Chairman Robin and Margaret enjoyed a day trip by train from Christchurch to Picton return. 14 tunnels with a stop at Kaikoura and 1 hour in Picton. Began the trip at 7.30 a.m. and home 8.30 in the evening.

April 2021 Easter has brought the change to daylight saving hours now the days of light are shortening. Time for cosy fires and indoor activities. Snippets from the March Meeting: Gary Beaumont reported on the Executive meeting he attended in Wellington on the Club’s behalf. Club branding options can be viewed on the noticeboard with much discussion taking place for preferred options. A decision is needed before August. Your thoughts are valuable so make sure you check them out. National Office has a new administrator and we welcome Robin along – you can read about her in the latest Beaded Wheels. They also have a new computer system up and running. There are Special Interest Car Groups with falling membership who would like to be part of the V.C.C. of New Zealand. Discussion is ongoing as to the implications of this. On-line Membership has been ratified and will go ahead.

David Renton has offered his usual help with raffles etc. Recent Happenings Paul & Kaye McNabb have been away to the North Island recently to take part in a Model A Rally in the Taupo, Napier and Gisborne area. Motoring often has its challenges and Paul will give a report on their expedition at the meeting this month. Club Captain Martin is still away up North with family and mentioned he had been to check out a Morris Minor National Convention. Wednesday Run – Neville King Reports that twenty two members met in Milton for the Run. Chairman Robin McCall’s passenger was reporter Mr John Cosgrove of the Clutha Leader. Page 14 of the paper gives a good report of our afternoon in the Milton / Waihola district. Thanks to Noel and Roger for organising the outing. Something to look forward to -
Neville King reports that the leak in the toilet area wall cavity has been repaired – a brass fitting was the problem. 3 members took part in the Moped Rally centred at the Wilkie’s place in Clyde. Well organised day with a visit to an undercover Cherry Farm operation at Earnscleaugh of 7 acres. Also visited a vineyard and collection of Fiats. John Cosgrove from the Clutha Leader keen to know of Club events so he can report on same. Roger Smaill reported on the Motorcycle Rally. Don Jenks has offered to sponsor a Cup for the Post 1980’s section which is increasing each year. All entries came via electronic responses. Don Jenks shared 2 poems of Mr Bill Wells who was a Bullock Driver down the bush having also lived in Australia. “The Wreck of the Manuka” and “The Old Bullock Dray” being the 2 titles. He must have been quite the character in his day. Alister Wells of Milton was a Grandson. He was known for shifting a school room from Chaslands to Tahakopa by Bullock Team in 1929.
