KEITH HART President - The Hart Agency Chairman & Honoree - 2026 Long Island Hospitality Ball

W

elcome to the 11th Long Island Hospitality Ball benefiting the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund.

Seeing so many friends and colleagues together reminds me how fortunate I’ve been to spend my life in this industry. From cleaning bathrooms at the Rusty Nail in Queens to promoting nightclubs and building the Hart Agency, it’s been quite a ride. There were successes, a few expensive lessons, and plenty of people who helped me along the way. Those relationships are what I treasure most. My battle with thyroid cancer changed how I looked at life. You can rebuild a business and make money again, but you can’t get back time with the people you love. I was fortunate, and I wanted to give something back. I knew how to bring people together and throw a good party. The idea was simple: create our industry’s own New Year’s Eve, a night for the people who spend their lives taking care of everyone else, while raising money for a meaningful cause. Your generosity has kept that vision alive. This year, I’m proud to recognize my friend and partner, Paul Lepore, President of Happy Days Dispensary Inc.; Jack LaSala, Director of Sales Retail at Empire Merchants; and the Selvaggio family, owners of Robke’s and Birdie Bar New York. Each represents an important part of the community that makes this evening possible. It is especially meaningful to honor my dear friend and mentor, Nicholas Paccione, with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Nick believed in a young guy from Queens, and I have never forgotten his guidance and friendship. We also proudly present the Ed Lowe Media Award to Erin Colton, Emmy Award-winning News 12 anchor, whose work celebrates and connects our Long Island community. Tonight, we remember Lenny Oliva, a visionary restaurateur and member of our hospitality family. We celebrate his life and keep his loved ones, and all the friends we have lost, in our hearts. To our committee, the Hart Agency team, sponsors, restaurants, beverage partners, entertainers, volunteers, and everyone behind the scenes, thank you. You give your time and talent despite the demands of this business. Together, we help support breast cancer research and bring hope to families through the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund. I miss my mom and dad every day, and their love remains with me. To my beautiful wife, Heather, thank you for standing beside me and for everything you do for our family and this event. Our boys, Robert James and Thomas Keith, are my greatest joy. I hope they grow up understanding the importance of friendship, generosity, and showing up for others. Thank you for being here and believing in what we can accomplish together. Enjoy the food, have a drink, dance, and make some memories. Here’s to good friends, the loved ones we carry with us, and another unforgettable night of giving back.

Keith Hart Chairman, Long Island Hospitality Ball

I’d like to start by saying how blessed I am to be honored this year. It truly is special to me because the Hospitality Ball is such a great event for an amazing cause. Looking back on how Happy Days Dispensary came to be, it’s humbling to see how all the pieces clicked into place. My professional path wasn't a straight line. Starting out in business, finance, and consulting taught me how the business world works and how rewarding it is to help people. But stepping into the nutraceutical and pharmaceutical space—getting hands-on with formulation and manufacturing—sparked something deeper in me. I’ve always taken immense pride in finding my own joy by bringing happiness to others. As a devoted husband and father to two incredible kids, every decision I make starts with my family. Without their support, alongside the dedication of my partners, our amazing team, our vendors, and most importantly our fellow Long Islanders who embrace and share in our happy vibes, none of this would be possible. I am forever grateful to all of you. After all, what is the point of trying to spread education and happiness if you have no one to share it with? We wanted to build more than just a business—we wanted a platform to educate, to spread genuine joy, and to uplift our community and other New York licensees navigating this space alongside us. Beyond the dispensary, what grounds me most is the ability to give back. Whether it's helping fund life-saving pediatric heart surgeries for over 150 children, supporting mental health initiatives, or backing cancer research and local underserved communities, that is the work that truly defines us. At the end of the day, Happy Days isn't just a brand name to me—it's a mission to leave this world a little healthier and a lot happier than we found it. Thank you again for your support and never forget to Stay Happy!

Paul Lepore President of Happy Days Dispensary Inc.

Long Island Hospitality Ball HONOREE - PAUL LEPORE

P

aul Lepore is the Founder and President of Happy Days Dispensary, a loving husband, father of two, and lifelong Long Island resident. With over 15 years of experience in the cannabis industry, his passion and expertise carved out the mission and vision of Happy Days: to spread education and happiness while supporting fellow licensees across New York.

Paul began his career in business, finance, and consulting before seizing an opportunity in the nutraceutical and pharmaceutical space focused on formulation and manufacturing. His passion for cannabis aligned naturally with this move into health and wellness, driving him to dive deep into pharmacopoeia, cannabinoid science, and metabolic pathways. Guided by a mission to spread wellness through education, he founded Happy Days as a platform to share that deep scientific knowledge where it was needed most. Beyond business, Paul leads extensive philanthropic efforts supporting life-saving pediatric heart surgeries for over 150 children, mental health initiatives, cancer research, and underserved communities—principles that define the mission of Happy Days and his calling to create a healthier, happier world.

To be chosen alongside so many talented and respected restaurants, hospitality professionals, and industry leaders is an honor that means a great deal to our entire family. A very special thank you to Keith Hart for creating such an extraordinary event and, more importantly, for turning a personal journey with cancer into a mission that has brought our entire hospitality community together. Your vision, dedication, and commitment to giving back are truly inspiring. What began in 2011 has grown into an incredible evening that unites our industry for a cause that touches so many lives. Lou Sr. & Vera

Lou Jr. , Paul, & Mia Selvaggio

Long Island Hospitality Ball HONOREE - THE SELVAGGIO FAMILY Sibling Restaurateurs Redefining Long Island Hospitality For Louis “Louie Sel” Selvaggio Jr. and his younger sister Mia Selvaggio, hospitality is more than a business—it’s a family tradition, a way of life, and a craft they have grown up knowing firsthand. Raised in the restaurant business by their father, Louis Selvaggio Sr., the siblings learned early that great hospitality begins with making people feel like family. That philosophy continues to shape everything they do today, from the restaurants they operate to the brands they help build behind the scenes. Louis grew up at Robke’s, the iconic Northport restaurant founded by his family, where he developed a deep appreciation for hospitality, customer service, quality food, and the importance of creating an experience guests remember. Working alongside his father, he helped transform Robke’s from a beloved local institution into a destination that draws guests from across Long Island and beyond. Under Louis’ leadership, Robke’s has become known for its energetic atmosphere, signature dishes, and unmistakable personality. Among its most recognizable creations is the now-famous Pork Chop Martini, a dish that has become a regional sensation and inspired countless imitations throughout the restaurant industry. In 2023, Louis expanded the family’s hospitality portfolio with the opening of Birdie Bar, alongside Mia. Located just down the road from Robke’s, Birdie Bar brought a completely different concept to Northport—a modern American bar and grill centered around elevated comfort food, craft cocktails, an energetic atmosphere, and a strong sense of community. While Louis is the familiar face greeting guests, running the floor, answering the phone, and creating the larger-than-life personality that has become synonymous with his restaurants, Mia has played an equally significant role in building the brand behind the scenes—and on camera. Mia left her career in teaching in 2021 to pursue social media and digital marketing full time. Alongside her business partner, Michaela, she launched The Amici Group, an agency that has become a driving force behind the social media presence of numerous Long Island restaurants and institutions. Her work has helped shape the digital identities of establishments including King Umberto, Buttercooky Bakery, Piccolo of Huntington, and many others, while simultaneously helping grow the Selvaggio family’s own restaurants. Her background as a teacher has proven to be an unexpected advantage in the fast-moving worlds of hospitality and social media. Mia brings an instinctive ability to communicate, connect with different personalities, and make people feel comfortable—whether they are stepping in front of a camera for the first time or walking through the doors of Birdie Bar or Robke’s. That warmth is central to her approach. Mia has a natural ability to make people feel welcome, understood, and included, allowing the personalities behind a restaurant to become part of its story. Through The Amici Group, she has helped restaurants move beyond simply showcasing food, instead creating content that captures the people, energy, humor, and culture that make each establishment unique. Together, Louis and Mia have created a partnership that combines two sides of modern hospitality: Louis’ deep-rooted restaurant experience and unmistakable presence, paired with Mia’s expertise in storytelling, social media, branding, and connection. Their influence extends well beyond their own restaurants. Through creative collaborations, community events, viral content, and partnerships with recognizable personalities, the siblings have helped turn Long Island restaurants into destinations with audiences far beyond their local neighborhoods. Much of that success comes down to authenticity. Louis is known for being accessible and deeply connected to his guests, while Mia brings that same welcoming energy to the brands and people she works with. Their social media reflects the same philosophy they bring to the dining room: people want to feel like they are part of something. From professional athletes and entertainers to longtime regulars and first-time visitors, the Selvaggios have built their businesses around bringing people together. Their restaurants have become places where guests come not only for the food, but for the experience, the personalities, and the feeling of being welcomed like family. Today, Louis and Mia represent a new generation of Long Island hospitality—one that honors the traditions they were raised on while embracing the power of social media, storytelling, and modern branding. Through Robke’s, Birdie Bar, The Amici Group, and their continued work throughout the Long Island restaurant community, the siblings are proving that hospitality doesn’t stop at the table. It’s about the people, the story, and the feeling you take with you when you leave.

Long Island Hospitality Ball ERIN COLTON ED LOWE MEDIA AWARD

L

ong Island isn’t just the place I cover. It’s home. It is where I grew up, where my family is, and where I learned that the biggest stories are rarely about headlines alone. They are about people, their strength, their heartbreak, their humor... and their ability to keep going.

I joined News 12 Long Island in 2004, fresh out of Syracuse University, as a production assistant. I was behind the scenes, learning everything I could and most likely asking way too many questions. From there, I became a writer, producer, sports anchor and reporter, before earning a seat at the morning anchor desk. I have spent my entire professional career at News 12, and am proud I built that career one job, one story, and one early alarm at a time. Some of those stories changed Long Island forever. I was on the scene when the first Gilgo Beach victim was found, then 13 years later broke the story the killer had finally been arrested. During Superstorm Sandy, I watched neighborhoods disappear beneath the water. And then watched Long Islanders show exactly who they are by helping one another rebuild. Those assignments demanded accuracy and persistence, but they also required compassion. Behind every breaking-news banner, was a family living through the worst day of its life. I have never forgotten that. There have also been extraordinary opportunities beyond breaking news. I have covered sports on the world stage, including the Olympics, and won a New York Emmy for the story of a Long Island man who overcame drug and alcohol addiction by training for an Ironman. That story reminded me why I wanted to be a journalist in the first place: when we tell someone’s story honestly, we can help other people see what is possible. I also have the joy of hosting “The East End.” The show allows me to tell a different side of Long Island. From the perspective of the farmers, chefs, artists, winemakers, small-business owners and colorful characters who make the East End unlike anywhere else in the world. I love finding the places people may drive past without noticing, and introducing viewers to the people who pour everything they have into them. Through it all, the greatest privilege has been the relationship I share with the viewers. When someone tells me, “I wake up with you every morning,” I never take that for granted. Long Islanders have trusted me in moments of crisis, welcomed me into their businesses and homes, and allowed me to celebrate their milestones. That trust means more to me than any title or award ever could. Receiving the Ed Lowe Lifetime Achievement Award in Media means more to me than I can put into words. This Island has given me a community to believe in. My promise is to keep showing up, asking the tough questions... and to never lose sight of the people behind the stories I tell.

Long Island Hospitality Ball IN MEMORY OF

LENNY OLVIA

L

eonard “Lenny” Oliva was a respected Long Island restaurateur, entrepreneur, husband, father, and hospitality leader whose life was built around family, relationships, and bringing people together. Throughout his career, Lenny opened six restaurants and became known for his passion for the hospitality industry. For him, a restaurant was never simply a place to eat—it was a place where friendships were formed, families celebrated milestones, employees became part of something bigger, and a community could come together.

One of Lenny’s final and most meaningful projects was Avianna’s Carriage House in Melville, a restaurant he poured his vision, heart, and energy into. The restaurant was proudly named after his daughter, Avianna, making it deeply personal from the very beginning. Her name on the building represented something much greater than a restaurant—it represented Lenny’s love for his family and his desire to create something lasting that his children could carry forward. Avianna’s Carriage House is more than a restaurant. It is a piece of Lenny, a piece of his family, and a living part of the legacy he left behind. Lenny had a special way of making people feel like family. You knew you were one of Lenny’s people if he called you “cuz.” That one little word carried so much meaning. If Lenny called you “cuz,” it meant he felt close enough to you to consider you his cousin—part of his family, part of his circle, and someone he truly cared about. It was his way of letting you know that you belonged. And then there was Lenny’s big smile—the kind of smile people remembered. It reflected the warmth, personality, and love he brought into a room and into the lives of the people around him. Lenny believed deeply in relationships and in supporting the people who make the restaurant and hospitality industry what it is. One of his visions was to create an Industry Night at Avianna’s Carriage House, a place where people from across the industry could come together, connect, support one another, share stories, and simply enjoy being together. His wife, Patricia Oliva, and his children, Avianna and Leonardo, plan to continue leading Lenny’s legacy by carrying that vision forward. Beginning October 5 at 6:00 PM, Avianna’s Carriage House will become a place for the industry to come together on Monday nights in Lenny’s honor. Monday Night Industry Nights will continue as part of the legacy he left behind—a reminder of his love for hospitality, his love for people, and his belief that this industry is truly a family. If you knew Lenny, if you knew his big smile, if he ever called you “cuz,” or if you simply loved Lenny, please join us at 6:00 PM on October 5 to celebrate his life. Come share a memory. Come tell a story. Come raise a glass. Come be surrounded by the people who loved him. Patricia, Avianna, and Leonardo will continue to lead Monday Night Industry Nights at Avianna’s Carriage House in Lenny’s honor, keeping alive something that mattered so much to him—bringing people together. Every Monday night, when people walk through the doors of the restaurant that carries his daughter’s name, they will be helping continue the vision Lenny started. Lenny’s legacy will not only live through the restaurants he opened, but through his family, his friendships, the hospitality community he loved, and every person who was lucky enough to hear him call them “cuz.” Leonard “Lenny” Oliva — a legacy of hospitality, family, friendship, community, and a smile that will never be forgotten.
