The monthly meeting held on 8 May saw 21 members present. Some positive discussion took place regarding the Annual Clutha Rally with a decision to change the format this year to enable easier organisation for the members. The Rally will begin and finish at the Town & Country Club where prize giving will take place and an option to stay for a meal if folks wish. Organisers this year will be Gary Beaumont and Martin Dodge. Badges – Noeline is taking names for Badge orders – get your details to her a.s.a.p. so these can be made. Black print on a white background. V.C.C. Daffodil Day Fundraiser – 25th August. Nicola Wilson of Dunedin has suggested South Otago Branch members combine with the Otago Branch for an event this year.
Wednesday Run Report 5th June –
Gore Branch - an invitation to attend their Annual Dinner has been extended to members. Gerry Kennedy is to receive his 50 year Badge. Meal cost $30.00 pp for 2 courses5.30 Happy Hour 6.30p.m. Dinner .There will be raffles too. Names to Gerry Kennedy 03 208 5806 or 027 233 4634 or Des Brewster 03 208 1960 by 7th July Details are to hand for a Combined Rally to be held 17 th & 18th August 2019 with the Central Otago Branch hosting. This event is open to members of the 4 Southern Clubs and will be based around Central Otago. Beginning Saturday 17th at their Clubrooms in Cromwell for a BYO picnic lunch and Briefing. Following lunch an around the block tour with places of interest to view along the way with a field test or two. Noggin and Natter and Evening meal at the Harvest Hotel. $40pp Sunday Morning Tea at the Clubrooms, visit to places of interest followed by lunch at the Harvest Hotel $20 pp and Prize giving. Rally Badge $15. Entries close on 8th August 2019
Weather fine but cold wind, 13 cars with 29 attendees. Began Clubrooms, Milton, and Waihola turning left to follow Old Main Road following the lake then onto S.H. 1 to Henley Airport turnoff. Right to Henley over bridge, left back onto Old Main Road stopped near end to speak with a lady working on her section. Proceeded back to the Henley Pub Site for Jay to reminisce of times there (Sheila and kids waiting, waiting in the car – wouldn’t happen today – I can assure you) Carried on over Old Henley Bridge where Neville King spoke about the history of the bridge. Afternoon tea was at the Black Swan with thanks to Jay Paterson for organising the outing and Sheila for her report. A very enjoyable day.

Looks like this was a focal point of the area. The local policeman would watch for people coming and going to catch the underage ones but they somehow managed to get their beer, times have certainly changed. This photograph featured on the “Made in Milton “Facebook page a while ago, it is great to read all the info people write of days gone by.

Wednesday Run 3rd July Paul McNabb has organised a trip to the Fulton Finch Collectibles Museum on West Road Milton. Meet at the Clubrooms at 1 p.m. or Taylor Park, Milton 1.30 p.m. $5.00 admission per person. We will then travel up Highway 1 to Waihola for a cuppa and natter. Friends welcome too.
