, four from Greymouth and two from Reefton. As always a lovely run up the Coastal highway to the market day. A first time for us and we were pleasantly surprised at the quantity and quality of the food stalls. We shouted ourselves a whitebait sandwich each and would say it rates among the best we have ever eaten. Passers-by stopped and called in so there was a good amount of people around most of the time. We were pleased to meet Bruce and Kim Anderson, new members from Reefton who had travelled with Nick and Annette Harrison in their newly purchased 1928 Essex, ex Takaka, cover photo. Another Essex for the Branch – we might be able to take over one of these days eh. A call at the Punakaiki Tavern rounded off a pleasant day. Those who came along for the day were... Colin and Elaine Peacock, Arthur Toplis, Ted Beer and Jill Cowan, us, Frank and Karen Bradley, Carleen and Tony Keane, Kath and Murray Rattray and Leonie and Jack Renton and friends, plus The Harrison's And Anderson’s from Reefton. Good to catch up guys. Entries close for our Scenicland Rally 13 March 2021, so if you haven’t sent that form in yet hurry as we would love to see you. There has been a fantastic response already and it will be a great opportunity to give your wheels a run. Particpants of the Rally are to report to Civic Centre, Puketahi Street, Greymouth at 8:30 am on 20 March 2021 to collect your rally packs and instructions. The pre departure briefing is at 9:00 am, followed by departure by 9:30 am.
Daffodil Day is confirmed for 22 August 2021 with the committee looking into maybe a change of direction -to be confirmed closer to the event. A note from Greg Smith. He has a set of 550 x 600 x 16 Firestone tyres and tubes to give away suitable for a display vehicle. His phone number is 7627549.

VIC FORMS - A reminder to all members who have VIC cards that are due to expire, you will receive a personalised RENEWAL FORM from the National Office at least three months before the due date. You cannot download a form off the internet. They are personalised for each individual vehicle. Please fill in and hand to Branch Secretary. Please note that new applications can be downloaded from the website or contact the Branch Secretary. If you wish to participate in any National VCC Event, you need to have a Vehicle Identification Certificate, don’t leave it until the last minute as it takes some time for the processing of paperwork.
If you sell your vintage vehicle and it has VIC Certification please notify NZVCC, POBox 2546, Christchurch. Ph 03 366 4461 or email: admin@vcc.org.nz VERO INSURANCE - If you take your Insurance out with VERO they will then pay the Branch a small Commission which helps with Branch finances. Please note that when applying for Insurance cover with VERO you must quote the Branch number which is 36 plus your membership number. Also you are reminded that this scheme is set up for financial members only.
