KING COUNTRY VINTAGE CAR CLUB Dear Members I hope that you all put the lockdown for Covid 19 to good use with car maintenance, house painting, firewood etc. The AGM for our club has been put back to the end of June for a number of reasons. Primarily this is because we all need to have a long think about the future of the King Country Vintage Car Club. Clubrooms We have serious maintenance issues becoming apparent with the Clubrooms. There is considerable painting work required and the roof needs maintenance as well. We have to ask ourselves if we can do this kind of work ourselves or alternatively can we afford to get this work done by contractors. Then of course for the amount of time that we spend at the clubrooms do we need them at all. Journey Through Time Rally There are a number of issued to consider here. With the shrinking number of members in recent years there has been a big reliance on the same few people to run this event. The number of entries also seems to be getting smaller each year therefore the margin of income after expenses is dropping while the expenses seem to be increasing. Further is the monetary problem is the fact that we have only half of the district roads available to us because of the road closures for the Hamilton Car Club National Rally held at the same time. Club Future With all these points in mind I believe the time has come to give serious thought to the future and viability of our club. A normal AGM will be held on 28th June 2020 and I urge you all to please make an effort to attend so these discussions can be held with a fair representation and with everybody there then decisions can be made for the best. Secretary Snippets Hi, Everyone,on Sunday the 26th of June at 2p.m.in the clubrooms we have our Annual General Meeting, which was postpone from last month due to the Covic 19 Crisis that is affecting our lives,over the last few weeks. However, now that we are down at Level 2 things are becoming a bit more normal.We would like a good attendance at the meeting as there aresome issues to be discussas set out in the chairman’s letter and annual report. So please attend the meeting as your contributions may be extremely helpful. Driving “Motor driving and games such as Cricket, Tennis and Golf have much in common as each is an applied science.There are only two methods of learning to drive-having someone explain how the car can be operated by manipulating various switches and levers, and learning this ritual off, parrot fashion,or by taking an intelligent interest in the subject and learning the significiance of each move. The latter will make a better,safer and more skilful driver.The embryo driver must not attempt to hasten his learning,but rather,go through the process gradually and thoroughly. In the beginning it is important to see that the seating position suits the individual.An awkward seat certainly means slovenly driving.See that the feet are comfortably within reach of the foot controls and that the arms are in a natural position on the wheel.�
