he CMC Chittoor Campus is located in an area which was historically served by Dr. Ida S. Scudder at the roadside clinics. Pre-Independence Chittoor, which was under Madras presidency, was barely 3 kms away from these roadside clinics. On 31st of August, 2016, surgical services at CMC Chittoor Campus were opened to the people of Andhra Pradesh with the launch of the theatre complex, dedicated in a ceremony comprising the reading of a Bible passage and prayer led by Rev. Mani Bhooshanam. The occasion was graced by a message from the Associate Director, Dr. Nihal Thomas, who appreciated all efforts
towards bringing up this campus, especially his predecessor, Dr. Raju Titus; the Andhra Pradesh government for bestowing the privilege and keeping faith in CMC to deliver world-class medical facilities to the people of the state; the Engineering team under the leadership of Mr. Peter, continued by Mr.Gnanasekaran, and Dr. Nandini Korula and her team. Dr. Nihal welcomed all the shareholders of this establishment to take it to greater heights in the coming days and strive to achieve excellence in medical care and nursing services under Dr. Premila Lee. The Deputy Medical Superintendent, Dr. Kishore also appreciated the fervour with which developments have been coming up.

Accident and Emergency Medicine completes 45 th EMTC provide hands-on experience in prioritisation and early management of trauma, comprising 45 th Early Management of Trauma Course lectures, scenarios and skill-stations on (EMTC) at Christian Medical College from various aspects of trauma evaluation and management. 1 st to 3rd August, 2016. Initiated in 1997, this course is an indigenous programme, conceptualised, developed and validated by Christian Medical College. It is the first structured training programme for the Early Management of Trauma in India, designed to
In total, 25 delegates participated in this two-and-a-half day course with an encouraging response.The next course will be open to all as before, tentatively in the month of October this year.

There are 4 spacious state-of-the-art theatres with a sizeable recovery room and day care ward with several other amenities that a modern theatre complex can offer. The facilities promise to be a boon to the people of Southern Andhra Pradesh in particular. With the launch of the surgical services, CMC Chittoor Campus now offers basic medical, surgical, orthopaedic, paediatric, gynaecological and community services, along with numerous OPD super speciality facilities at affordable rates, keeping in mind the wellbeing of the local community and the motto of the institution: Not to be ministered unto, but to minister.
Continuing Medical Education in Haematology The 11th Annual Post Graduate CME in Haematology was jointly conducted by the Departments of Haematology and Transfusion Medicine & Immunohaematology from 4th to 6th August, 2016. This programme targets post graduate students from Medicine, Pathology and Pediatrics. One hundred and forty four students from 34 colleges along with 37 students from our institution attended the CME programme this year. The aim of this annual CME is to expose physicians in advanced post graduate training programmes to the field of Haematology. It is anticipated that participants of this CME will be able to take with them a better understanding of both laborattory and clinical aspects of Haematology at the end of the programme. It is also hoped that by attending this annual CME physicians in training will be sensitised to the opportunities in Haematology as a career, both in the laboratory and in the clinic. The CME programme ran over two and a half days and was designed to include didactic lectures on important topics in Haematology followed by a tour and demonstration in the laboratories. The candidates were given many opportunities to discuss all aspects of Haematology with experts in the field, including the potential for training in this specialty within the country and the career prospects. The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University awarded 20 credit points to this CME. Two quiz programmes were conducted, drawing participation from different medical colleges. On the first day 5th August, 2016, the results showed the following: 1St Prize - Institute of Child Health, Kottayam; 2nd Prize - Madurai Medical College; 3rd Prize – tie between Father Muller Medical College, Mangalore, PSG, Coimbatore and Madurai Medical College. Winners on the second day 6th August, 2016 were: 1st Prize - KMC, Manipal; 2nd Prize - Madurai Medical College; 3rd Prize - Government Medical College, Calicut. Independence Day commemorated at Bagayam
Following this, an assembly opposite the Chapel witnessed the flag hoisting ceremony, presided over by Dr. Debasis Das Adhikari, Professor and Head, Paediatric Casualty. Principal, Dr. Alfred Job Daniel, other faculty members and students were present at the ceremony.

On 15th August, 2016, Independence Day celebrations were observed at the Medical College Campus, Bagayam. A special service was held at the College Chapel, where the message was delivered by Dr. Nihal Thomas, Professor & Head, Endocrinology.

Congratulations! A team of Srilankan youth visited India as part of the India-Srilanka Youth Exchange (ISYE) Programme hosted jointly by Auxilium College, Vellore and Audacious Dreams Foundation – India, in association with National Youth Services Council (NYSC), Ministry of Youth Affairs, Govt. of Srilanka from 22nd to 30th July, 2016. The team was facilitated with a tour of the hospital by the Department of Hospital Management Studies & Staff Training, when they visited CMC on 27th July, 2016. In continuation of this visit, Dr. Samuel N. J. David, Sr. Manager and Head, Hospital Management Studies & Staff Training, was invited to receive the Humanitarian Service Excellence Award, an honour for promoting health and wellbeing among rural people by Global Understanding for Sustainable Development (GUSD) along with ISYE 2016 Secratariat and Audacious Dreams Foundation on 28th July, 2016.
Retirements Mrs. Mariamma, Hospital Housekeeping Attendant Gr. II, O Block, who joined CMC in 1996, obtained voluntary retirement on 8th May, 2016 after 19 years of service. Her husband, Mr. Kondiah works as HHKA in Shalom Clinic. They have three daughters: their eldest, Mrs. Mary Stella is an ANM in Q5 South, their second daughter, Ms. Jemmima, is a Staff Nurse in NHDU and their youngest, Mrs. Hephzibah is a HHKA in Medical Ward. Mr. B. Anandan, Hospital Attendant Gr.I, RUHSA, completed 32 years of service since joining CMC in 1983, obtaining voluntary retirement on 1st June, 2016. The CMC community wishes them a blessed retirement ahead, remembering their dedicated services to the institution.
