From the Chair Greetings All, We were all saddened by the news of the passing of Mary Buick, one of the founder members of our Branch. For over 50 years she has served the Branch in several roles and still joined in enthusiastically with Branch activities. It was great to see so many VCC members at her funeral and we will indeed miss her. On a brighter note, we have one Club night to go before our AGM on Monday June 14th, and we hope that we will get a good turn-out for both meetings. You will find a nomination form included with this Zenith, along with a brief outline of the tasks assigned to each position. We have a very able Committee, but there is always room for ‘new blood’ and we would encourage anyone who would like to contribute to put their name forward. Further to the cancellation of the National Motorcycle Rally last month, I was asked by the Committee to offer to host the 2025 Rally when I attended the National Executive Meeting, which offer I conveyed to the Club. The hosting will be confirmed at the AGM in August. I hope that Chris’s reminder about the Reliability Trial has bourne fruit and that Willie now has a good line-up for what sounds like an interesting weekend. From all accounts, it sounds like the trip to White Rock joining with the Wellington Branch

From the Club Captain It was very sad to hear of the passing of Mary Buick, she had been an active member over many years. It has been a busy month, Some of our motor cycle members went on a run at Whanganui, other members took part in the Highland Fling at Taihape. I look forward to hearing from them. The Wellington VCC run to White Rock combined with our Captains Run was a fantastic day with out a good turn out of cars from Wellington and Wairarapa. There were very positive comments from them wanting more runs together. I wrote a quiz to see how observant our members were and the winner was Pat Brown with 9 out of 10 correct. A tip for anyone laying a new lawn this autumn soak the seeds in beer before planting - it will come up half cut. - Hugh Hunter
Recent Events Captains Run Nine Wairarapa cars met with 21 cars from the Wellington Branch at the Royal Hotel, Featherston on a beautifully fine Sunday morning. After coffee, socialising and car inspections, the convoy set off eastwards, through Martinborough and on towards the coast. There was considerable interest from onlookers as the wide range of vehicles passed by, from the Kennedy's 1922 Rolls Royce to a 1938 Fiat Topolino. The Fiat owner commenting on his journey over from Wellington " very slow going up the Rimutakas, but unbeatable going down!" An hour and a half later, and on some very interesting gravel roads, cars started arriving at White Rock Station, quickly filling the space in fron of the shearers quarters. With access to the facilities there, lunch became the main focus. Many also took the opportunity to

drive down to the iconic White Rock itself. From mid afternoon, cars started heading home in their own time, many folk still with a long drive ahead of them. Overall everyone appeared to enjoy the day, and joining with the Wellington Branch gave an opportunity to meet new people and see different cars. Thanks also to White Rock Station manager, Blue Mills, for providing access to the facilities which contributed to the success of the run.

April Club Outing Yarns flew at the Easter Monday social gathering at the Top Pub (Greytown Hotel) in Greytown, organised by Simon O'Hara. This was an opportunity for some of our older members to catch up with newbies and it was a great success. In fact it went so well that there may be some repeats coming up.
