This allows you to print 2 pages up on an A4 or even a booklet if your printer supports it. If you open the magazine file in Acrobat Reader, and select file>print, under Page Size and Handling (see image below), you can print multiple pages per sheet. Click File>Print>Multiple>Pages per sheet> 2 If your printer supports printing both sides of the paper, you can also print a ‘Booklet’. Chairman’s Report
Marty Sutherland Chairman’s Report – December 2020 Again it’s report writing time. A few things to mention, but firstly I would like to give a big thanks to Owen, Heather and all the others who helped make the trip to Awakeri Rail Adventures a memorable one.
Nineteen of us attended, and it was an enjoyable day, and everyone had a great time. See my report page 15. I would also like to mention the Quiz/fish and chip night on the 11th of November. We had 76 people turn up, a great number and the most I have ever seen in the Clubrooms. Quizmaster was our Secretary Chris, who did a great job with an assortment of old, new, and music questions. The teams were split into men against DECEMBER 2020

the women. Sorry girls, the men’s team PIT STOP won. Smartasses and no, I wasn’t in that team. Thank you Neil and Heather, for picking up the fish and chip packets, yes all 76 of them split over two shops, Maureen and Trish for collecting the Topsy’s for dessert, and Trish for organising the raffle, which was a WOF check from Dave Morton at DAM Automotive. This was won by Barbara Stanley, who promptly gave it to husband Murray. Thanks also to the girls in the kitchen and everybody who made the night. XMAS PARADE on the 5th of Deour Range advertisers as they support us cember.Please We willsupport meet on Rifle Rd near the old Council site at 12 o’clock. The organiser will direct us from there. Decorate your cars if you wish. Parade kicks off at 1 pm and finishes in the Tongariro North domain. XMAS DINNER on the evening of the 5th at the Clubrooms. A separate invitation has been sent out that everyone should have received by now, and hopefully, those attending have replied and paid. Cheers Marty

Owen Duncan Club Captain’s Report – December 2020 Welcome to this month’s Club Captain’s report. Christmas will be here soon, where has this year gone! With that in mind, it is time to reflect on the recent club events. Feedback from members who attended indicates they were more than happy with the activities at Waimunga Volcanic Valley, Awakeri Rail Adventures, and the Fish and Chip/Quiz Night. All were well supported by you.
Looking forward, there is the Christmas Parade and our club Christmas Dinner, both on Saturday 5 December. You will have been contacted by now to ascertain your attendance at dinner, and numbers have been confirmed with the caterer. A good number of you are attending. If you intend joining the Christmas Parade with your vehicle, please ring Marty for details on where to meet and timings. DECEMBER 2020

A reminder that The Coffee Club breakfast is on Sunday 6 December. Don’t forget to ring or text me so I can ensure there’s sufficient seating. Please do not email as I won’t have emails available around that time. Breakfast is from 08.30 am onwards as per usual. PLEASE NOTE - We originally had a club Christmas morning tea set down for 10 December at our Clubrooms. This has been changed to Wednesday 16 December from 10 am. If you wish to attend, bring a plate for a shared morning tea. Looking forward to seeing you there. In relation to club runs and our monthly club get-togethers – you don’t need to have a vintage or classic car on the road to participate. Come along in your daily drive if you wish. Everyone is welcome. The more, the merrier. Next year our first event will be The Coffee Club breakfast on Sunday 3 January. Let’s start the year with another large turnout. The upcoming event calendar has been updated and can be found separately in the magazine. Don’t forget, there is also the Club Captains run to Wanganui from Saturday 30 January to Monday 1 February. For those of you who have indicated your attendance, I will contact you early next year to arrange a quick get together to discuss a few details. It is not too late to come along, but you will need to book your accommodation very shortly due to other events being held in Wanganui around that time. If you are having difficulty making a suitable booking for your accommodation, please let me know. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. This is the largest earth dam in the North Island, commissioned in 1967. It is 86 metres high—a great feat of engineering.

We carried on to Awakeri and set eyes upon our steeds for the day – Golf carts on bogies for the railway line which was part of the old Taneatua to Tauranga branch line. This line was built in 1927 and closed in 2001.

We travelled a bit further along the tracks to a lunch stop. Sausages in bread were on the menu, along with bacon and egg pie and savoury scones, thanks for Heather and Trish.
After a bit of a chat, and yes there was an old long drop (dunny) that had been a signal box. Even had a permanent occupant and switches and things for people who like to fiddle in the loo.

After lunch, we carried on to a turntable and pushed all the carts around for the trip back. The trip back was an express run.
It was 10km up and back and a look at some of our lovely countryside – a trip well worth doing. Thanks to Owen for organising this.

Rotorua Vintage & Veteran Car Club Inc proudly present the
9th Annual Rotorua Lakefront Car Show 10am - 2pm, Sunday, 24th January 2021 ALL CARS, BIKES AND COMMERCIALS WELCOME! The venue is the Rotorua Village Green at the Lake Front, off Whakaue Street. This is an informal car show open to any individuals or clubs to display their vehicles. Drivers will be asked for a gold coin donation upon arrival. All monies raised will be donated to St Johns Ambulance Rotorua. Car clubs are welcome to display their vehicles in a group. During the day drivers and their companions can enjoy their own picnic lunch under the trees, or take advantage of local eateries, including Rotorua’s “Eat Street” which is at the southern end of the show area. Rotorua’s famous markets will be in operation adjacent to the Car Show, as well as other holiday attractions.
Over 450 vehicles were on display at last year’s show, and the event has been very popular with locals and holiday makers alike. Vehicles have ranged from early vintage to almost new. The Club Captain’s Run to Wanganui 30th, 31st January & 1st February, 2021 Auckland Anniversary Weekend
Wanganui has some beautiful examples of Edwardian and Victorian Architecture and a real sense of history. This is complimented by the city’s strength in the arts with galleries and quirky cafes occupying many of the heritage buildings and modern street art taking advantage of the big walls. With the activities booked it is time to commit and arrange your accommodation. I have listed below 5 options that I feel might suit you all, keeping in mind their close proximity to the centre of town. After lunch we head north of Wanganui to Westmere , private museum of Richmond Harding to view his Tiger Moth, Spitfire and a mass of memorabilia from his days as General Manager of Wanganui Aero Works and his many years crop spraying and top dressing around Wanganui and the Central Plateau in a Fletcher. This may be about another 2 hour visit. Ok, so now back to into town with enough time to have a couple of drinks before dinner. In morning we can meet as a group at Mud Ducks Café on the riverside, the ladies can have a look around the galleries and boutique shops. Glass Works NZ is in this area where you can blow your own paper weight or watch the professional glass blowers at work. An amazing shop with fantastic viewing. All within easy walking distance. It has been arranged for the men to visit Wanganui VCC who are opening their clubrooms and parts shed for viewing. It will then be time to wind up, either have lunch together or head back home.
