A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT & CEO

Each year, the Vegas Chamber’s Washington, D.C. Fly-In brings together hundreds of business, nonprofit, education, government, and community leaders to ensure Nevada has a strong voice in our nation’s capital. This year’s Fly-In comes at an important moment for our state and country. As America commemorates its 250th anniversary, we will begin our time together with Nevada’s America 250th Celebration Reception, celebrating our state’s contributions to the American story and looking ahead. Our time in Washington is about access, relationships, and results. Throughout the Fly-In, we will hear from federal policymakers, national experts, and business leaders on the issues shaping our economy and Nevada’s competitiveness. President’s Club members will also participate in an exclusive policy briefing at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Most importantly, we will meet directly with Nevada’s congressional representatives to share the perspectives and priorities of our business community. We’ll also come together for signature Fly-In traditions, including our delegation photo at the U.S. Capitol and Vegas Night at the Capitol. This special issue of Taking Care of Business is designed to be a resource throughout your time in Washington, D.C. Along with Fly-In information, you’ll find the Vegas Chamber’s 2026 endorsed candidates, a recap of our Nonprofit Symposium, highlights from Eggs & Issues with Congresswoman Dina Titus, insights from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, member highlights, and more. If there is one message I hope you take away from this issue, it is this: We convene with purpose. We show up to have a voice, build relationships, and make a difference for Nevada. Thank you to our delegates, sponsors, partners, and elected leaders for making this important work possible. By showing up, engaging, and speaking with a unified voice, we strengthen Nevada’s influence and help shape a more competitive future for our state. I look forward to seeing you in Washington, D.C. Sincerely,

NEVADA’S VOICE IN THE NATION’S CAPITAL

A

s America commemorates its 250th anniversary, the Vegas Chamber will once again bring Nevada’s business community to Washington, D.C., for one of its most impactful advocacy initiatives. More than 300 business, education, nonprofit and government leaders will gather in the nation’s capital for the annual Washington, D.C. Fly-In, a tradition that continues to strengthen Nevada’s voice where national policy is shaped. For almost two decades, the Fly-In has provided an opportunity for Nevada leaders to engage directly with members of Congress, federal agencies and national policy experts on the issues that define our state’s future. This year’s milestone trip carries added significance as the nation reflects on 250 years of entrepreneurship, innovation, and opportunity, the same principles that continue to fuel Nevada’s remarkable growth. Through the Fly-In, the Vegas Chamber has convened leaders throughout Nevada for the shared mission of advocating for the needs of our state. The results of this engagement have been tremendous: designation and funding of Interstate 11; designation of Tule Springs as a national monument to increase eco-tourism and preserve our natural heritage; more funding for Homeland Security; and continuing to stand against any nuclear waste disposal at Yucca Mountain. The 2026 program combines meaningful policy discussions with exclusive access to Nevada’s congressional delegation. Attendees will hear directly from U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Suzanne Clark, receive a Capitol policy briefing from former Congressman Jon Porter, and participate in sessions examining how federal decisions influence Nevada’s economic future. Throughout the week, attendees can tailor their experience by selecting policy sessions focused on aviation and tourism, artificial intelligence, healthcare, water policy, workforce innovation, housing, transportation, education, and much more.

One of the defining strengths of the FlyIn is the opportunity to build lasting relationships with Nevada’s elected officials and their staff. This year’s program includes dedicated meetings with U.S. Senators, members of Nevada’s congressional delegation, delegation staff members, and the annual Hail to the Chiefs Luncheon, where congressional Chiefs of Staff provide valuable perspectives on the legislative process. Beyond the meeting rooms, the Fly-In celebrates Nevada’s unique spirit through signature events that foster collaboration and connection. Attendees will gather for the Welcome to Washington Reception, the annual Capitol Hill delegation photo, Vegas Night at the Capitol, exclusive President’s Club events and the Nevada State Dinner Gala, hosted this year at the Embassy of Italy. These experiences strengthen relationships among business, civic and government leaders while showcasing Nevada’s leadership on the national stage. Nevada’s business community remains committed to helping shape that future. The Washington, D.C., Fly-In reflects that commitment, bringing together leaders who understand that meaningful relationships, informed advocacy, and a unified voice can help create lasting opportunities for our state.

The Vegas Chamber advocates for business at the local, state, and federal levels. Government decisions directly impact how businesses operate, compete, grow, and hire, and tracking every policy issue is not realistic for most employers. The Vegas Chamber does that work on your behalf, protecting business interests and advancing policies that support a strong, pro‑business climate.

VEGAS CHAMBER ANNOUNCES 2026 GENERAL ELECTION ENDORSEMENTS CANDIDATES SELECTED THROUGH CHAMBER’S GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE REVIEW PROCESS

T

he Vegas Chamber has announced its endorsements for Nevada’s 2026 general election, supporting candidates for state and local offices who demonstrate an understanding of issues affecting employers, job creators, and Southern Nevada’s economic competitiveness. Endorsements were determined by the Vegas Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee, a 29-member body representing a broad cross-section of industries and employers. Committee members interviewed more than 100 candidates during the 2026 endorsement process, considering their positions on economic development, workforce readiness, public safety, transportation, regulatory policy, and other

issues affecting the business community. “The Vegas Chamber’s endorsement process reflects our commitment to ensuring the business community has a strong voice in public policy discussions at every level of government,” said Vegas Chamber President & CEO Mary Beth Sewald. Hugh Anderson, chairman of the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee, said the process focused on identifying candidates prepared to address challenges facing Nevada employers while supporting job creation, economic growth, and a strong business climate. Tourism policies directly affect businesses throughout the region.

•

Federal tax and regulatory decisions can influence Nevada’s competitiveness.

•

DISCUSSION SPOTLIGHT: HOUSING AND GROWTH

C

ongresswoman Dina Titus shared her insights on federal issues impacting Nevada at the Chamber’s Eggs & Issues program at Caesars Palace. Titus focused on several issues affecting Southern Nevada businesses, including housing, small business, tourism, gaming, workforce development, and economic competitiveness. Following welcome remarks from Karlos LaSane of Caesars Entertainment, Hugh Anderson, chairman of the Vegas Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee, opened the program. Matt Kershaw, CEO of Create Credit Union, introduced Titus before Vegas Chamber President & CEO Mary Beth Sewald welcomed attendees and highlighted the Chamber’s commitment to connecting Nevada’s business community with policymakers. Vegas Chamber Chairman Tyler Corder moderated the discussion.

10 TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS

Titus discussed the role of federally managed land in Southern Nevada’s future growth, noting that housing affordability requires more than additional land for development. She emphasized balancing growth with longterm sustainability, including responsible water use, infrastructure planning, and attainable housing.

Eggs & Issues with Congresswoman Dina Titus continued...

Why It Matters • Housing affordability affects workforce recruitment and livability. • Federal land policy influences Southern Nevada’s future growth. • Sustainable development requires coordinated planning for water, infrastructure, and community needs

DISCUSSION SPOTLIGHT: SMALL BUSINESS Titus recognized Nevada’s small businesses as a cornerstone of the state’s economy and discussed the challenges many employers face as operating costs and federal policies continue to evolve. She also highlighted the close relationship between small businesses and Southern Nevada’s tourism industry.

NEVADA BY THE NUMBERS • Nearly 45% of Nevada’s workforce is employed by small businesses. • Approximately 354,000 small businesses operate statewide.

DISCUSSION SPOTLIGHT: GAMING AND TOURISM The conversation also examined federal tax policy affecting gaming. Titus discussed bipartisan efforts to address a provision related to the tax treatment of gaming winnings and losses, saying the goal is to prevent taxpayers from paying taxes on losses that cannot be fully deducted under current law.

LOOKING AHEAD The issues discussed during Eggs & Issues reflect many of the federal priorities affecting Nevada’s business community. Through programs like these, the Vegas Chamber continues to convene business leaders and policymakers to encourage informed dialogue and strengthen advocacy on behalf of Southern Nevada.

VEGAS CHAMBER & VEGAS CHAMBER LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION

FOCUS LAS VEGAS EXAMINES THE FUTURE OF NEVADA’S NONPROFIT SECTOR

T

he Vegas Chamber and Vegas Chamber Leadership Foundation convened nonprofit leaders, elected officials, business executives, and community partners for Focus Las Vegas: A Symposium on Nonprofits, bringing together organizations committed to strengthening Nevada’s nonprofit sector and the communities it serves. Hosted at Wynn Las Vegas, the symposium examined the opportunities and challenges facing nonprofit organizations, from funding and philanthropy to public policy, advocacy, and cross-sector collaboration. Throughout the day, speakers emphasized that nonprofits play a vital role in supporting Nevada’s workforce, delivering essential services, and improving quality of life across the state. Vegas Chamber President and CEO Mary Beth Sewald welcomed attendees by reinforcing the Chamber’s long-standing commitment to convening leaders around the issues that matter most.

14 TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS

“As our state continues to grow, it’s more important than ever that we work together to strengthen partnerships and ensure nonprofit organizations have the resources they need to succeed,” Sewald said. Leadership Foundation Executive Director Cara Clarke echoed that message, noting that meaningful progress depends on collaboration among nonprofit organizations, government agencies, philanthropic partners, and the business community. U.S. Rep. Susie Lee addressed the increasing pressures facing nonprofit organizations, including funding uncertainty and growing demand for essential services. Lee acknowledged that these challenges make it more difficult for nonprofit leaders to plan for the future, but she encouraged attendees to view the moment as an opportunity to rethink how organizations work together.

Drawing on her own experience as a nonprofit leader, Lee challenged organizations to examine their missions, determine whether they are best positioned to deliver particular services, and identify barriers that could be removed through stronger partnerships. She emphasized that the most effective partner may not always be the largest organization, but one already delivering excellent results within the community. The symposium opened with an overview from Dr. David Damore, executive director of The Lincy Institute and Brookings Mountain West, who framed the day’s discussions around the evolving needs of Nevada’s nonprofit ecosystem and the importance of strategic partnerships.

EXAMINING THE NONPROFIT LANDSCAPE Moderated by Dr. Damore, the first panel explored the changing landscape of Nevada’s nonprofit sector and the policy, funding, and operational challenges organizations face. Panelists included Michael Brown of The Lincy Institute, Barbara Buckley of the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, and Miles Dickson of Nevada GrantLab. The discussion examined Nevada’s ability to access and administer federal grant funding, the state’s philanthropic landscape, organizational sustainability, and the growing importance of building capacity to meet increasing community needs. The panel also explored how nonprofits are adapting to evolving funding models, strengthening operational infrastructure, and preparing for future economic and policy challenges.

STRENGTHENING LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY The second panel focused on how nonprofit organizations can effectively engage in the legislative process and build productive relationships with policymakers before, during, and between legislative sessions. Moderated by Erik Hansen of Wynn Resorts, the discussion featured Alisa Nave Worth of Cornerstone Government Affairs, Assemblymember Duy Nguyen, and State Sen. Rochelle Nguyen.

Panelists shared practical strategies for effective advocacy, including building relationships before legislation is introduced, developing strong coalitions, communicating community needs through both data and personal stories, and helping nonprofit leaders better understand Nevada’s legislative process. Speakers encouraged organizations of every size to remain engaged throughout the interim period, emphasizing that meaningful policy change begins long before lawmakers convene in Carson City.

BUILDING STRONGER PUBLICPRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS The symposium concluded with a discussion on strengthening collaboration between nonprofits, local government, state agencies, and the private sector. Moderated by Paul Moradkhan, the panel featured Sara Ramirez of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, State Sen. Marilyn Dondero Loop, Clark County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick, and Assemblymember Selena Torres-Fossett. Panelists explored ways to improve coordination among service providers, streamline government partnerships, expand opportunities for grassroots nonprofits, and better align economic development with community needs. The conversation also emphasized the evolving role businesses can play, not only as financial supporters but as strategic partners contributing expertise, technology, logistics, and workforce resources to help nonprofits expand their impact. Throughout the discussion, panelists agreed that stronger collaboration across sectors will be essential to addressing Nevada’s most pressing challenges. The Vegas Chamber extends its appreciation to Presenting Sponsor Wynn Resorts and Program Sponsors Amazon, Brownstein, the City of Las Vegas, Findlay Automotive Group, The LGBTQ+ Center of Las Vegas, and The Lincy Institute at UNLV for making the symposium possible and supporting conversations that will help shape the future of Nevada’s nonprofit sector.

NEVADA MINING ASSOCIATION

MINING’S LAS VEGAS ADDRESS

E

arlier this summer, I joined UNLV’s Center for Business and Economic Research at its Brews and Economic Views event in Henderson to talk about strategic minerals and metals. The room held students, community leaders, and business owners from across Southern Nevada. Understandably, most of them had never given mining a second thought. Las Vegas runs on tourism, hospitality, real estate, and tech. Mining lives on the other side of the state, or so many Southern Nevadans think. Here is the number that changes the conversation. There are 138 mining supplier companies located in Clark County. Engineering firms. Equipment dealers. Environmental specialists. Law firms with Vegas offices. Lhoist’s Apex Mine has been producing limestone in the Las Vegas area since the 1940s. Mining does not live somewhere else. It is a working part of the Clark County economy right now. Those 138 companies create jobs, pay property tax, generate sales tax on transactions, and support families throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Statewide, mining paid $929.9 million in state taxes in the 2023-24 biennium, including $155.2

16 TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS

million in gold and silver excise taxes that fund K-12 education in every Nevada school district, Clark County included. Here is what is coming next. Nevada was just ranked number 1 in the world for mining investment in the 2025 Fraser Institute survey, with a perfect policy score. Mining executives read that survey when they decide where the next exploration budget goes. The capital they direct is chasing a specific set of minerals. Tungsten, antimony, boron and lithium sit on the federal critical minerals list. They go into batteries, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, and defense systems, and the country cannot afford to keep sourcing them from adversaries. Nevada has the geology and the regulatory environment to be the answer. The next step is domestic processing and refining capacity, and Nevada is positioned to lead there too. The country is asking Nevada to deliver. We need Nevada business leaders behind us and to become advocates for Nevada mining. Southern Nevada’s diversification story is stronger than most people realize, and the future of America’s supply chain security has a Nevada address. Clark County has a stake in it. If you want to know more, visit www.nevadamining.org to see how you can be a part of the conversation. Amanda Hilton is the President of the Nevada Mining Association.

FROM THE SILVER STATE TO THE ALOHA STATE

BUILD CONNECTIONS, EXCHANGE IDEAS, AND EXPLORE SHARED OPPORTUNITIES AT THE HAWAII BUSINESS EXCHANGE SUMMIT OCTOBER 19-21

T

WHY JOIN US?

he Vegas Chamber is heading back to Hawaii for the Hawaii Business Exchange Summit, bringing together business, government, and community leaders to strengthen connections between two states with longstanding economic and cultural ties.

• Exchange ideas: Learn how leaders in another tourism-driven economy are approaching workforce, diversification, development, and business growth.

Often referred to as the “Ninth Island,” Las Vegas shares a unique relationship with Hawaii. Both economies are strongly influenced by tourism and hospitality, and both are working to diversify industries, strengthen their workforces, support businesses, and build greater economic resilience.

• Discover opportunities: Explore stronger business connections between the Silver State and Aloha State.

The Business Exchange Summit provides an opportunity to compare strategies and learn directly from leaders confronting many of the same challenges and opportunities facing Southern Nevada. Previous summit conversations explored workforce development, economic recovery following the Maui wildfires, business expansion between the Silver State and Aloha State, health initiatives, and the role chambers of commerce play in developing the next generation of business leaders. Attendees also heard from Hawaii government and business leaders, including Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi, and learned about major economic development initiatives, including the Aloha Stadium Entertainment District.

• Build relationships: Connect with business and government leaders from Nevada and Hawaii.

• Bring ideas home: Identify best practices and strategies that can strengthen businesses and communities in Southern Nevada.

MORE THAN A BUSINESS TRIP This President’s Club exclusive summit is designed around more than meetings and panel discussions. It is an opportunity to experience Hawaii’s culture, build relationships with fellow business leaders, and develop connections that can continue well beyond the summit. By learning from peers and leveraging the unique strengths of both states, participants can return to Nevada with new perspectives, stronger relationships, and ideas for building a more

diversified and resilient economy.

Join the Vegas Chamber in Hawaii and be part of the exchange. Contact: President’s Club Concierge Shane Hamlett shamlett@vegaschamber.com C: 702-205-5892 18 TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS

A REAL SUCCESS STORY FROM BUSINESS ENERGY SERVICES.

Local facility sees cash back and fast ROI.

In 2025, a facility manager in Southern Nevada decided it was time to move into the 21st century and retrofit their exterior lighting system to something brighter.

This personalized support ensures that businesses can confidently pursue projects that reduce energy costs, improve comfort and contribute to the state’s efficiency goals.

After dark, these lights offered a weak phosphorescent glow that made many employees (along with customers and visitors) feel unsafe.

Project Nightlight shows how a large facility in Nevada made its team and visitors feel safer, got the money back on its investment quickly, and added value to its property.

The ironic feature about these older exterior lighting systems is that despite being less bright, they also cost more to run. There were challenges: like money, time, contractors and the basic concern of where to start. This is why, early on, it’s good to contact PowerShift by NV Energy’s Business Energy Services (BES). An energy advisor plays a vital role in helping business customers navigate the Business Energy Services incentive program. Energy advisors identify eligible energy-saving opportunities tailored to the customer’s facility, usage patterns and the age of the equipment. They guide customers through the application process, help determine which upgrades qualify for incentives, and even assist with paperwork and contractor coordination.

However, upgrades and retrofits at large facilities are far from the only types of projects that qualify for energy incentives. In many cases, the ROI can be 3 years or less. From installing new equipment at small businesses to custom projects for large industrial facilities, we’re here with the guidance, the relationships and the incentives to make all businesses in Nevada energy efficient.

To speak to an energy advisor, call 1-800-342-6335.

R

aise the Future hosted its first Vegas Chamber Nonprofit & Friends event at our Las Vegas office. The event brought together nonprofit leaders, local businesses, and community partners from across the Las Vegas Valley. It was an opportunity to meet new people, strengthen existing relationships and share more about the work happening at Raise the Future. Guests toured our office, met members of our team and saw the spaces where we work directly with youth and families. During the event, our team highlighted several programs and services available to Nevada families, including day and overnight camps, traumainformed classes, pre-service training for prospective foster parents and respite services that give caregivers a much-needed break. “There is something powerful about welcoming people into our space and allowing them to see our work firsthand,” said Brittany Moore, Director of Communications at Raise the Future. “We were able to share our mission, highlight our programs, and build new relationships with people who care deeply about the Las Vegas community. We hope this is the first of many opportunities to bring our community together.”

NEVADA’S NEXT GENERATION OF CIVIC LEADERS

VEGAS CHAMBER HOSTS STATE’S FIRST NATIONAL CIVICS BEE FINAL

N

evada’s next generation of civic leaders took center stage as the Vegas Chamber hosted the state’s first National Civics Bee final, bringing together middle school students to demonstrate their knowledge of government, civic responsibility, and community engagement. Four finalists advanced to the state competition after developing essays that identified challenges in their communities and proposed solutions grounded in civic principles. As part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s National Civics Bee® and America’s 250th anniversary celebration, students tackled real-world challenges through thoughtful essays and competition. Topics included mental health, water scarcity, homelessness, and fostering a greater sense of social belonging, showcasing the next generation’s passion for solving the issues that matter most to their communities.

His proposed solution centered on making information about available services easier to find. Kumar outlined a plan to work with nonprofit organizations, students, educators, and local businesses to develop and distribute resource guides, organize donation drives, and increase awareness. He connected his proposal to the principles of equality, responsibility, and civic participation, arguing that meaningful change begins when citizens identify a community challenge and take action. WHY IT MATTERS • Civic knowledge builds stronger communities. • Students learn how ideas can become community solutions. • Business and community partnerships can strengthen civic engagement.

Congratulations to all of the student participants for their outstanding work.

• Nevada’s young leaders gain a platform to make their voices heard.

Pranav Kumar earned first place and will represent Nevada in Washington, D.C., in October at the National Civics Bee championship, which will be taped for C-SPAN.

The competition demonstrated that civic leadership has no age requirement. By researching local challenges, proposing solutions, and engaging with their communities, Nevada’s students are already putting civic responsibility into practice.

FROM AN IDEA TO CIVIC ACTION Kumar’s essay focused on homelessness in Las Vegas and the challenges individuals face in accessing shelter, cooling centers, food assistance, and behavioral health resources.

Fontainebleau Las Vegas leverages SNWA program to save water As one of the newer resorts on the Strip, the property—known for its luxury accommodations—is finding ways to operate more efficiently. By replacing drift elimination reducers and fill materials in all eight of its evaporative cooling towers, Fontainebleau Las Vegas is significantly reducing water consumption while maintaining guest comfort. Although the resort opened in December 2023, its cooling system was originally installed nearly two decades ago when construction paused during the 2008 financial crisis.

Before

After

Evaporative cooling towers consume significant amounts of water, accounting for about 10 percent of Southern Nevada’s total water consumption. As a result, improving the efficiency of these systems has become a key conservation priority. To support water-saving upgrades, the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) offers incentives through its Water Efficient Technologies (WET) rebate program, covering up to 50 percent of eligible project costs. The Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVVWD) provides an additional $0.75 for every rebate dollar awarded by SNWA, helping offset up to 80 percent of eligible project costs, excluding labor. Fontainebleau received approximately $200,000 from SNWA and an additional $120,000 from LVVWD for the project. The improvements are expected to save about 8 million gallons of water each year.

The upgraded evaporative cooling system qualified for more than $320,000 in rebates and saves 8 million gallons of water annually through SNWA’s WET program.

Since 2001, the WET program has supported the adoption of water-efficient technologies that have collectively saved nearly 29 billion gallons of water across Southern Nevada. Businesses and multifamily properties can learn more at snwa.com or by emailing enterprise.conservation@snwa.com.

LAS VEGAS DROVE SUMMER VISITATION WITH PACKED OFFERINGS, CELEBRATED AMERICA250 CONTRIBUTED BY THE LAS VEGAS CONVENTION AND VISITORS AUTHORITY

The LVCVA also partnered with the hometown U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, one of the nation’s most recognized aerial demonstration teams, for two special flyovers, which paid tribute to Southern Nevada’s role in America’s story. For the first time since 2020, the iconic Thunderbirds soared above the Las Vegas Valley, with their flight path highlighting multiple local landmarks before culminating in a spectacular grand finale flyover of the Hoover Dam.

T

From patriotic America250 celebrations to transforming into the world’s watch party for the World Cup, Las Vegas was at the center of the action and invited visitors to be part of something unforgettable. On Memorial Day, the LVCVA kicked off the summer travel season with a magnificent display at Hoover Dam, one of the nation’s most iconic infrastructure achievements and a lasting symbol of American resilience, that featured a breathtaking red, white, and blue lighting display and a larger-than-life, 45,000-square-foot American flag. A ceremony included remarks from Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson, Bureau of Reclamation Acting Regional Director Genevieve Johnson, and LVCVA President and CEO Steve Hill. The Hoover Dam welcomed visitors to enjoy the awe-inspiring display through July 4.

Each Saturday night from June 6 to July 25, the Strip and Downtown transformed into a citywide party with a free, eight-minute fireworks show. This series was accompanied by programming on the Exosphere at Sphere and synchronized music broadcasts on local radio stations. Excitement also surrounded the World Cup, driving visitation. While not a host city, Las Vegas welcomed visitors from around the world with more than 90 locations throughout the city offering watch parties and specials. This was the premier destination for fans to cheer on their favorite team. These offerings complemented the LVCVA’s “Pack for Vegas” summer campaign, which featured new ad spots that captured the fun and unpredictable excitement that is synonymous with Las Vegas. The humorous TV ads aired during some of the highest-profile events, such as the basketball and hockey playoffs, and baseball’s All-Star Game, as well as across various streaming platforms, to ensure Las Vegas remained top of mind for those seeking a getaway. Visitors from around the world experienced what makes Las Vegas the premier global travel destination, with the impact rippling across our entire community - visitation powers local businesses, drives economic growth, and creates lasting opportunity throughout the destination.

EXECUTIVE WOMEN’S COUNCIL MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

JULIA ROCK, FOUNDER & CEO ROCK CAREER DEVELOPMENT Q. Why do you like the Executive Women’s Council? A. It has been a refreshing experience because the women I have met are so welcoming and kind. In so many settings, women are forced to be “on”—always performing, ready to give the next pitch. But in attending EWC events, I have made genuine connections with likeminded women who are interested in getting to know me as a person, not solely what I do or what services I offer. No one is shoving business cards at you or trying to land the next transaction, but instead they seek to build authentic relationships with you. Q. What is the best advice you have received in achieving your professional goals?

Q. What services does your company provide? A. We provide leadership development solutions via four main pathways: Keynotes; Training Programs & Workshops; Executive Coaching; Leadership Development Program Design & Implementation Q. Q. What motivates you? A. One thing that truly motivates me is the privilege to open the door for someone coming behind me. LEADERSHIP

BUILDING THE NEXT NEVADA The leaders and systems powering Southern Nevada’s continued growth — where infrastructure, development, healthcare, finance, connectivity, research, sports and gaming come together to shape the region’s future. By Kim Dung Ho

Southern Nevada is in the middle of one of the great American growth stories, and it is no longer a story about a single industry. The Las Vegas metro area is now home to roughly three million people and continues to expand at close to 2% a year, growing faster than nearly every comparable U.S. market. Since 2010, the region’s population has increased roughly twice as fast as the average American metro. Behind that headline is a quieter, more important shift: the systems that make a region livable and investable — energy, water, connectivity, capital, care, and place — are maturing in lockstep with the population they serve.

44 TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS

To explore what comes next, we convened leaders from the organizations building and powering that future. The throughline of the conversation was simple: Southern Nevada’s momentum is no accident. It is the product of deliberate investment, long-horizon planning, and a civic culture in which competitors increasingly act like collaborators. Each leader is responsible for a different layer of the same foundation, and the region’s next chapter, they agree, will be defined less by any single mega-project than by the strength — and the coordination — of the systems beneath them.

SMALL BUSINESSES SHOW RESILIENCE AS OWNERS LOOK AHEAD TO GROWTH Latest U.S. Chamber Small Business Index shows small business health is stable despite rising cost pressures

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Small business confidence held steady in the second quarter, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Small Business Index for Q2 2026. The Index score is 66.5, nearly unchanged from last quarter’s 67.0, and slightly above the reading from this time last year (65.2).

expect more revenue growth and hiring in the year ahead,” said Tom Sullivan, Senior Vice President of Small Business Policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “The message this quarter is one of measured confidence: small businesses are still looking ahead, even as they navigate a tougher cost environment.”

Seven in 10 small business owners (69%) continue to report steady business health (was 68% a year ago), but the number citing inflation as their top concern has jumped from 48% in Q2 2025 to 57%.

Many still expect revenue growth and are planning to add staff, even as cost pressures remain front and center.

Positive views on the national economy – which are consistently lower than the local economy – remained similar to a year ago at 30%. Yet positive views of the local economy fell eight points from a year ago with 33% rating the local economy as good this quarter, compared to 41% a year ago. “Small business owners are proving, once again, that they know how to adapt. SECRETARY OF STATE OPENS NEW OFFICE AT LAS VEGAS CIVIC CENTER

Co-location with the Vegas Chamber and Workforce Connections helps business thrive Launching a business in Nevada just became more convenient. Business and community leaders gathered at the Las Vegas Civic Center to celebrate the opening of the Nevada Secretary of State’s new satellite office, further expanding a centralized hub where entrepreneurs can access many of the resources needed to start, grow, and support a business. The office joins the Vegas Chamber, Workforce Connections, the City of Las Vegas Business Licensing Division, the city’s Economic Development team, and nearby Clark County government services, creating a collaborative environment designed to simplify the business experience. During the ceremony, Vegas Chamber President & CEO Mary Beth Sewald welcomed attendees and emphasized the Chamber’s commitment to working alongside public and private partners to ensure Southern Nevada remains one of the best places to start and grow a business. Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar said bringing key business resources together in one location removes barriers for entrepreneurs and makes government services easier to navigate. “Business services are a crucial part of providing comprehensive services to our community,” Aguilar said. “It’s not always easy, and we need to make it easier.” Aguilar highlighted his office’s efforts to modernize business services, including replacing the state’s legacy SilverFlume system through Project Orion. Since the initiative launched, the office has resolved more than 1,000 system issues and reduced average customer wait times from more than an hour to less than five minutes. Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley said the new office strengthens the Civic Center’s role as a destination for business services and economic development. “This truly demonstrates that the city of Las Vegas is business friendly,” Berkley said. “We want to work with everybody, we want to grow our city, and the fact that everybody can come here to do business and not have to go from one location to another location speaks volumes about the city’s commitment to the business community.” 48 TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS
