edaywaspartoftheSynodonSynodality,PopeFrancis’ initiativeto engageyoungpeople inshapingthefuture of theChurchthroughlistening,discernment,and mission.It includedprayer,icebreakers,smallgroupdiscussions,and adoration. Akeyfocus ofthedaywasre ectingonwaysin whichtoliveoutourfaithandfullydedicateourlivesto the Lord.Wealsodiscussedthe upcomingLentenseason,withan emphasis on prayer,fasting,andalmsgiving.

BasilicaCathedral

To complement a eology coursefocusedonthe Sacraments, Sr.HelenSanchezbrought theSeniorClassto theBasilica CathedralinNewark.ere,theynotonlysawand experienced whatthey hadstudiedabout thechurch'sarchitecture,theywere abletoreceivetheplenaryindulgenceofthe Jubilee Year.Intheir journals,theyexpressedhowtheywere impressedbythechurch's grand gothicsize,themassivestainedglass windows,the carved marblepulpitandnumerousstatues,theintricatemosaicStations oftheCross as wellasthe chapelsdedicatedtothedifferent ethnicgroupsresponsibleforbuildingthecathedral.

Aspecialmoment for ourVWAstudents,was recognizing St. LucyFilippini's statue and windowin theItalianchapel.

Mrs.LaganaandMrs.Cheifer areveryproudtoannounce that CeciliaMaoine’25 wonHonorableMention in theceramics category,and SibyllaRamos’28wonirdPlacein thedrawing categoryin the BlackwellHighSchoolArtShow. irteenout oftwentyseven Villaartists had theirartworkaccepted into this juried artshowintheAtriumGalleryoftheMorristown courthouse.Comeseedrawings,paintings, printmaking,mixedmedia,sculpture,andceramics ofthechosen 273out of 703entries from20differenthighschools.

is season hasbeenextraordinary forthe VillaWalshRobotics Team,Sisters1st.Attheir rsteventatMt.Olive HighSchool,the teamranked secondandendedupwinning the playoff bracket as a rst pick.is was thevery rsttime theteamhaswonan event as the captain orthe rstpickin theallianceselection.e teamcontinued theirreignatWarren Hills High Schoolwhere theywereonceagain the rstoverallpickandthe eventwinners. Going backto backaseventwinnersisanincrediblefeatwhich requires immense amounts of preparation,consistency,and alittlebitof luck. KatherineTreacy’27 wasalsoawardedthe Dean’sListawardatWarrenHillsforher individual contributions tothe localroboticsprogram.

Performingsowellatthe qualifying eventsguaranteed the team aspotatthe DistrictChampionship atLehighUniversity.is event had60ofthebestteams from thetri statearea,many ofwhom havewontheir localeventsalready.Even with this increased competitionSisters 1st heldtheirownand ranked 7th.Anunfortunate mechanical failure froman alliancepartner endedtheir playoffrun earlierthanexpected,buttheseason overallwassosuccessful thattheteammore thanquali edfor theworldchampionship inHouston,TX. iswillsurelybean inspirational experienceasthe600bestteams in theworldwill beonfull display.
