Subject: Rotorua branch cancellations and postponements Hi all It is with sadness that the new “Level Two” restrictions on gatherings put in place by the government have led the Rotorua branch committee to make the following decisions, effective Sunday 22 March 2020:Club nights and our regular club runs, including midweek runs, are suspended until further notice. This will include our May meeting which is also our AGM. Our major annual events, the Central North Island Swap Meet and the Sulphur City Rally are also postponed. We will closely monitor the developments with Covid-19 on a regular basis, with a view to starting some branch activities that safely fit in with guidelines in the near future. It may also be possible that the Swap Meet and Sulphur City Rally could take place later in the year if things improve swiftly. Club nights and our regular club runs, including midweek runs, are suspended until further notice. This will include our May meeting which is also our AGM. If no nominations are made for a position, the chairperson will accept nominations from the members present at the meeting. Forms on which nominations can be made will be included with King Pin.
Secretary Snippets I have spoken to Campbell recently about holding our AGM this Sunday as advertised in our last newsletter.I have includedthe latest letter from ourNational President Dianne Quarrie. Please read this, as several very important points have been made WOF etc. These have been highlighted There have been some rallies canncelled I have included a letter from the Rotorua VCC about the cancelling of the Rotorua Swapmeet. The following items need to be discuss at our next meeting. Norma • Journey through Time Rally.Are we going to go ahead with this ? • Attendance at the Annual General Meeting VCC in Wanganui (August) • Meeting of new members Here is a letter from the Ruapehu District Council Hi Everyone, Council has received some queries as to what activities are able to take place in halls during Covid-19 Alert Level 2. The Government has just put out some advice around this to make it clearer. The link to the relevant information on the Government Unite against Covid-19 website for Community groups, clubs and societies is: Some further information on Gatherings and events and the attached factsheet can be found at: https://covid19.govt.nz/communities/gatherings-and-events/ In summary, community groups, clubs and societies can gather for events at Alert Level 2 if: • you have no more than 10 people at any gathering ?? • you keep high hygiene standards • you record attendees to ensure contact tracing can be conducted if necessary. Gatherings could include events like family events, religious services and public meetings. Food and drink consumption is fine at gatherings. It should be prepared carefully and served individually, not from a buffet. You must adhere to hospitality guidelines regarding alcohol consumption. You cannot participate in any gatherings or events if you have COVID-19 symptoms or if you need to be in isolation/quarantine for any reason.If you have any questions around a specific situation, please let me know and I’ll follow up. 1 May 2020 Dear Members As we come to the end of our 5th or 6th week in lockdown (depending on whether you are over 70 or immune compromised), I hope that you have followed Jacinda’s request to “be kind, stay at home and break the chain”. Sadly our “VCC family” recently lost a Canterbury Branch member to Covid-19. Out of respect for his family, I won’t name him but I’m sure that you will join with me on behalf of the Vintage Car Club in expressing our condolences to his family, one of whom is also a member of the Club. Now that we are in Alert Level 3, National Office is once again manned by Jo however it is closed to all visitors at this stage. Contact can only be by phone, email or post. I am pleased to let you know that the April/May Beaded Wheels is now able to be printed and will be posted out to members next week. At this stage, it is planned that the June/July issue will be sent out two weeks later than normal (around middle of June). The new dates for the Vero International Festival of Historic Motoring in New Plymouth have been finalised as Sunday 16th January to Friday 21st January 2022 so now is the time to get your accommodation bookings changed or finalised. Good on those Branches who are continuing to innovate and keep members engaged and actively involved, such as North Shore Branch who recently held a ‘virtual rally’. Also Wanganui Branch whose Facebook page has regular reports and photos on what projects their members are up to. Please let me know if you or your branch is doing anything different to keep members motivated. The VCC’s new Facebook group is also gaining momentum. If you have any car related questions or news, that is the place to go to share them.I am hearing
lots of positive comments regarding folk using this lockdown time to work on their restorations or catch up on maintenance jobs that have been put on the back-burner. I have even noticed just walking around my neighbourhood, that garage doors are open and car projects are being dragged to the front with lots of work being done. In terms of Branch AGM’s, I recently advised Branch Committees that the COVID-19 Ministerial Group made some decisions that offer the Club and branches relief from our obligations in terms of filing annual financial returns and holding annual general meetings until such a time as we are reasonably able to perform them. Also, communications and meetings using electronic devices are permitted, even if constitutions or rules do not provide for it. This gives us welcome reassurance during the disruptions caused by the lockdown. We will be monitoring the situation over the next few weeks in relation to the Government’s strategy in further relaxing the Alert Levels and the number of people gathering in one place. The Government also announced a 6-month extension for vehicles that have an expired WoF, CoF or registration because the lockdown. There is also a 6-month extension for anyone whose driver’s licence has expired. It means that you can drive for essential purposes during the Level 3 lockdown, and in the period afterwards, with an expired WoF, registration or licence because you could not renew it during the lockdown. It also means that your insurance policies will remain valid because the Wof and registration etc will be deemed current under the emergency law. The extension is backdated to anything that expired from 1 January 2020 (or 1 March for licence endorsements), which is also good news for anyone who was unable to get a WoF or repair prior to the lockdown (such as waiting for hard-to-get parts for a vehicle. It is important to note however that the vehicle must still be in a roadworthy condition.
