The India Today Best Colleges Survey was conducted by the Dr. B. Laldinliana Nielsen Company between December 2015 and April 2016 to Hospital : Christian Hospital, Serkawn, determine the best undergraduate colleges across 13 disciplines Mizoram – Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Medicine, Law, Mass Sunday Services : July 03, 2016 Communication, Fashion Technology, Fine Arts, Business 6.00 pm : Scudder Auditorium Ms. Saramma Kuruvilla Administration and Computer Application & Education. For the medical stream, colleges were surveyed from across the country. This meticulous survey was carried out in phases – in the first phase, a comprehensive list of over 2,850 colleges was generated by secondary research. These colleges were then marked by senior faculty of various cities on distinct parameters – Reputation of College, Quality of Academic Input, Student Care, Infrastructure and Job Prospects. After another round of ratings by experts using methods that eliminate bias, the perceptual and factual scores of colleges were collated to arrive at a final score.

CMC Chittoor Hospital Launches Dental OPD People wear new smiles in Chittoor. The dental department was opened for services on 21st June, 2016, at the CMC Chittoor Hospital, and the first set of patients underwent procedures there. A new operatory service equipped with two dental chairs, new instruments, sterilisers and a dental radiology unit is where all the dental procedures will be done. Dr. Anu Jose, a Pedodontist (Paediatric Dental Surgeon) by training, has taken the responsibility of running the facility. This Outpatient Service with a contemporary design was painstakingly built from scratch and is envisaged to provide primary and secondary level dental care. The commencement of the unit was marked by a prayer which was attended by all staff working at Chittoor.
Integrated Sports Day The college Integrated Sports day conducted on 18th June, 2016, at the Oval ground, Bagayam. Dr. Dhayakani Selvakumar, retired Professor, Department of Biochemistry was the Chief Guest and delivered the address. She also distributed the awards to the winners. Retirements Mr. P. Isaac, Sr.Gr.II Artisan, C.S.S.D retired on June 05, 2016 after 32 years of service to the institution. His wife, Mrs. Jebaseeli Isaac works as Sr. Staff Nurse in Surgery OPD. He has two daughters, Mrs. Christina Augustine, who worked in Neuro Office as Jr. Research Fellow and is currently doing her Ph.D and his second daughter is studying 3rd year B.Sc. Nursing in Meenakshi Medical College. Mr. G. Venugopal, Hospital Attendant Gr.I, New Life Centre retired on June 09, 2016 after 29 years of service to the institution. He has a son and a daughter. Son, Mr. James Paul Dhinakaran is a Hospital Attendant in Laundry Department and daughter, Ms. Anitha Arul Selvi is a Lab Technician in Blood Bank. The CMC community wishes them well, as they move ahead to another phase of their lives, thankful for all their services to the institution.
Stories from CMC’s Service And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age – Matthew 28:20 Mr. X was a 35-year-old man from the slums in Vellore. After taking partial treatment elsewhere for cancer of the testis, he approached LCECU for further help, as he was unable to pay for his treatment. He was a driver, but had stopped working due to his illness. His wife had to start working to care for him and their two young children. They survived with his father’s pension and the help of his elder brother, a tea seller. He was referred to Medical Oncology and was facilitated with fund support of about 2 lakhs, mainly from the CMC Centenary Endowment Fund. The LCECU patient support and the family’s own contribution was also sourced for the remaining amount.

Despite chemotherapy and surgery his disease advanced and he was referred to the Palliative Care Unit. The family was rehabilitated towards holistic care and was given a milch animal as an income generation resource. His wife was then encouraged to resume her job at the staff canteen in CMC and the family was bridged with Hope House, which assisted the family through provision of monthly grocery.
