were up in all a very successful and social day. A big thanks goes to Robert Todd for getting the float for the Kitchen,gate,etc, and organizing the raffle also his help in the kitchen I would also like to thank all those that helped make it a good day The Mercer dinner also went very well,with a good turnout of Members to help(thanks everyone)Glenys did a remarkable job organizing the meal, and the members with serving and dishing out of the meals John did his flashing act again which went down very well. I had a lot of great comments about the quality and quantity of the meal.

The only down side was one of the group had a breakdown And they spent most of the night repairing the back axel of their car (shit happens) We have decided to sell the maxi given to us as a parts car as we feel It is far to good to dismantle its in very good original order and is 99% Complete if anyone is interested in it please get in touch with one of the Parts guys or myself We are just waiting on the locksmith to work his magic on the front door

Club Captains Report A busy couple of busy months ahead of us, check with the what’s on in the Rolling Wheels. I hope you can get to at least one of the club events. The Teapot Rally is first off the blocks on 17th October. Also Election Day so need to bear that in mind. November 8th visit to Murray Dempster’s display of weapons and war memorabilia. November 14th NOVCC swop meet. November 22 lunch and bowling with N.O.V.C. at the Galleon Oamaru. p.s at this point in time we have about 18 keen to go. Please register your interest either with me or Glenys if you wish to attend. December 6th Christmas BBQ. Big thank you to those who have organised the teapot rally route, and those who have done the Wallaby route, and all the other behind the scene helpers. Thank you. The four Goldberg brothers, Lowell, Norman, Hiram, and Max, invented and developed the first automobile air-conditioner. On July 17, 1946, the temperature in Detroit was 97 degrees. The four brothers walked into old man Henry Ford's office and sweet-talked his secretary into telling him that four gentlemen were there with the most exciting innovation in the auto industry since the electric starter. Henry was curious and invited them into his office. They refused and instead asked that he come out to the parking lot to their car. They persuaded him to get into the car, which was about 130 degrees, Turned on the air conditioner, and cooled the car off immediately. The old man got very excited and invited them back to the office, where he offered them $3 million for the patent. The brothers refused, saying they would settle for $2 million, but they wanted the recognition by having a label, 'The Goldberg Air -Conditioner,’on the dashboard of each car in which it was installed. Now old man Ford was more than just a little anti-Jewish, and there was no way he was going to put the Goldberg's name on two million Fords. They haggled back and forth for about two hours and finally agreed on $4 million and that just their first names would be shown.

TEA POT RALLY

A run out to Murray Dempster ‘s to view a large collection of weapons and war memorabilla
The start location and time is at the Glenavy hotel on the corner of Radcliff Rd and Railway Tce at 12 noon on the 17th Oct. We will gather there between 12 and 1pm for a bit of socializing and then start the run at 1pm. With a driver and crew brief at 12.50pm. The run will take approximately one and a half hours. There will be a full set of instructions given to each crew before starting. Each crew will also be given a questionnaire sheet to be filled out during the run. The run will finish at the Waimate club rooms at approximately 2.30pm for an afternoon tea at 3pm. As each crew arrive at the cub rooms they will hand in their questionnaire and be given another questionnaire that will have some questions to test their memories. After all questionnaires have been finished and scored the presentation of the much sort after teapot trophy will be presented to the winning club.
