From the Chairperson Chairman’s Chatter Hello Folks.
Time is marching on and we are that much closer to the big Vero International Rally being planned for January, now only six months away. Have you sent in your entry to Mark yet? This is a great opportunity for you all to attend a rally of this magnitude and you never know that this type of rally may not happen again. Your entry will give you access to all venues with professional entertainment every night that you won’t want to miss out on. Everything is now falling into place and entries from around the country are rolling in. The entries close on 31st August so don’t leave it to the last minute. A discussion took place at the last committee meeting around the concern of the escalating costs of the branch newsletter. How we collate, email, print and distribute is all under discussion and we need to have feedback from members so that we can come up with a more modern way and cost-effective way to keep in touch with members. We will come back to members in due course on this. Our Branch will celebrate its Diamond Jubilee on the 15th September this Year “Wow” we have been going for 60 Years so it’s time to celebrate that important occasion. It is the Committees intention to celebrate this on the 25th September at the Plymouth Hotel with a Birthday Dinner. We will also on that day have an afternoon gathering and a drive through Devon Street of our vehicles ending at the Plymouth to celebrate. More details will follow. But keep this Saturday Free. An excellent turnout to the Mountain house for our annual End of Rego Run saw 38 members enjoying the company of other members. Even the continuous rain did not deter the atmosphere inside with a three-piece band playing music that some members stayed longer to enjoy. Thanks again to John Muter for organizing this for us. Bryan Morris and his team are working with members and the Cancer Society to organize the Hawera Motor show in August. Please support this worthy funding cause as we join our other branches throughout the country to raise money through a donation. So, Keep that Passion........ Let’s Get and About........or get that restoration finished for the big Rally. Cheers Everyone!

Coming Events July 15, our Club Night, we will have a visit from Greg Terrill, who will speak on the proposed changes to our club logo. July 18 is the date for an afternoon session with other car clubs at the clubrooms, Harry Duynhoven will be there to answer all your questions. August 22 is the date as mentioned for our Hawera Car Show in support of the Cancer Society. August 26 w ill be our bimonthly Mid-week run, no details at this time. September 18-19 our Rubber Duckie Motorcycle Rally, for more information see Bruce Davidson’s notice. September 25 a s mentioned in Colin’s report the celebration of the Branch’s 60th birthday.
Editors Report As will be noticed elsewhere in this month’s mag your Branch is hosting a Car Show in Hawera in support of the local Cancer Societies. Bryan Morris is doing an awesome job in organizing this but will need good support from you, the members, to make the day a success. He will need cooks for the BBQ we will be using, parking attendants to help with that chore and any other jobs that need doing on the day. He will also need cars for the show, so here is a great opportunity for you to dust off your machine and show it off for a good cause. As mentioned in Colin’s report in September this year the Taranaki Branch of V C C is 60 years young. We can all look forward to celebrating this occasion, details will be circulated to all when they become available. Sixty years, a great milestone for any group to achieve.

Morris Minor Club - VCC ANZAC DAY RUN Sunday 25th April 2021
As our usual day for our monthly outing fell on ANZAC Day, it was an ideal opportunity for an ANZAC-themed run. We met near our first port of call, a little earlier than our usual start time, with instructions how to get to the following nine memorials (mostly war memorials), and with questions relating to most, plus the destination for afternoon tea. Because we were able to use the Vintage Car Club clubrooms for afternoon tea, we invited the VCC to join us and so we were six Morris Minors, a couple of other classic/vintage vehicles, and a couple or three moderns.

It was not a race, but some did seem to zip around and get through the list rather quickly. The weather stayed reasonably fine, with only a couple of spits on us, but wet roads showed there had been some rain ahead of us. One Traveller had a hesitant start, one Modern had a flat tyre halfway, and one car got lost at least once.
