Approximately 250 people attended the Vermilion Farmerâs Market on September 11 at the Elkâs Hall, helping them celebrate their 40th Anniversary. The first Farmerâs Market in Vermilion was held outdoors in the Town Parking Lot on the first Tuesday of September, 1978 and featured eight vendors. Thank you to our new and longtime vendors...For instance, Jason, from Kathyâs Greenhouse, is a third generation vendor. Thank you also to our patrons; today we have two visitors from Mexico
during their first visit to Canada, Alberta, of the seasonal gems in our community. As a dietitian; it is a subject near and dear and Vermilion. Thank you to Virginia Keep supporting local production of food. to my heart.â Henne (an original member of the Vermilion Farmerâs Market), and Rita Barr, (who was instrumental in getting the Farmerâs Market going as a past member of the Department of Agriculture, which originally sponsored the Vermilion Farmerâs Market). The Farmerâs Market has been my life for a long time, and I love the people that Iâve met,â said Manager, Evelyn Throndson. Guests enjoyed coffee and cake as well as a lunch and shopping from approximately 20 vendors. Throndson was thrilled with the growth of the market over the past few years and the variety of products. Mayor, Caroline McAuley congratulated them saying, âThank you for keeping our farmerâs market alive and thriving; it is one From left, Evelyn Throndson and Mayor Caroline McAuley.
