Chairmans Notes The days are getting longer, you can put your shorts back on now. Our 66th AGM of the Wanganui Branch has come and gone. Two new committee members, Ray Savage and Andrew Johnston Plus Elizabeth J has taken over the kitchen duties. It was nice to have Ian Drummond along as a guest. The committee is looking forward to providing an alternative year for all our valued members. I was elected back as chairman, this will definitely be my last year. The bench seats in front of the parts department shed are having a spruce up. Some new boards, as required, all new bolts and a fresh coat of paint before the August National AGM meeting. Thanks Dave McD and Brian Wagstaff, (Painter) The clubrooms are being used for the Sunday visits and luncheon for the delegates and National Exec Members.
The committee has everything in place for the branch to host the NZ National Executive + AGM at the Kingsgate Hotel here in August. We are even prepared to livestream the meeting if management want to go that way. Some members will be required to provide cars to transport Executive and delegates around town and to and from the Whanganui Airport, Phone Chris White if you can help here A shuttle bus will be picking up and returning members also to the Palmerston North Airport. On the Sunday morning we will be taking our visitors to view Rick Dennison’s collection in the Warnock’s building and Richmond Harding’s Spitfire and collection then back to the clubrooms for a light luncheon before they all depart. See Frank’s notes for locals attending times The first club run for some months took place on the 21st June. A great turnout of members and cars That’s my lot for this month. Got 5 grandchildren arriving this afternoon, (Sunday) for the school holidays. First time this year, (Thank you Covid 19), Plenty of old stock to be cleaned and put on the shelves. There are 2000 plus new valves that are all mixed up in 12 cartons for them to sort and clean. I can feel another request to go to the pictures coming on. (I don’t think so) Cheers Bruce A

Frank’s Sunday Run – 21 June 2020
It was lovely to see our first ‘Post Covid 19’ gathering on Sunday 21 June bring along some 60 Vintage Car Club Members and friends on a fine, albeit cloudy Sunday afternoon. How great to see so many people out and about and showing how happy they were to meetup with friends again. We sent 25 cars of varying ages and makes away from the Clubrooms at 1:30 pm starting at one minute intervals for a drive in the Country. After a short time on State Highway 3 we travelled through the lower part of the Turakina Valley before finding ourselves in Marton. The return trip through Crofton, South Makirikiri, Fordell and Okoia eventually bought us back to the Clubrooms for everyone to enjoy afternoon tea following their one and a half hour drive.
The thirteen questions on various places or building names etc seen during the drive provided drivers and friends with a good test of their observation skills. Some very interesting answers provided many laughs. The winners Graham and Karen Langridge got all answers correct closely followed by David and Glynis Robinson who only got one answer wrong. Eilidh and Siobhan Pitkethley had a little more difficulty with the questions but took home a delicious looking all day sucker to sweeten them up. Thank you to everyone for a very enjoyable afternoon.

Club Captain’s Report Hello to you all
It was great to see so many Members out for our first event following the Covid 19 lockdown – see separate report on this Club Run for the details. Our July Club Run will be a little different in that it will be on a Saturday (25 July) for Neil Farrer’s special birthday – meet at the Clubrooms at 1 o’clock as for a usual Sunday Run and we’ll head away around 1:30pm returning to the VCC Clubrooms for an afternoon tea provided by Neil. The Club Night for August will be on the 5th with Marion Johnston as Guest Speaker. Marion is a Member of our Vintage Car Club and is the Past President of Rotary NZ. Come along for the evening and enjoy what will be an interesting talk by Marion. The National Executive of VCC NZ will hold their Meeting and the National AGM of the VCC Club in Wanganui from 14 to 16 August 2020 at the Avenue Kingsgate Hotel. This is your chance as a Member of VCC to come along along and listen in to what is happening in your Organisation – you will need to Register with our Treasurer Neil Farrer prior to 24 July if you wish to attend. Please use the form below for registration. The Daffodil Rally will be held on Sunday 23 August leaving from the Memorial Centre Forecourt - you will find an Entry Form in the Rivet $10.00 per car. Monday 12th October: 2pm: Please arrive at the North Shore VCC Clubrooms, 40 Masons Rd, Oteha, Albany, North Shore, by 2pm for our VCC meet & greet, vehicle scrutineering, RallySafe installation, afternoon tea etc. (Exit 410 Oteha Valley Rd off the Northern Motorway). Overnight: Albany Executive Motor Inn, 15 Corinthian Drive, Albany. Tel 09 414 1156 Alternate suggestion: Ramada Albany, Cornerstone Drive, Albany. Hopefully we can all be there together to enjoy a great meal, share stories & experiences from 4 days of our event, along with presentation of Participation Awards for our Targa 2020 VCC Time Trial.
