Chairman’s Comments
We are now back with normal club activities. The first Wednesday of the month morning teas are on again so turn up on Wed 1st July with your plate of morning tea goodies to meet with your fellow members and have a chin wag. There must be plenty to talk about after we have been in our bubbles. We will also start the second Sunday of the month car runs in August. By now you have received your notification of the AGM to be held at the clubrooms on Sunday August 2nd staring at 1:00pm. Although we have received some nominations for committee members we still need people for Club Captain, Librarian and Hall Custodian, but if you are keen, all positions are open for nomination. Wednesday 1st July is our club morning tea at the clubrooms so come along and have a chat about anything. You must have lots of things to talk about that have been bottled up during the lock down. Just don’t forget that home baking or even just a pack of biscuits. Some of the committee will be there and happy to answer any questions you may have. Planning for the Far North Tour is underway and we already have registrations of interest. Some of us have already booked our accommodation in Kerikeri and if you mention you are coming for the Vintage Car Club Far North Tour, Who knows, you may even get a better price. Just remember to let us know if you intend to come as it will make planning a whole lot easier. Whangarei A&P Show are running their 140th show on Saturday 5th December. The Vintage Car Club have been invited to hold a Car Show and can accommodate from 50 to 100 vehicles, the more cars the bigger the impact. Anybody entering in their club vehicle will get two entry tickets {valued at $10/ticket) and members are free to bring their own picnic lunch or buy from the range at the show. However, to allow for planning, the show need to know how many vehicles to allow for. We plan to take the club vehicles to the show and would like to see as many club vehicles there as possible as it gives us a great public profile and allows to show off our vehicles at no cost to ourselves and the Show will even give a donation back to the club for attending. Can you please let us know on northland@vcc.org.nz if you are able to attend so we can let the A&P show organisers know to arrange the tickets. RSA Fundraiser Run on 5th July We will .drive about an hour to the venue for a fish n chip lunch south of Whangarei. As in the advertisement elsewhere in this newsletter - run leaving Laurie Hall carpark 10 am. $15 entry donation per car. There is also a raffle for $100 petrol vouchers. For catering purposes could you please email northland@vcc.org.nz the number of people in your car who would like to order fish and chips for lunch. Not a problem if you want to bring your own lunch.
Secretary’s scribblings Hello again members, another month has slipped by and I’m getting organised to get all the paperwork sorted for the AGM. (By the way you should have gotten them by now) When you receive this newsletter we are all ready to get the nominations sorted, and by that time we can sent the reminder out with the names of the nominees. In this short write up I like to remind you of a few things. now a new date for the VERO International Festival.
Firstly, below you can see that there is
Vero International Festival of Historic Motoring 2022 The new dates for the Vero International Festival of Historic Motoring in New-Plymouth have been finalised as Sunday 16th January to Friday 21st January 2022 so now is the time to get your accommodation bookings changed or finalised. If you’re planning to go there and need accommodation then start looking now because we tried last November to book for the “then” planned 2021 event and thought there would be plenty of time to do so, but where mistaken into believing that. So my advice is get on with it now and get it sorted early.
Secondly, we are now back as usually and I like to point out to you the fact that we have on the Kiwi North grounds an AED defibrillator onsite. On the sliding door window from our hall there is a pamphlet with instructions. The Defibrillator is located by the front door up the ramp by the Kiwi North’s shop. Please walk up to the Museum and have a look when you’re on the grounds so you know where it is and can easily find it in an emergency. Name Badges If you like to get a name badge for club events please come and see me. Have an envelope within it $15 per name badge and your name clearly printed on the front. I will get them sorted as soon as possible, and contact you when they’re ready to be picked up. Also a reminder if you have a name badge please wear it, (I’m bad forgetting my one to) because we still have new members coming in whom don’t know us all
NEW COMMITTEE If YOU or know of another member of the club whom is willing to participate in the committee or like to help with setting a run, baking for the 1st Wednesday or be willing to go on a list of members that we can call on when we need a hand, that would be really handy. I have already approached 4 NEW members of the club and they have said they like to give it a go. I was a reluctant secretary to start with but I have learned a whole lot of new skills, made contact with head office and got coached through my new roll, and learned all the ins and outs of our club. Motorcycle Report June Monthly Motorcycle Run The first outing of the motorcycle section since we went into lockdown. 1st Sunday of June 2020 with 9 bikes arriving at the usual start point lower dent street Alley car park. During Lockdown Errol Gray had purchased online some material and elastic for some face masks and Sue Salter kindly made these face masks for us to wear (Thanks Errol, and Sue Thanks for spending time making them up). Robert and Lorraine arrived in there newly acquired 1961 BSA Golden Flash A10 which they had attached a sidecar to. A new prospective member Peter Thorne riding a nice Kawasaki 750. In the Photo left to right , Errol Gray, Cameron Francis, Wasel, Peter Thorne, Brain Taylor, Braden Eades, Peter Lovatt, Robert & Lorraine Young and Martin Salter (Lofty). The photo was kindly taken by Chairman Ron. We all headed for Vinegar Hill road. Through Crane road headed for Kokopu road , where Robert and Lorraine had clutch trouble and Cam towed them with his Powerful Moto Guzzi down Draffin Road to the Poroti Tavern. Lofty had gone the xtra mile and rode passed Kokopu road and turned into Wright road and then back to Poroti, the BSA would have gone that way too but the clutch was getting a bit sad by this time. Lofty went home to get a recovery vehicle while the other riders enjoyed time having a nog and natter. The National Motorcycle Rally and After Tour is to be held in Masterton 12th to the 18th March 2020. It looks like this branch will be represented by 4 bikes and 5 people and hopefully more will decide to go.

Dargaville Doings
Our first run after Breakout in May, was to Kelly’s Bay. Rob, Ngaire & Alice Wade organised a lovely sunny day for us to meet just west of the town. One can’t really get lost if you stick to Pouto Road and turn left at the Kelly’s Bay sign. Alice set us a few questions to keep our minds active on the way there. Thank you. The tide was as far out as it could get, and it was amazing to see the many sand banks in the river as we drove down. We kept to our separated groups of 10, and enjoyed our first day of ‘freedom’, not in a hurry to leave the relaxed scene. Sun strike in some parts on the way home caused a couple of ‘moments’. The June Wednesday Run was held a week earlier than usual as we wanted to say good-bye to one of our members, Graham Murray who was leaving to live with family in South Auckland. Graham was a ‘Morris’ man; many will remember his white sign written J van, Morris 1800 Land Crab and a Series 3 Morris Oxford Pick-up, in particular. He was always ready to help if asked and he will also be especially missed from the volunteers at The Kauri Museum at Matakohe. Thirty-one people arrived to farewell Graham at The Landing in Paparoa, a fitting tribute to a respected member. Best wishes Graham. Our Run in July is our Night Rally, (instead of the Wednesday run) which will be organised by the Wade family, who were the lucky winners last year! This will be Saturday 18th July. Start at the NW Aero Club, Hoanga Road at 5pm where hot soup and bread rolls will be supplied. Please bring a dessert to share after we return from the dark roads of Kaipara.

Vauxhall HC Viva 1800L 1990 Alfa Romeo 164 They are both trailer cars for taking away, from storage in Cambridge, both have been dry stored for 15 years or more.
