EDITORIAL It’s been a quiet month since everyone has been relaxing I guess, so there is a chance to show an historic photo on the rear cover. What a classic! The weekend was busy what with the Cromwell car show in town and our swap meet the day after (see the report in here). They say if you want it to rain then organise a swap meet! Well the weather was pretty good finally, and great attendance with about 500 people through the gates. We had a report from Alf that when the premises were used recently for caravanning event, they managed to fit 32 caravans in the yard at the clubrooms! That would take quite some arranging, but it seems they enjoyed their time. Gerry Spencer

Wed 20 Jan 8:30am Midweek Muster starting from this week – parts shed – bring your overalls Sun 24 Jan 10am Sunday Run to Como Villa Estate, 266 Earnscleugh Road. A historic step back in time. Meet at Clubrooms, Cromwell, 10 am. Travel to Post Office, Clyde for coffee, then down over bridge along Earnscleugh Road to venue, for lunch 12.30, where we can all park vehicles, on lawn, suggest take lunch, chairs etc., tour of premises $10 per head if required, bar also open and for purchases, travel home at own leisure. Aviation Heritage Museum – steam train running – vintage aircraft – flights – café – stalls etc. Leave Alpine Aqualand carpark (Frankton) 9.00 travel to Five Rivers Café (about an hour from Frankton) corner Main Highway and Mossburn Rd for coffee, allow about half hour, then travel on to Lumsden brief stop to see Rogers Locomotive salvaged from Oreti River 2020, then on to Mandeville Airfield. Arriving approx. 12.15 PM Choices are Picnic Lunch, onsite café, suggest if you decide to go to Café it would pay to reserve ph 03 208 9662, or probable bbqs, at given time (TBA) view Croydon Aircraft workshops along with any restorations in progress, there is a small shop onsite that sells children's ware, art and craft etc. After leaving the airfield, we will hopefully visit John Tremaine’s car collection (TBA). Travel home either by return route or via Tapanui and Rae's Junction. Everybody to wear VCC name badges to aid admittance to Resto workshop; be at workshop door at 1.30 PM. This event will be on Rain, Hail or Shine, for Train etc (air planes may be different) They will set aside an area for our cars to be

Those not going to the combined rally weekend in Invercargill and wanting to do this can contact Brian direct. Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery is running, during February and March, the exhibition “We Drove Here” which portrays the history of motoring in Otago. The plan is to open the exhibition on the 6th February with a car show in Pioneer Park, Alexandra in conjunction with the Craft Beer Festival which is also running the same day. I would like to invite members of the Central Otago Vintage Car Club to show their cars as part of the car show. I am currently working with the Craft Beer Festival organisers on timings for the day and will communicate these to you in due course. I would appreciate the support of your members and would be great if possible to get an idea of numbers in advance of the day. SECRETARY’S WORD We have had a good start to the year, with our informal Wednesday evening and swap meet, the new initiative of combining with the Classic car guys meant that we had a steady crowd coming through keeping our ‘helpers’ busy. Good job guys. Bert our Club Captain has some good stuff coming up. Keep in mind that the V&V rally is coming up in a couple of months, also my trip to ‘Scenicland’ in March. There are new members and prospective members out there, Gerry our Editor is in the process of tidying the e-mail list and separating members from supporters so to speak, if you have changed your address or would like a friend or two to keep up with us please contact Gerry or myself. Also from my point of view I would like a willing soul (Cromwell area would be ideal) to help with the minutes and perhaps some other housekeeping as I’m finding that I do not get enough time to give the job my best. Please note the VIC requirements. And if I retire again I may take up flying! Graham (Secretary) From: office@vcc.org.nz [mailto:office@vcc.org.nz] Subject: completion of VEHICLE IDENTITY CARD/AUTHENTICITY STATEMENT FORMS The VIC/Authenticity Statement forms were altered back in October 2020 with regard to the VTC needing photos of the chassis/frame number and/or engine number of vehicles. Each application you make for a vehicle MUST include these along with the 3 identical photos of the vehicle. Applications will be put on hold until these are supplied, if they do not accompany the application, when submitted to National Office. Please can you ensure that the application forms are completed fully, especially in regards to mileage, engine manufacturer, some history of the vehicle (even if it is only “purchased from Trade Me in April 1999”) and which Branch is completing the form. The Branch is often missing from Non-Member applications and my knowledge of small places in New Zealand is not that great so a Branch name would assist greatly. Kind Regards Jo VCC National Office

COMBINED SWAP MEET 2021 This turned out to be the best Swap Meet that we have held for a long time! When it was first suggested by the Alpine Street Machine Hot Rod Club to combine our resources and hold a swap meet, I agreed whole heartily with the idea as it had lots of merit holding it on the day after the Classic Car Show on Alpha Street. There are a lot of classic car folk who make a weekend of it and would be looking for something to do on Sunday before they headed for home. I gathered a team of keen helpers to help make the day run smoothly; Noel, Alister, Don, Steve, John, Beau, Brian and Alistair Day enjoyed the day and enjoyed selling that elusive part to the many buyers who ventured into the depths of our parts shed. Also for selling bits and pieces of garden art. Well done lads thank you so much. A combined effort from Wendy, Lynne and Clare who did a sterling job in the kitchen selling the food and drink to the steady stream of hungry visitors. Also I must thank Lynne and Ian for making scones to sell in the kitchen. A big thanks to the club members who made the effort to bring car parts along to sell as without you doing that there is no swap meet. Love to see you next year. A very big thank you to Graham for turning up with a very large trailer full of parts. At the end of the day he then donated those parts that he did not sell to the club. There is merit in doing that as he now has spare shelf space at home, made some money, and I bet Cheryl is pleased to see it all go. Other members in the club may like to do that next year. When we were setting up in the rain, I thought this is going to be a washout. How wrong I was to be as around 9.00am the rain stop and the sun emerged to dry us all out! Around 9.30am the crowed started to flow in through the gate and didn’t slow down until ~11.30am. At the Swap Meet debrief it was agreed to do it again next year as we will have more time to organise and advertise it as we all felt that it can only grow from here and will be a very good way of gathering some revenue with really not much effort Cheers
