brakes. It had a 97% brake efficiency pass which they were very impressed with for the age of the car and is in the highest braking range of any car they have done. The next job he will do on the car is to replace the universals in the drive shaft which are just showing signs of wear. This is something he will do when the universals arrive from Christchurch spares.

June 2020 Autumn leaves everywhere and cooler days as we progress into the winter months, jolly frosty days sometimes don’t seem to thaw all day. We were very fortunate to enjoy some fine weather while the weeks of lockdown continued to keep us in our bubbles enabling a walk most days or working outdoors. It was good to get caught up on a lot of jobs that have been needing attention for some time. We have had no Club outings to report on so have added some other bits and pieces for this Newsletter. The Duthies and Patersons enjoyed the Wolseley Rally held in the North Island including a visit to the Weta Workshops which was very interesting, returning home in time for lockdown. Chairman Robin reports he has had their Plymouth and Zodiac out on several occasions. Advice received that there will be no Auto Spectacular event this year but plan to be back in 2021 bigger and better.
Wednesday Run 01 July 2020 - After an absence of 3 months we have been working behind the scenes to arrange a run for our members and cars. We start at Tokoiti (Milton) at 1.30 pm. Drive to Tokoiti School intersection and pull in behind Ian’s Holden or Neville’s Volkswagen. Directions from here will be given out for the 30 mile run on quiet roads to view a private collection. The afternoon will finish with tea/coffee at the Rosebank Café. Questions phone Neville (03) 4261270. Gordon Duthie reports he is working on an Opening Run to be held possibly 1st or 2nd week of October. Also Gordon has had the Wolseley out taking it for a service check and doing a final brake line bleed after fitting the reconditioned booster. He found that in the past bleeding the brakes doesn’t always clear all the air the first time you do it. Leaving the car to sit even just over night and then doing a final bleed clears air very quickly gaining a firm pedal. All of this was needed for a WOF that came due the first week of lock-down. Lawrence has lost its WOF facility at the local garage and as a result have to go through to Milton 30 Km’s away. The car passed its WOF with no worries and like last year which was the first time they did a warrant on it they were very impressed with the
MILTON POST OFFICE, 21 Nov. 1918. The Influenza Epidemic Eight members of the Milton Post Office staff, out of a total of twelve, are at present off duty with influenza. Some of these are now convalescent, and will shortly resume duty. Those off work comprise four cadets, two telephone exchange attendants, and two letter carrier's, Work is being carried out with difficulty, and the postmaster (Mr. McGuire) has found it necessary to confine the letter carriers' delivery to the main streets only, Tokoiti, Brooklands, and the other deliveries are cut out in the meantime. The telephone exchange will remain open as usual, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
BEWARE OF SCAM REGO EMAILS Taken From June/July Wheel Torque The NZ Transport Agency is advising car owners to ignore and delete widely distributed emails aimed at enticing recipients to a fake website to renew their vehicle licence (rego). “These emails are not from the NZ Transport Agency. They are part of a phishing scam which leads people to a counterfeit website. If you receive one of these messages you should delete it immediately,” said NZTA spokesperson Andy Knackstedt. Since NZTA issued warnings about a similar scam in late2019, several new versions of the original phishing e-mail have appeared. A genuine email sent from the Transport Agency will include specific vehicle details (eg. your plate number, vehicle make and the licence expiry date on the rego label on your vehicle). If any email received does not include specific vehicle details, or there is anything suspicious or incorrect, do not complete the online renewal transaction. Owners who believe they have received a scam email, or are unsure, should email NZTA at info@nzta.govt.nz
