Editor’s Snippet I really am struggling to find anything to put into this months Venture. Forgive me for all the jokes some good, some not so good. Once again, the main reason being the lack of events that the club has participated in under this Covid 19 environment that we live in at the moment, so consequently nothing to write about.
It’s so good to see that Wayne Hayward has put his hands up to do the Ladies Rally. Trust me ladies, if Wayne is doing an event it will be good. The theme is Rest and Relax which lends itself to a wide range of ideas?? Let your imagination run wild on this one. Please keep in mind that members can invite non members to participate in their vehicles Fill the car with friends and gear yourself up for a fun day. A big thank you must go to Ken Price Locksmith in Frankton, who donates a couple of hundred dollars every year to go towards the Ladies Rally. Next time you need a key cut or a lock repaired give some thought to dropping into Ken’s. I’m sure he’ll appreciate it. February club night saw Gaynor Terrill presenting a new revised style of logo for the VCC. After much discussion a show of hands was requested. Those for the new logo far outweighed those against. It now goes to the national body where it will be discussed at the up and coming National Meeting where I presume it will be finally voted on. Watch this space.

Ch a irm a n ’s Ch a tter Chairman’s Report March Hi everyone, it was great to see so many folk at our last meeting. Gaynor presented the proposed new logo to the member’s. After a robust and thorough discussion a vote was taken, the result was a majority in favour of the change. As a local branch we have a few questions mostly around what, if any, supporting advertising will look like and will there be a marketing strategy explored and put in place. Here in Waikato Branch we are pressing ahead with bringing to our Members club events. We now have a plotter to bring us the Ladies Rally this should be a nice, fun gathering run. Ladies polish up your skills and join the other Ladies. And yes th men will all wait on you at this special event. Entry Forms in this mag. A big thank you to Wayne for putting his hand up to plot the run. Our Double 50 is being held after Queens Birthday weekend in June. It will take a new look this year. So prepare your cars now for this event. See the flyer in this Mag. Our new Workshop will be officially opened on 6th March. So come along and see this and thank all the sponsors and the committee who made it possible. The opening will be at the conclusion of the Gypsy Rose run. Many of our Members enjoyed the International Festival of Historic Motoring. It is the main focus to emulate this recent success for our club events. “Come on Folks” get out there and have some fun. S e c r e t a r y Secretary’s Report March Hope you all have survived the blustery storm over the weekend of 12-13th February. What a mess it left with trees, branches, security fences, damage to buildings, sheds over turned for everyone to clean up. You would have received an email from me requesting information with phone numbers, addresses and vehicles you own, have sold etc., 298 emails in total. Thank you to all who have replied by email. Once the Waikato master copy has been completed, I will send to the NZ VCC so they can update the national list. This has been a big job. Updating is an ongoing job, if all members when changing phone numbers, addresses and selling/buying vehicles lets the Secretary know so the master copy can be updated. Thank you. Wayne Hayward has kindly offered to plot the Ladies Rally to be held on the Sunday 10th April. Thank you, Wayne. Thank you to Jillian and Cheryl who came and helped weed the gardens at the Club. If we don’t keep on top of them, it becomes a major to weed. We will have another morning on the 3rd March for anyone who would like to come and help. The early we start the better before it gets too hot. 8am sounds good. Coffee and tea available. Heather Secretary

M o to r c y c le Motorcycle Report March The entry forms for the Mooloo have now been completed and have been emailed out to all the M/C team, it will also be in this Venture. Thanks to those who have already sent theirs. Should I have missed any one that would like to join us, please complete the entry form. I forgot to mention when doing the report on the BS&P about the support that we received from The Honda Shop, they having been doing this for many years now, we are most appreciative. Please see their new advert in the Venture. Everything is ready for our Week End Tour at the end of February. We have 22 people coming, so fingers crossed for good weather.

The Waikato Branch announces formation of an Early Eras motoring group
—The Venturers—
to cater for the special requirements of vehicles produced in the early days of motoring, and their enthusiasts.
Venturers Report - March With the exception of the ‘Big Event’ at New Plymouth, Venturers have been left pretty much to their own devices since our pleasant countryside run back in early December. Down in Taranaki we counted just six of our Waikato Venturers Group qualifying vehicles present with their owners, and one of those was the organiser! But a good mix all the same: Model T, Saxon, Delage, Dodge, Essex and Chrysler. Some even got there on their own wheels, so well done to that group. Now coming up in March (18th to 20th) we have the Venturers late summer longweekend tour. With the ‘traffic light’ at red we can run this event under conditions prescribed. Your accommodation may well want to see your Covid pass, whilst the dinner venue and the boat trip operator certainly will, so don’t overlook bringing that along. Whether you elect to drive from the start at Whatawhata or join in at one of the pick-up points along the way, we will be pleased to see you along for a fun weekend. The group arranged trip by restored boat on the Waihou and Ohinemuri Rivers from the Maritime Park & Museum at Paeroa will be a special highlight to complement whichever of the three touring routes you choose.

Mark was upset and decided to end it all………………… Mark lives in Auckland, he was sick of the World, of Covid-19, Chinese belligerence, global warming, species extinction, racial tension and all the rest of the disturbing stories that occupy the media headlines. Mark drove his car into his garage at home, carefully sealed up around the windows and doorways of his garage, selected his favourite radio station and left his car at a slow idle. Two days later, his neighbour realising she had seen no sign of Mark for a while, peered thru the garage window to see him at the wheel of his car. Immediately she phoned emergency services. Police, firies and the ambulance arrived promptly. After pulling Mark from his car and giving him a sip of water, he seemed as good as gold. Mark drives a Tesla. It now has a flat battery. He also votes Green

Road Runners Moto 60 Motoring
The instigator of the Moto 60 Motoring Group Graham Pate, won’t be around for the May outing and has handed to the baton to me and I am handing it on to you. If you have ever had a “good idea for a run” then now is the time to come out of the woods and let us hear about it. Don’t be shy. Keep in mind the cars are post 60 or the faster paced cars so distance isn’t too much of a problem, within reason of course. The run should consist of a good run ending in an unusual destination. The run is not until May so we have time. If you are new to the club and want to become “more involved” then this is your chance.
