CONTEST RULES 1.
VILA VINITECA proudly announces the 10th AWARD VILA VINITECA A TASTING CONTEST IN PAIRS (“10º PREMIO VILA VINITECA DE CATA POR PAREJAS”) to be held in Madrid on March 26th 2017.

The contest is open to everyone older than 18 years of age who freely and voluntarily would like to participate in it through the in-pairs modality. Employees of Vila Viniteca are not permitted to participate in the competition neither are ex-employees who have worked in Vila Viniteca or associated companies within the last three years prior to the contest.

Registration for the contest will be exclusively accepted through our website at www.vilaviniteca.es/shop, in a rigorous first come first served basis until available places, where the contest will be held, are completely filled. Registration period starts on January 6th 2017 at 00:00 am. As an exception for this 10th edition, the organization will give registration priority to the couples who had won some of the nine previous editions (1st place). This privilege will also be provided to the couples who have been participating in the Tasting Contest in Paris uninterrupted with no changes.

The registration fee is 200 euros per pair. Registration will only come into effect once the payment is received.

The contest will consist of 2 rounds: ‘The Preliminary Round’ and the ‘Final Test’. Each round will proceed as follows: a) 7 wines will be tasted in each round; they may be whites, reds and special wines which, for this contest, are understood as Cavas, Champagnes, Sherries, Ports or other fortified wines. b) All wines will be served to participants in Riedel glasses (Chianti model) and in other Riedel glasses suitable for any of the styles of special wines. c) Each glass will be tagged with a number on the base to identify each of the wines. d) Wines to be tasted are from all around the world with a special emphasis on Spanish wines. Wines are not necessarily part of Vila Viniteca’s portfolio. e) Wines will be served only once in a closed room next to the main tasting room. The process will be supervised and led at all times by Vila Viniteca’s authorized personnel. f) None of the wines will be decanted. g) The Preliminary Round and the Final Test will last 90 and 60 minutes respectively.
