Chairman’s Report

Hi Team, As you will be aware I am filling Kelly’s role (Chairman) while he is taking time out for health treatment in Christchurch. Reports are that he is tired but progressing well, so hang in there Kelly and Janice and we are looking forward to your return. Several other members or partners are also currently facing health issues and to all those please accept as a club our thoughts and prayers for comfortable and full recovery. Also our sympathies go out to John Armiger and family on the recent passing of his wife Denyse. A farewell / celebration of her life and afternoon tea at the club rooms was well supported on Tuesday. Our annual prizegiving and meal at the Clubs of Marlborough was enjoyed and also well attended however only half the award recipients were there to collect their well earned prizes. Trevor has since awarded these to our winners. The 75th anniversary of the VCC combined with the AGM is to take place in Christchurch over the13 - 15 August. The current discussions taking place amongst members and branches re the club LOGO and possible name change could be interesting. If there are further comments or discussion from members please let the Committee hear these by next Wednesday so these can be addressed at the AGM on your behalf. Chris and myself will be attending. Daffodil day is also fast approaching on the 22nd August. As a Branch of the Vintage Car Club we have excelled in past years in our support for this occasion. The generous support for the Cancer Society from many of Blenheim’s business’s and from our branch members along with the many other local car / bike / boat clubs who together, support the event by presenting their vehicles for display. It is, of course, the amazing public response and generosity on the day that makes this a fantastic event for our branch. We have been able to pass on several thousand dollars to the Cancer Society over a number of years. We have all been affected in some way from this horrendous disease, so I encourage you all, please support us again this year and invite members of other clubs whom you may know to join us with their vehicles. Donations of food for the kitchen and offers of help manning the gate will be gratefully accepted please. Always enjoyed is our local Mud Trial which takes place in Okaramio on 29th August. Arranged by Peter Thwaite and team the trail is a fun day out, see advertising later in this newsletter.
