Last month, Vegas Chamber President & CEO Mary Beth Sewald attended a special Memorial Day lighting ceremony at Hoover Dam alongside Chair-Elect Joyce Smith and Trustee Lori Wilkinson as Nevada launched its America250 summer celebration.
The evening brought together elected officials, business leaders, military representatives, and community partners to honor our nation’s service members and reflect on the resilience and unity that continue to shape America and Southern Nevada. Speakers included Nevada
Governor Joe Lombardo, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority - President & CEO Steve Hill, and Clark County Commission Jim Gibson.
A special thank you to President’s Club member Karl Nickoley of Frequency Pictures, who
oversaw the installation of the flag and lighting display. The illuminated tribute at Hoover Dam will remain on display for visitors through July 4, 2026 — an incredible spectacle honoring both Memorial Day and America’s 250th anniversary.
VEGAS CHAMBER ADVOCACY DELIVERS STRONG PRIMARY ELECTION RESULTS
WHY IT MATTERS
Our business climate depends on electing lawmakers who understand the challenges employers face and will stand with them.
The June Primary Election marked another successful election cycle for the Vegas Chamber, with 18 of the Chamber’s 21 endorsed candidates either winning outright or advancing to the General Election—an 85.7% success rate. This reflects the strength of the Chamber’s advocacy efforts and the business community’s voice at the ballot box.
The Chamber’s endorsement process is guided by business priorities and informed by direct engagement with candidates seeking public office. Candidates are interviewed. Discussions focused on issues including economic development, workforce, education, public safety, infrastructure, and the policies that influence Nevada’s business climate.
STRONG RESULTS ACROSS NEVADA
Among the Chamber’s endorsed candidates, three secured outright victories during the primary election: Nancy Brune and Francis Allen-Palenske were elected to the Las Vegas City Council, while Ida Zeiler was elected to the North Las Vegas City Council representing Ward 3.
The Chamber also saw continued success in legislative races. Seven of the eight incumbent legislators endorsed by the Chamber were successful in their primary elections, while additional Chamber-backed candidates advanced in competitive Assembly and Senate contests across Southern Nevada.
LOCAL LEADERSHIP MATTERS
The Chamber’s endorsements extended beyond the Legislature to local government and education, where decisions directly affect economic development, land use, infrastructure, public safety, and workforce development.
Seven of the Chamber’s eight endorsed candidates for Clark County Commission and city council races in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson either won outright or advanced to the General Election. Chamberendorsed candidates also earned victories in races for the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents and the Clark County Board of School Trustees, reinforcing the importance of strong leadership across every level of government.

As attention turns toward the General Election, the Vegas Chamber will continue advocating for policies that strengthen Nevada’s economy, support employers, and encourage long-term prosperity.
The Chamber’s endorsement program remains one of its most important advocacy initiatives, ensuring the perspectives of Southern Nevada’s business community are represented throughout the electoral process. By supporting candidates who value economic growth, fiscal responsibility, workforce development, and business-friendly policies, the Chamber continues its 115-year tradition of helping create an environment where businesses (and the communities they serve) can thrive.

leaders gathered at the Vegas Chamber’s Eggs & Issues program for a wide-ranging conversation with U.S. Congresswoman Susie Lee and U.S. Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer Neil Bradley, exploring the federal issues shaping Nevada’s business climate.
Following welcome remarks from Vegas Chamber President & CEO Mary Beth Sewald, Chairman Tyler Corder, Government Affairs Committee Chairman Hugh Anderson, and GC Garcia Inc.
President Melissa Eure, the discussion focused on bipartisan collaboration, housing affordability, workforce development, artificial intelligence, and economic competitiveness.
Bradley praised the Vegas Chamber’s influence in Washington, D.C., noting that the Chamber’s advocacy extends well beyond Nevada and encourages business leaders to continue engaging directly with federal policymakers through initiatives like the Chamber’s annual D.C. Fly-In.
One of the discussion’s key topics centered on housing affordability and the impact rising housing costs have on employers and employees alike. Lee outlined bipartisan efforts to advance housing legislation that expands access to affordable housing while addressing concerns surrounding largescale corporate ownership of residential properties. She described the legislative process as one built on negotiation and compromise, emphasizing that bipartisan solutions remain possible even when they receive little public attention.
Artificial intelligence also emerged as a major focus of the conversation. As a
leader in the New Democrat Coalition’s AI Working Group, Lee discussed both the opportunities and challenges presented by rapidly advancing technology. While acknowledging concerns about job displacement, she emphasized AI’s potential to improve productivity and create new career pathways in fields such as cybersecurity, where significant workforce shortages already exist.
Lee stressed that preparing the future workforce will require investments in education, apprenticeships, and skills training so employees can successfully adapt to an AI-driven economy. She also emphasized the importance of developing thoughtful guardrails that protect workers, national security, and environmental resources while allowing innovation to continue.
Bradley noted that throughout history, technological advancements have created entirely new industries and career opportunities, pointing to Las Vegas itself as an example of how increased productivity has enabled economic growth and transformed the workforce.
The conversation reflected the Vegas Chamber’s ongoing commitment to convening business and government leaders to discuss practical policy solutions that strengthen Nevada’s economy, support employers, and prepare the state’s workforce for the future.

The Vegas Chamber and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce convened business, government, and community leaders for a transportation and infrastructure roundtable with Congresswoman Dina Titus, creating an opportunity to discuss federal priorities that will shape Southern Nevada’s future growth and economic competitiveness.
Held at the Vegas Chamber’s headquarters in Las Vegas Civic Center, the discussion focused on transportation funding, infrastructure investment, permitting reform, water resources, and regional mobility as Congress considers the next long-term surface transportation authorization.
Opening the program, Vice President of Government Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Jennings Imel highlighted the significance of the conversation as lawmakers work to replace the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which expires this year. Imel emphasized the need for robust transportation funding, long-term certainty for states and local governments, permitting reform, and investments that support economic growth and national competitiveness.
Congresswoman Dina Titus, a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, discussed the recently advanced
GROWTH ROUNDTABLE WITH
BUILD America 250 Act, a bipartisan proposal designed to build upon investments made through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Titus noted that previous federal investments helped fund projects across Southern Nevada, including Brightline West, airport improvements, extreme heat mitigation efforts, and transportation safety initiatives.
A significant portion of the discussion centered on the importance of maintaining stable federal transportation funding. When asked about the consequences of failing to reauthorize transportation funding, Titus emphasized that certainty remains critical for both public and private sector planning.
“Businesses need certainty,” Titus said. “They need to be able to plan, expand, and make hiring decisions.”
Titus noted that delays in transportation funding can significantly increase project costs as inflation drives up the price of materials, equipment, and construction. Beyond the financial impact, uncertainty can delay major infrastructure projects and make it more difficult for communities to plan for future growth.
The discussion also explored the long-term solvency of the federal Highway Trust Fund. Titus acknowledged the challenges lawmakers

face in identifying sustainable funding solutions while balancing affordability concerns for motorists. Potential options, including electric vehicle fees and other user-based funding models, continue to generate debate at the federal level.
Another key topic focused on Southern Nevada’s long-term water infrastructure needs and the balance between growth and conservation. Responding to questions about recently approved federal legislation affecting Southern Nevada, Titus discussed efforts to advance a critical water infrastructure project that had previously been part of a broader public lands package.
The legislation will help facilitate future water delivery infrastructure while expanding conservation protections and minimizing impacts on existing neighborhoods. Titus described the measure as an example of how Southern Nevada can continue to grow responsibly while protecting natural resources and open space.
Water security remains a pressing concern as communities throughout the Colorado River Basin face increasing demands and ongoing drought conditions. Titus noted that planning for future growth requires balancing development, conservation, and infrastructure investment.
The conversation also highlighted ongoing efforts to improve mobility along the Interstate 15 corridor between Southern Nevada and Southern California, one of the region’s most important transportation links. Vegas Chamber President and CEO Mary Beth Sewald asked for an update on regional efforts to improve the corridor, noting its importance to tourism, commerce, freight movement, and economic growth throughout Southern Nevada.
President and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Steve Hill , provided an update on a coalition of Southern Nevada and Southern California stakeholders working to evaluate long-term improvements
to the corridor. The effort includes a comprehensive feasibility study examining ways to improve mobility, safety, and capacity between the Nevada state line and Southern California.
Hill noted that studies have identified the corridor as one of the most congested and dangerous segments of the interstate highway system, creating challenges for travelers, businesses, freight movement, and the tourism economy.
“The goal is to improve mobility throughout the corridor—not just widen the road,” Hill said.
The coalition strongly supports Brightline West as part of the long-term solution and continues to explore opportunities for federal participation in future corridor improvements. The feasibility study is expected to be completed next year and will help identify priority projects and potential funding strategies.

The roundtable reinforced the importance of collaboration among business leaders, transportation agencies, elected officials, and federal partners as Southern Nevada continues to grow. From transportation funding and water infrastructure to regional mobility and economic development, participants emphasized that long-term planning and strategic investment will be essential to maintaining the region’s competitiveness.
The discussion reflects the Vegas Chamber’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the business community’s voice is part of critical policy conversations that support economic growth, infrastructure investment, and responsible stewardship of Nevada’s resources.
STRENGTHENS FEDERAL ADVOCACY DURING MID-YEAR WASHINGTON, D.C. FLY-IN
The Vegas Chamber returned to Capitol Hill for its Mid-Year Washington, D.C. FlyIn, reinforcing its year-round commitment to advocating for Nevada’s business community and advancing policies that support long-term economic growth.
Led by President and CEO Mary Beth Sewald, the delegation included Chairman Tyler Corder, Chair-Elect Joyce Smith, Government Affairs Committee Chair Hugh Anderson, and other business leaders who met with members of Nevada’s congressional delegation, as well as former Congressman Jon Porter of The Porter Group.
Discussions focused on federal priorities critical to Southern Nevada’s continued success, including workforce development, infrastructure investment, economic competitiveness, innovation, and policies that encourage business growth and job creation.
The Mid-Year Fly-In serves as an important opportunity to strengthen relationships with federal policymakers, provide updates on issues affecting Nevada employers, and ensure the business community’s perspective is represented as Congress considers legislation with local and statewide impacts.
The visit also helped lay the groundwork for the Vegas Chamber’s annual Washington, D.C. FlyIn, taking place September 14-17, when business and community leaders from across Nevada will once again travel to the nation’s capital to advocate for the priorities that matter most to the state’s economy.
Through initiatives like the Mid-Year Fly-In and the Chamber’s annual advocacy mission, the Vegas Chamber continues to ensure Southern Nevada’s business community has a strong voice in the federal policy discussions shaping the future of Nevada.
MAC NIGHT OUT CELEBRATES SERVICE, LEADERSHIP, AND COMMUNITY
The Vegas Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee (MAC) welcomed business, military and community leaders to Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino for its annual MAC Night Out, recognizing the outstanding service, leadership and sacrifice of Southern Nevada’s military community.
Military Affairs Committee Chairman Cameron Dadgar and Vegas Chamber President & CEO Mary Beth Sewald opened the evening by highlighting the Chamber’s longstanding partnership with the military, a relationship dating back to the Chamber’s advocacy to transform the Las Vegas Gunnery School into what is now Nellis Air Force Base. Today, that partnership continues through leadership, workforce development and collaboration with Nellis Air Force Base, Creech Air Force Base, the U.S. Space Force, the Nevada National Guard, and the veteran community.
Guests included Mayor Shelley Berkley, military leadership from across Southern Nevada, and community partners committed to supporting those who serve. Sewald also highlighted the Chamber’s military representation on its Board of Trustees and the continued partnership through Leadership Las
Vegas, which hosts its annual Gateway retreat at Nellis Air Force Base.
The program featured remarks from Major General Ondra Berry, United States Air Force, Retired, and Colonel Desiree Broussard before honoring outstanding service members and military spouses for their leadership and commitment to their communities. The evening also marked the presentation of the inaugural Military Affairs Committee Chairman’s Award, presented to CyRoot Academy for its exceptional service to veterans and military families throughout Southern Nevada.

This important work is supported by leaders of state agencies of workforce, higher education, and economic development.
Some bright examples of the ecosystem are: the seven regional industry sector partnerships that convene almost 400 employers in Southern Nevada; the American Job Center embedded in the Vegas Chamber; a first-in-thenation now being replicated in other regions; and the American Job Center staff member hosted at the LVGEA.

LAS VEGAS DROVE SUMMER VISITATION WITH PACKED OFFERINGS, CELEBRATED AMERICA250

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) curated a vibrant summer lineup of experiences designed to drive visitation and showcase the very best of Las Vegas. From patriotic America250 celebrations to transforming into the world’s watch party for the World Cup, Las Vegas was at the center of the action and invited visitors to be part of something unforgettable.
On Memorial Day, the LVCVA kicked off the summer travel season with a magnificent display at Hoover Dam, one of the nation’s most iconic infrastructure achievements and a lasting symbol of American resilience, that featured a breathtaking red, white, and blue lighting display and a largerthan-life, 45,000-squarefoot American flag. A ceremony included remarks from Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson, Bureau of Reclamation Acting Regional Director Genevieve Johnson, and LVCVA President and CEO Steve Hill. The Hoover Dam welcomed visitors to enjoy the aweinspiring display through July 4.
Each Saturday night from June 6 to July 25, the Strip and Downtown transformed into a citywide party with a free, eight-minute fireworks show. This series was accompanied by programming on the Exosphere at Sphere and synchronized music broadcasts on local radio stations. Excitement also surrounded the World Cup, driving visitation. While not a host city, Las Vegas welcomed visitors from around the world with more than 90 locations throughout the city offering watch parties and specials. This was the premier destination for fans to cheer on their favorite team.
The LVCVA also partnered with the hometown U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, one of the nation’s most recognized aerial demonstration teams, for two special flyovers, which paid tribute to Southern Nevada’s role in America’s story. For the first time since 2020, the iconic Thunderbirds soared above the Las Vegas Valley, with their flight path highlighting multiple local landmarks before culminating in a spectacular grand finale flyover of the Hoover Dam.
These offerings complemented the LVCVA’s “Pack for Vegas” summer campaign, which featured new ad spots that captured the fun and unpredictable excitement that is synonymous with Las Vegas. The humorous TV ads aired during some of the highest-profile events, such as the basketball and hockey playoffs, and baseball’s All-Star Game, as well as across various streaming platforms, to ensure Las Vegas remained top of mind for those seeking a getaway.
Visitors from around the world experienced what makes Las Vegas the premier global travel destination, with the impact rippling across our entire community - visitation powers local businesses, drives economic growth, and creates lasting opportunity throughout the destination.

NOW ACCEPTING GRANT APPLICATIONS FROM DEVELOPERS TO BUILD AFFORDABLE HOUSING
To help expand the supply of affordable housing, the City of North Las Vegas is now accepting applications from housing developers for the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME)/Account for Affordable Housing Trust Funds (AAHTF) for grants years 2026-2027.
The HOME program is sponsored by the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development and provides grants to state and local governments to create affordable housing for low-income households. AAHTF funds are available through the State of Nevada. The HOME and AAHTF funds received by the City of North Las Vegas will be used by qualified developers for affordable housing projects that serve low-income North Las Vegas residents.
A pre-application is required as part of the HOME application process and is available at
cityofnorthlasvegas.com/affordablehousing
The deadline for submitting the pre-application is Monday, Dec. 14, 2026 at 3 p.m. PST. The deadline for submitting the final application is Thursday, Dec. 17, 2026 at 3 p.m. PST.
The City of North Las Vegas will accept and award applications on a first-come, firstserved basis depending on the time of the pre-application and application entry. Award distribution will depend on availability of grant funds at the sole discretion of the City of North Las Vegas.

Iam a recent graduate of UNLV, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in hospitality management with a focus on labor and employee relations. While there, I was able to strengthen my core skills, which include strategic communication and creating meaningful connections. My most recent position was with REI, where I was a customer service representative. In my time there, I was nominated twice for the Anderson Award. This award is given to those who exemplify the co-op’s values in and out of the store on a consistent basis.
Why did you want to work for the Vegas Chamber?
I wanted to work for the Vegas Chamber because they exemplify the meaning of true advocacy, and creating lasting connections to better Southern Nevada’s business community as a whole. The core values of this organization fall right in line with my personal beliefs while simultaneously catering to my professional strengths.
What are you looking forward to most in your new role?
I am most looking forward to learning about my home city as the Vegas Chamber’s Member Concierge. I am eager to listen to and work with businesses of all sizes to be able to fully understand what Las Vegas’s diverse business community is truly made of.
What is at the top of your bucket list?
One activity that has always been at the top of my bucket list would be swimming with a whale. I have
absolutely loved wildlife, the ocean, and the natural beauty of our planet ever since I was a little boy.
What has been the highlight of your past year and why?
The highlight of my past year would have to be receiving a position offer from the Vegas Chamber. I am truly delighted and immensely proud to be working for such an amazing organization, and that happiness extends to all the other aspects of my life.
What do you want members to know about you?
I want members to know that I love knowing the difference between listening and hearing. I love listening to what members have to say, assisting my peers, and making a difference in someone’s life. Owning and running a business of any size is extremely tiresome, but if I can make it that much easier, I am truly happy.

OVintage IS A NEW SHOPPING EXPERIENCE ON NORTH CAMPUS
Experienceeverything Opportunity Village has to offer this fall, from new, high-end boutique shopping and magical holiday traditions to family-friendly scares.
This fall, Opportunity Village will open the doors to its Northwest Campus and with it, a new shopping experience called on North Campus. An elevated boutique featuring a curated collection, OVintage promises discerning shoppers a unique experience every time, and all proceeds will go to help Opportunity Village serve people with disabilities in our community.
The store will be open from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., seven days a week at 5030 W. Rome Blvd. For updates, follow Opportunity Village on social media @OppVillageLV or sign up for newsletters via the website, OpportunityVillage.org.
