WWF(World Wild Fund) is one of the world’s largest and most respected independent conservation organizations. It works to address global environmental issues, such as climate change, deforestation, endangered species protection, and sustainable development.
Design Idea
I am planning to design a WWF office that immerses people in a ginkgo-inspired environment. The floor plan will be crafted to resemble the landscape where ginkgo leaves flourish. The design of the ceiling and columns, inspired by the shape of the ginkgo leaf, will further enhance the theme throughout the space. The ginkgo leaf, therefore, symbolizes resilience, longevity, and adaptability, which aligns perfectly with the mission and values of WWF. Just like the ginkgo tree, we want our planet’s biodiversity to thrive and adapt in changing environments. The ginkgo leaf also represents hope, which is at the heart of WWF’s work - the hope for a sustainable future where humans and nature coexist harmoniously.

The ginkgo tree symbolizes resilience, healing, and longevity, making it a fitting representation of peace and hope. As the oldest living tree species, existing for over 270 million years, it’s often referred to as a ‘living fossil’. The ginkgo’s remarkable resilience allows it to thrive in diverse climatic conditions, even polluted environments. These qualities resonate with WWF’s mission of conservation, as the organization works tirelessly to protect and preserve the planet’s biodiversity, ensuring a sustainable future for all.

Timeless Tea Heaven, located in the heart of New York, is a tea lover's paradise and a gateway to the vibrant culture gardens in China. Each brew promises a unique sensory experience, capturing the essence of ancient Chinese tea
TIMELESS TEA HEAVEN
culture of Chinese tea. This shop offers a carefully selected range of aromatic teas, hand-picked from the best tea tea traditions.
The Concept
The tea shop is inspired by the enduring elegance of traditional Chinese gardens, a place where people have historically enjoyed the tranquility of nature while sipping tea. The aesthetics of Chinese gardens place a strong emphasis on the art of landscaping, incorporating a variety of techniques and elements. My goal is to capture the spirit of these captivating gardens by integrating fundamental design principles such as scenic borrowing, framing, blocking, clipping, revealing, separating, mirroring, and adding. The aesthetics of Chinese gardens underscore the importance of landscaping artistry, which involves a range of techniques and elements.

Chinese tea philosophy, deeply embedded in the country’s culture and spirituality, is a holistic approach that emphasizes harmony with nature, plant is seen as a bridge between humans and nature, and the act of drinking tea is a mindful practice akin to meditation.

First Floor
The first floor features a merchandise area where customers can shop for tea-related products. As guests enter the tea shop, they are greeted by a stunning feature wall crafted from natural stone, which sets the tone for the tranquil experience that awaits them. The varied textures and hues of the stone, ranging from slate grey to warm beige, evoke the diverse beauty of nature, creating a backdrop that is both captivating and calming
I want to bring a characteristic feature of Chinese gardens into the Chinese tea shop, so I am creating a small Chinese garden scenic area with plants beneath a vine-covered staircase. This utilizes the space beneath the stairs that would otherwise go to waste, transforming it into a picturesque scene that transports visitors into the world of traditional Chinese gardens..

Second Floor
On the second floor, there is a tea showroom and tea room where visitors can explore various types of tea, observe tea brewing demonstrations, and enjoy the art of tea.
The tea shop design embodies a deep appreciation for nature and craftsmanship. It is a space that not only offers a respite from the external world but also nourishes the soul with its beauty and tranquility. This tea shop becomes more than just a place to enjoy a cup of tea; it is a sanctuary where guests can reconnect with themselves and the natural world around them.
indoor Garden
I’ve introduced a unique garden-inspired ambiance. A captivating dry tree chandelier hangs from the ceiling, its branches carefully selected and bundled to form an enchanting focal point. These branches, adorned with interesting textures, gently sway under the warm light, casting intricate shadows reminiscent of a forest. Complementing this, a variety of indoor plants are thoughtfully placed throughout the spacebeauty and tranquility. This tea shop becomes more than just a place to enjoy a cup of tea; it is a sanctuary where guests can reconnect with themselves and the natural world around them.
Vines Handrail
Using dry tree vines as the handrail for my staircase. These vines, with their intricate twists and rustic charm, will weave a touch of organic elegance into the space. Each vine, carefully selected for its unique character, will serve not just as a functional handrail but also as a conversation piece, inviting visitors to appreciate the raw beauty of nature within our design. As guests ascend the staircase, they’ll be greeted by the subtle textures and earthy tones of the vines, creating a harmonious blend of the outdoors and our interior ambiance.”

The Concept
TheDrawing inspiration from Felix Candela’s masterpiece, Los Manantiales, my design for the Outpatient Image Center is a modern architectural interpretation that embraces the elegance and structural innovation of the hyperbolic paraboloid. This distinctive shape, celebrated for its ability to produce curvature from straight lines, is the foundation upon which the image center’s design is built. In homage to Candela’s technique, the roof of the image center extends with a graceful continuity from the interior to the exterior, blurring the boundaries between the built environment and the natural world. This fluid transition not only enriches the aesthetic quality of the structure but also represents the fluidity and seamless journey of care that patients experience within.
