Katie Treacy ’27 One constant at Villa is the array of brightly colored passcards parading down the halls. Throughout the years we have the same color: for sophomores it’s teal, which means ideally I'll remember to wear this greenish-blue lanyard until I graduate. What I've noticed recently is that the seventh graders now sport a familiar yellow one, a color you may recall last year's seniors were also adorned with. It feels strange to see the same passcard my sister used to wear (and often forget) now belonging to a new generation of Villa girls. What's even stranger is thinking about how the class of 2033 will wear my teal passcard once I graduate. Will they also have to turn around halfway to Villa because they forgot it at home? I think this is inevitable, like the changing of tides, we will always be connected through a mid-drive panic, searching our bookbags. Jokes aside, this bittersweet observation made me realize what a gift the present is.

Seasons are fleeting, soon you will be reading the Christmas issue of Towerette and autumn leaves will lie on the ground covered in snow, which is why I want to remind you to treasure every moment. Many great things are still to come, like the mother-daughter dinner, the winter semi-formal, and sports championships. But look around right now; there is so much going on. Girls are beginning their journey at Villa and into high school, new clubs are being made, friendships formed, and the subtle beginnings of a great year are happening, just under our noses. Rejoice in the smiles of the people you love. Laugh a little louder than you think you should. Give compliments to strangers for absolutely no reason at all and hug your friends like there’s no tomorrow. I urge you to do all of these things, because as Ferris Bueller would say, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” In this issue of Towerette, we reflect on all the great things that have happened this year at Villa, such as sports outings, Septemberfest, new faculty additions, and more…just in case you missed it!
