Dress up your vehicle – 1 p.m. start. July 2019 The members express their sincere sympathies to the families of Michael Bloxham and Graeme Steel. To members, Julie and Liz our thoughts are with you. These gentlemen have been a part of the South Otago Branch for several years and took a pride in their vehicles, enjoyed the activities of the Club and will be greatly missed by all. Michael Bloxham – dedicated family man, worked for the former Bruce County and recently Forestry Roading working the crusher, Past President of the Lions Club and supporter of the South Otago Branch VCC. Michael restored a 1938 Chevrolet which had been in Julie’s family and used on the Beattie farm. Michael and Julie entered the 2018 Annual Clutha Rally where they enjoyed their day with fellow members. Graeme Steel – a capable man, friend to many, restored and motored a Black 1939 Chevrolet, attended many rallies including 2 International ones. A Red 1948 Austin Atlantic is also a vehicle that Graeme and Liz have restored. Family, farming, fishing and vintage motoring were Graeme’s life, he certainly kept busy all over the years.

Club Captain and Beaded Wheels Scribe positions remain to be filled. Robin thanked everyone for their support over the past year. Paul presented the Club financial position, the Club levy will remain the same.
This year the South Otago Branch will combine with the Otago Branch. Gather 1 p.m. at the Carpark on the corner of Elizabeth & James Street (Cowley Electrical carpark) $10.00 per car donation. A run will take place ending at Lake Waihola.

Theme this year is “Mild to Wild” Celebrating 100 years Bentley, 60 years Mini, European Performance and Falcon vehicles. Congratulations to Robin Benington on your many years’ service to the Bus transport industry. What a lot of children you have safely delivered to school and return over the years. Also the many sports teams etc. I fondly remember Robin collecting me at the gate all those years ago for school. Enjoy some time for yourself now Robin. From 22 July Team “Pulled Up In A Lemon” consisting of 4 young N.Z. ladies will embark on the Mongol Rally where they navigate their own route from Prague to the finish line in Ulan-Ude in Russia by September 16th. Ross and Jennifer Pringle’s daughter, Lucy is part of this team, should be quite a journey and experience for them. The vehicle they will use is a 998cc Toyota Yaris – they hope to inspire confidence in more girls in N.Z. I’m sure we wish them all well as they undertake this charity fundraiser journey. July Wednesday Run. 31 people and 19 cars made the trip to the Finch museum. It was noted that empty spaces seen on our last visit were now full of new items, and the vast array of collectables and historic items has to be seen to be believed. Most people then travelled to Waihola for a cuppa and natter.
7th August Wednesday Run – Meet 1 p.m. at the Clubrooms. Gaynor Falconer with assistance from Wayne Batt have put together a run that will remind us of the first Ramble 6 years ago, travelling towards Clutha Valley – destination being The Wild Walnut in Lawrence.
