Report on our August Mystery Trip. On the Sunday the 30th August we met at the car park opposite the old post office for a trip organised by Manning Family. Wayne & Julie Gilbert,(1981 Ford Capri) Rob Wheeler,(1998 Ford Ute) Brian Goodwin,(1972 Mini) David Caddy, Vicki Sinclair & children Ivan & Alison Stevens,(1957 Vauhall Velox) Norma Dougherty (modern) Campbell Wright(1972 Posche) We left the carpark and travelled over Victory Bridge to travel through the Hikumutu district. The country scenery was just begining to show the first signs of spring blossoms and daffodils. We then returned via Makokomiko to Piriaka and Manunui and drove through Matapuna to Turaki Street. We then went over Victory Bridge again and travelled through Taumaruiti and along Marsack Road and Racecourse Road to State Highway 4.We then made our way along to Bell Road to the old railway Goods shed which is now the TRAC meeting place Inside we looked through the many rooms and viewed several display items model train,cars, tractors before having a meeting in the dining area.

Secretary Snippets.Today, I went on line to get a Rego for a vehicle and discovered I had just about been “scammed”As I hadn’t gone ahead with any payment etc, I was advised to delete the Email I had received a email to say the rego was due”the reminder number was ‘’????……4 ..etc. But I had no reminder number like that So I rang the nzta to make some enquires.She said They were having some problems with scammers. The Mini Cooper John Cooper, F1car constructor and a friend of Issigonis’s recognised the Mini’s extraordinary performance potenial. BMCliked his proposal for an image-raising “Mini Cooper”; Cooper boosted capacity from 848 to 997cc, and power from 34 to55bhp with twin carbs and a modified camshaft. A real hotrod, over 87mhp was possible, fast enough to justify fitting tiny front disc brakes. Later came the Cooper S,ultimately giving76bhp for100 mph and greased lightning acceleration. BMC took it rallying. with increible success. The Cooper S won the legendary Monte Carlo Rally in 1964,1965 and 1967, driven by the likes of Paddy Hopkirk and TimoMakinen. Axed in 1971 the Mini Cooper was revivied in 1990. A Brief Report on the Annual General Meeting of the

Special People in the Club honoured • This year Rob Brayshaw our Vehicle Registrar. Has been a member for 25years. Attends meeting overseas for the VCC, was given Life Membership. He also introduced the Vic Card System in 1998/1999 for vehicles. Has recently been very ill. • Thanks to John Coomber past secretary for a great number of years, he has given to the VCC. He was made a life member in 2016. • Several Wanganui members were also recognised They were Andrew Anderson, Allan Bates (Patron of the Whanganui VCC), Peter Williams Founder of the Wanganui VC in1955 Election of Officers No Elections required. But a new Treasurer has been appointedHe is Chris Lee Motions No Motions or Remits this year.
