3Passes and Gorges Run On Sunday 16th 6 cars left the club rooms to tackle three Passes and three Gorges. The weather was fine after a cloudy start, and continued to stay sunny for the rest of the day. The Waimate gorge was quickly put behind us as we headed in to Meyers pass. Despite the brief rain the previous night there was very little runoff in the pass. Next was an enjoyable run up to the Cattle Creek hall for lunch. Sitting in the sun enjoying our lunch and sharing time with the 15 or so members who were on the run was very pleasant. Eventually we moved on to the Hakataramea pass. Coming to the end we were treated to a view of the southern alps with a dusting of snow, and topped by cloud. After a short run back up to the beginning of the McKenzie pass we had a short stop to view the information cairn before continuing into the pass. At Albury we gathered for a break, and to enjoy the fine afternoon. This is where some will leave to head home or shop in Timaru. The rest of the hardy souls will head up the Otaio and Pareoa Gorges to complete the run back to Waimate. This is a run full of changing scenery, road conditions and great company. Not a run to be missed. Hope the club will put it on the agenda for next Year, as I will certainly be looking forward to doing it again. Suzanne Anderson.
CHAIRMANS REPORT
Hi everyone This is all new to me so here we go. Thanks for your vote of Confidence electing me as Chairman also congratulations to Peter on your new post as club captain. Thanks also go to all other members remaining on the committee. Lots to live up to our past Chairman Steve who has from what I have seen done a terrific job in steering the club to what it is today. On behalf of all members and committee Thanks Steve and committee members. But a Chairperson and committee members can only do their jobs if all members step up and contribute their ideas to make our club more enjoyable and continue to be successful. Club Captains Report Welcome to my first report. I certainly have large shoes to fill and would like to thank Suzanne for all her hard work over the last four years ensuring club members have had many events and activities to participate in. During May we had the 3 passes, 3 gorges run. While numbers attending were down a little from the last time this run was held, all those that came along had a great day. So much so that our lunch stop at Cattle Creek Hall was held on the outside deck in the sunshine. Linda and I have never travelled these roads before and we thoroughly enjoyed it. At one of the gates going through Meyers Pass we were told to watch out for wallabies. We only made it around the next bend when we came across one right in front of us bounding across the road. Great timing with the warning! Upcoming events are:

More information about the Henry Ford Day will be advised in the next newsletter. There are no scheduled events in October and November at this stage. However, once the North Otago Club set the date for the annual Tea Pot Rally, I will let you all know, hopefully in the next edition. The Christmas Party will be held in December, with the date and venue still to be set.
