On a suggestion from Don Jenks a collection was taken for the Cancer Society Daffodil Day – no fundraiser was happening this year for the Club so Don thought if we would like to make a donation it would be a good idea. If you weren’t at the meeting and you would still like to make a contribution Treasurer Paul would be happy to take care of this.

September 2020 Beautiful sunshine to begin the week of September 21st. My the grass is growing quickly on the lawn and after 21 years of faithful service our trusty Victa lawnmower has finally developed a large hole in the bodyworks which had been previously repaired so we have decided it is time to retire it. Stuart remarks it has had the same sparkplug for all those years! Has anyone seen where the First Aid Kit is in the Clubrooms, Gary was looking for it on meeting night as it needs to be in a prominent place? Great to see chairs full of members at the October meeting to deal with business and hear of the Executive meeting and A.G.M. that Gary and Martin attended. Much social interaction followed. National Office suggest we should have a register for Covid 19 contact tracing when we are having gatherings. Our meeting sign in book that we use each month will cover meeting nights. Julie Cairns has been awarded 25 years’ service, Mr Rod Brayshaw and Mr John Coombes awarded Life Membership and the John Goddard Trophy was awarded to the Club Archivist Mr Don Muller Congratulations to these dedicated members who work hard to look after the running of our great organisation. Roger Smaill is looking for suggestions for Motorcycle Rally Routes.
WEDNESDAY RUN REPORT 02 SEPTEMBER 2020 We had a beautiful day for the run to Lawrence, on roads which were better than expected. Instructions for this route were written by the late Bill Falconer and had been waiting for us to use (Bill passed away in February last year) 13 vehicles took part on a route that was new to some of the 28 members. We all met up at 26 ROSS CAFÉ for a special time – it so happened that it was 7 years to the month since our first Wednesday run was held there.
Wednesday Run 07 October: - Meet at the Club Rooms 1.30 pm. We have an interesting drive planned through South Otago’s best farming country. Opening Run 10th October10 o’clock in Milton by Taylor Park Gordon Duthie has the Opening Run organised in the Middlemarch area and returning possibly through Dunback or Palmerston for the refreshment stop. A reminder to renew your Warrant of Fitness by October 10th if it lapsed over COVID lockdown. Martin Dodge is still collecting Batteries for Club fundraising. Chairman Robin and Margaret are off to the Blossom Festival Rally this weekend Planning is underway for the 49th Annual Clutha Rally on the 14th of November. We have a dedicated email address (sovccrally@gmail.com). Entries will be advertised on the NZVCC Facebook page. Please update your email address with Noeline.
