NABH accreditation for the institution has been renewed with a validity extending for another three years till 21 st December 2019. The NABH renewal assessment was conducted on 23rd, 24th and 25th November 2016 by a team of 7 assessors from NABH and about 78 Non-Conformances (NCs) were raised. The Non-Conformances were addressed and the closure report for the same was sent to NABH.

The celebrations for Nurses Day at CMC began in April with various educational, athletic and entertainment competitions and programs for nurses. Events such as “Block and Tackle’, ‘Just a Minute’, ‘Flower decoration’, ‘Floor Decoration’, ‘Quiz’, ‘Essay writing’, and ‘Poster’ competitions were held. The initiative to hold athletic events this year for Staff Nurses was a huge success as nurses regardless of their age or ability participated enthusiastically in various competitions and bagged many prizes and expressed how their morale was boosted with such extracurricular activities. On the 12th of May, all the nurses in the institution were acknowledged and appreciated by the Office of the Nursing Superintendent and the TNAI with the distribution of Badges and sweets. The area representatives performed this task with joy and enthusiasm. These celebrations culminated in a grand program on the 13th of May where the prizes for all the competitions were distributed. Mrs. Helen Charles, Vice President TNAI local unit welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Anandha Chandran, retired faculty was the chief guest. The Best Nurse Awards were bestowed upon the most deserving among Charge Nurses – Mrs. Latha Madankumar (P1 Ward), Staff Nurses – Ms. D. Violet Rani (Q6 South) and Auxiliary Nurses – Mr. J. Thanga Durai (Q2 Ward) by Dr. Premila Lee, Nursing Superintendent and President TNAI Local Unit for their exemplary service. Vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Margaret Charles, Secretary TNAI Local Unit. This programme was indeed fruitful and blessed where nurses had a great time of fellowship.
Congratulations! • The Cardiac Electrophysiology team comprising of Ms. Bharathi (Staff), Mr. Shiva and Mr. Monik (Technicians) and Dr. Anandaroop Lahiri for having done the first "Zero fluoroscopy" ablation in India on pregnant patient using 3D mapping. • Dr. Sirish Chandra Srinath for receiving the second prize at the Heart Rhythm Bowl 2017 held in Chicago.

Retirements
Mr. James Albert, Sel. Gr. Staff Clerk Gr.I, Department of Psychiatry retired on 1st May, 2017, after 35 years of service. His wife, Elizabeth, had worked as a Hospital Auxillary Nurse in the institution. They are blessed with two children, Dona and Peter, who have both completed their BOT in CMC. CMC community is thankful for their years of commitment to the institution and wishes them a peaceful retirement.
