Enjoy summer activities and programs in neighborhood parks as well as special events. Highlights include Puppy Yoga at the DGLC July 11, the free Fitness Dayz Yoga at Fischer Farm on July 18 and the free Fitness Dayz Outdoor Bootcamp at Sunrise Park August 15. Check out Fenton students as Live at White Pines continues with local band, Deepfry, on July 16. The Movies in the Park series continues with the free showing of “Sarah’s Oil” July 25 at Fischer Farm and “Selena” at Krempels Park on August 1. Don’t miss two dancing in the park events: Kicking it Old School at Sunset Park July 18 and the Fischer Farm Barn Dance August 22. Event schedule subject to change. SUMMER CAMPS
Summer camp programs are running in week-long sessions all summer long. Register by the Wednesday prior to each session at the Deer Grove Leisure Center. The district offers four distinct summer camps for children ages 6 to 10—Adventure Camp, All-Stars Camp, Fischer Farm Camp and Sports Camp in addition to a teen camp for those ages 11-15. Early Childhood camps run in two-week sessions and include Sunshine Camp, Sunset Camp, Little Rays Camp and Sunny Sprouts Camp. Additional farm camps include Busy Bees Farm Camp for ages 3-5 and the Fischer Farm Teen Leadership Camp for ages 11-15. Before and after Camp programs are also available for campers ages 6-15.
The park district is also offering two exciting soccer camp opportunities at Varble Park. The Bville Jets Soccer Camp provides a high-intensity training experience focused on technical development, skill refinement and preparation for competitive travel soccer for ages 7-14. The camp is offered from 1-4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, July 6-10 and July 13-17. Later this summer, players can train with coaches from Chicago Fire FC during the Chicago Fire Soccer Camp from 1-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, August 3-7. Designed for all skill levels, the camp emphasizes individual technique, tactical awareness, sportsmanship and a love for the game. Participants will also receive a Chicago Fire jersey and a ticket to an upcoming Chicago Fire match. Registration is now open, with deadlines one week before the start of the Bville Jets camps and July 27 for the Chicago Fire Soccer Camp.

EXPLORE 250 YEARS OF ILLINOIS HISTORY
Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with two interactive electronic exhibits from the Museum of Tolerance’s Mobile Museum of Tolerance. Making their debut at the Bensenville Community Public Library—the first location to host them— these exhibits explore the people, events, and milestones that have shaped Illinois over the past 250 years. Visitors will gain insight into how these shared histories continue to influence conversations about justice and tolerance today. On display through July 31, 2026.
MOBILE MUSEUM OF TOLERANCE
Returning to Bensenville for a third consecutive year, the Mobile Museum of Tolerance will be in the library parking lot July 27–31, 2026. A national educational initiative of the Museum of Tolerance, the Mobile Museum of Tolerance is an innovative classroom on wheels offering facilitator-led workshops that combat hate and promote tolerance in schools and communities nationwide.

BENSENVILLE RAILROAD MUSEUM
The Bensenville Railroad Museum, located at Veterans Park on the corner of Main and Church, is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
The museum is hosting a special temporary exhibit, “Mexican Boxcar Camps Era in Aurora, Illinois: 1920-1960,” through August 16. Created by historian and author Dr. Alejandro Benavides, the free exhibit explores the lives of Mexican railroad workers, known as traqueros, and their families who lived in Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad boxcar camps in Aurora between 1920 and 1960.

The Bensenville Park District’s Tiny Tot early childhood programs help mentally, physically, socially and emotionally prepare tots for a life of learning beginning at one-and-a-half years old. Four distinct programs are offered for the 2026-27 academic year: Play With Me for those 18-30 months, Little Sprouts (formerly Tot School) for ages 2-3 and two Tiny Tot Preschool programs (ages 3-4 and 4-5). Children must be age appropriate by September 1. Register at the Deer Grove Leisure Center. More information may be found at BvilleParks.org.
BENSENVILLE WATER PARK
The Bensenville Water Park is open for the season! Upcoming special events include a free Veterans’ Swim July 4, SnoCone Day July 15 and Zumba Surf N Turf Aug. 8. The park district offers a comprehensive swim lesson program designed to build confidence, improve skills and promote water safety. Seven progressive levels of group lessons are available, from Parent/Tot to Level 5, along with private and semi-private instruction options. Fees vary by program. Sign up at the Deer Grove Leisure Center. In-district patrons may purchase 10 admissions for $109 with the Bville Bundle. Season passes are 50 percent off after July 4.
FISCHER FARM SUMMER FUN
Young animal lovers, aspiring crafters and creative minds are invited to spend part of their summer at Fischer Farm with three hands-on programs designed to inspire learning, imagination and fun in a historic farm setting.
Little Lambs invites children ages 3-5 and a parent or guardian to enjoy a morning of farm-themed fun. Participants will meet other families, play games, create crafts and listen to farm stories in a welcoming environment designed for young children. The program is offered from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 12, and again from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. The fee is $15 per child or $10 for in-district patrons.
Children and adults ages 7 and older can discover their creative side during the new Shear Delight: A Sheep Plushie Workshop. Participants will learn basic sewing techniques while creating their own sheep plushie and stuffing it with real wool donated by Fischer Farm’s resident sheep. The workshop will be held from 11 a.m.-noon Saturday, Aug. 15. The fee is $18 per person or $12 for in-district patrons.
Barnyard Soap Box Buddies Workshop introduces participants to the art of soap carving. With guidance from Fischer Farm staff, attendees will transform a simple bar of soap into a farm animal of their choice. The workshop will take place from 11 a.m.-noon Sunday, August 23. The fee is $18 per person or $12 for in-district patrons.

The Bensenville Park District’s Fall Program Guide is scheduled to be in homes at the end of July. Fall registration for those living in district begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, at the Deer Grove Leisure Center, 1000 W. Wood Street, Bensenville. Registration for all others begins Wednesday, August 12. Fall programs begin in September.

REPUBLIC SERVICES collects April through November: individual branches less than three feet in length and one inch in diameter on your regular trash collection day from your regular collection point. Place in biodegradable paper bags or garbage cans with two “Yard Waste Only” labels attached. “Yard Waste Only” stickers can be picked up for free at the Village Hall. Republic Services collects these branches with other residential yard waste.
To discard root balls, break them up into small enough pieces to fit into your trash container.
VILLAGE CREWS collect larger brush on the first full week of each month from April through November with the following regulations.
• Brush may be placed on the parkway for collection beginning the Friday before the scheduled collection week, but no later than 7 am on the first Monday of each month.
• Each street receives a single collection during a scheduled week; placing brush or branches out after the deadline can result in a citation and no pickup.
• Brush piles should be placed on the street side of the property NOT in the alleys.
• Place cut ends of brush and branches towards the street without root systems.
• Individual branches must not exceed eight inches (8”) in diameter.
• Items larger than eight inches (8”) in diameter, materials such as construction wood, branches with nails or spikes, wooden fence pieces, rose branches, poison ivy and grass clippings/rakings are not collected during brush pick-up and must be disposed of by the resident through other means.
• Brush collection is for single-family residences only.
• Contractor-generated brush will NOT be collected.
• NO bundling of piles with rope or wire.
• Branches smaller than three feet (3’) in length and one inch (1”) in diameter should be placed in bio-degradable bags or cans labeled “yard waste only” for pickup by Republic Services.

• 25 students were recognized as Illinois State Scholars, a statewide recognition program facilitated by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) that acknowledges high academic achievement.
• 72 students earned the Seal of Biliteracy, which is facilitated through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and recognizes students who can demonstrate a high level of literacy (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) in two or more languages.
• Students earned more than $4.75 million in scholarships and grants to support their postsecondary studies.
• Students completed 14,083 hours of Community Service in our community, far exceeding the requirement of 25 hours per student and making a real impact in our community now.
We are proud of our graduates as they continue on to postsecondary institutions including both the College of DuPage and four-year institutions, to trade schools and apprenticeship programs, to the military, and directly into the workforce.
Moving forward, we know that working with all community members will be a key to further success as we continue to expand authentic learning opportunities in our classrooms and work-based learning opportunities in our community. We commit to helping each learner at Fenton grow and thrive, and as part of this work, we understand the importance of students developing strong academic and critical thinking skills as well as also developing the Essential Skills, such as: initiative, organization, problem solving, decision making, adaptability, collaboration, and accountability.

‘UNMOVED’ BLOWS AWAY INCUBATOR SHARKS
Congratulations to the student-owned business Unmoved for winning 1st place at this year’s INCubator Final Pitch competition held on May 8. The competition closely resembled the hit TV show “Shark Tank” as students pitched their concepts on stage in front of a panel of advisors, or “sharks,” who decided which companies earn money.
Unmoved developed a lengthy beach towel with zipper pockets at each corner to hold sand and prevent wind from moving the towel. The fabric is a linen from Turkey that prevents sand from getting stuck in the cloth, easily repelling sand from the main towel area with a casual shake.
Our students even had a Shark (judge) join them on stage to try their hand at filling the towel corners and using a leaf blower to see if it moves.

Dear District 2 Community,
As we close out the 2025–2026 school year, I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for being ALL IN. What an incredible year it has been!
From our youngest preschool learners to our graduating 8th graders, we have seen tremendous growth, achievement, resilience, and joy across District 2. Together, we celebrated academic successes, artistic talents, athletic accomplishments, and countless moments of kindness and connection that made this year truly special.
To our students, thank you for your hard work, curiosity, and determination. You showed up each day ready to learn, grow, and support one another. We are so proud of all you accomplished this year.
To our families, thank you for your partnership, encouragement, and trust. Your involvement and support play such an important role in the success of our schools and students.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BSD2 CLASS OF 2026!
From preschool to middle school, our students are taking exciting next steps and beginning new adventures in learning.
Our preschool graduates have taken their first big step and are ready to begin their kindergarten journey. Our kindergarten students are moving on to 1st grade, where new opportunities for learning and growth await them.
We also want to recognize our 5th-grade students as they prepare to leave elementary school and begin a new chapter at Blackhawk Middle School. This is an exciting milestone that marks the beginning of new experiences, friendships, and opportunities.
And finally, the biggest move of all—our Blackhawk Middle School students are preparing to take the next step and continue their educational journey at Fenton High School. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and look forward to seeing them thrive in this next stage of their education.
Each transition represents growth, hard work, and determination. We are honored to have been a part of our students’ educational journeys and cannot wait to see all the amazing things they will accomplish in the coming year and beyond.

DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENINGS
BSD2 offers free developmental screenings for children who are between 3-5 years old. The process takes about an hour and is available by appointment. During your child’s visit, trained professionals will assess key areas including gross and fine motor skills, pre-academic readiness, speech and language, as well as vision and hearing. These evaluations not only help determine eligibility for the District’s free preschool program, but also identify any areas where your child might benefit from extra support before kindergarten. If your child is already enrolled in the District’s preschool, this screening has already been taken care of.
Early developmental screenings are widely recommended by pediatric and educational experts because they allow for timely identification of potential delays. The American Academy of Pediatrics, the CDC, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) all stress the importance of these screenings to facilitate early intervention and improve long-term outcomes. Research shows that early intervention not only supports cognitive, social, and physical development—but also yields significant benefits in school readiness and overall success later in life.

• They help determine if your child qualifies for the District’s free preschool program.
• Even if your child doesn’t qualify, the screening may reveal areas where they could benefit from additional support services before kindergarten.
