ABOUT

SCIENCE FOR EVERYONE

Public & Science Sweden is a non-profit association and expert organisation whose purpose is to promote openness and dialogue between researchers and the public. We believe that greater communication and collaboration in research is needed to find sustainable solutions to societal challenges.

OUR VISION

Science accessible to everyone! OUR GOALS

• The public to understand what science is and to have the opportunity to participate in research.

• Researchers to have knowledge of attitudes to science and incentives to undertake dialogue and collaboration.

• Decision-makers to make use of science and recognise the value of dialogue between researchers and other parts of society.

WAYS TO REACH OUR GOALS

• Studies, attitude surveys and evaluations.

• Activities in new formats for public engagement, dialogue and co-creation.

• Communication of our own and others’ knowledge and experiences.

• Advocacy work at national and European level.

Public & Science Sweden was founded in 2002 and its members consist of over 100 organisations, such as authorities, universities, businesses, education associations,

JOIN OUR NETWORK!

Public & Science Sweden works in an evidence-based way, guided by the needs of our members. We also test new formats and methods, develop and share knowledge, and provide an open arena for communication and co-creation at the interface between research and society.

By becoming members of Public & Science, organisations can contribute to our work to strengthen access to knowledge and to foster a closer relationship between research and society. Members gain:

• Knowledge via our studies and activities.

• Advice on how to design events, such as dialogue conferences, co-creation workshops and surveys.

• A broad network and opportunities to collaborate with us and our member organisations.

• Priority as a partner in project proposals and at our events.

• Influence over the issues that we focus on, as well as visibility and goodwill.

THE YEAR AHEAD 2026

Borrow a Researcher – schools and workplaces across the country can book a researcher for a visit – either in person or online.

Science & Society Conference – Sweden’s meeting place for researchers, civil society and policymakers. This year’s theme is preparedness, resilience and sustainability.

Almedalen Week – at our Arena for Research and Democracy, research, practice and politics meet in open discussions on current societal issues.

Frihamnsdagarna – we explore the relationship between research and society at West Sweden’s democracy festival.

ForskarFredag (Researchers’ Night) – experiments, activities and dialogue with researchers in 30 locations during Sweden’s most widespread science festival. This year marks our 20th anniversary!

Researchers’ Grand Prix – researchers from across the country compete for a place in a spectacular final, where we determine who is the best in Sweden at presenting their research – in just four minutes!

Forum for Science Communication – the largest Nordic conference for everyone who works with, or is interested in, science communication.
