A WELCOME MESSAGE FROM OUR

VEGAS CHAMBER

PRESIDENT & CEO

As we kick off 2026, I want to share how much I enjoyed seeing so many of you at Preview Las Vegas. This year’s program was energizing and insightful, bringing together experts, partners, and leaders who are committed to shaping a strong, vibrant future for Southern Nevada.

Looking ahead, the Vegas Chamber has several events to help you engage in the community. The Southern Nevada Forum kicks off on February 23, from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. at Las Vegas City Hall. This is a critical opportunity for our region to align on the priorities we will advance during the 2027 Legislature. This convening ensures our community speaks with one unified voice on the issues that matter most. I urge you to be part of it.

On March 18, we will launch our new symposia series, Focus Las Vegas. The first session— Focus on Healthcare—will examine what Southern Nevada needs to expand our healthcare workforce and improve access to medical services. I encourage you to join us for this essential conversation.

And make sure you join us April 2, to welcome Governor Joe Lombardo to our first Business Power Luncheon of the year. This is a special opportunity to hear directly from the leader of our state about the challenges and opportunities shaping Nevada’s future. You will not want to miss it

No other organization in Nevada convenes and connects leaders like the Vegas Chamber. We are proud to bring together the people, ideas, and partnerships that strengthen our state and celebrate our community.

Thank you for being part of the Vegas Chamber. And if you’re not yet a member, now is the perfect time to join us. Together, we can build an even stronger Southern Nevada.

WELCOME TO FABULOUS PREVIEW LAS VEGAS 2026

INSIGHT, INNOVATION, AND MOMENTUM

More than 1,500 business and community leaders gathered January 30 at Wynn Las Vegas for Preview Las Vegas 2026, the Vegas Chamber’s signature economic forecasting event and one of the region’s most anticipated annual convenings.

Hosted by dynamic TV personality and content creator JJ Snyder, the program delivered a full morning of insight into what lies ahead for Southern Nevada’s economy, industries, and workforce. Set against the backdrop of one of the world’s most iconic destinations, the event reinforced a central theme echoed throughout the day: Las Vegas continues to set the pace as the greatest arena on earth.

Opening the program, Wynn Resorts Vice President of Community Relations Monica Moradkhan welcomed attendees and underscored the importance of collaboration across hospitality, tourism, business and leadership. She noted that “fabulous” is more than a slogan for Las Vegas—it is a promise rooted in ambition, creativity and the confidence to think bigger.

Immediate Past Chairwoman of the Vegas Chamber Janet Uthman, market leader and vice president at Cox Communications, the Presenting Sponsor of Preview, highlighted the Chamber’s expanding role in supporting employers across the region. She encouraged attendees to engage with the event’s exhibitor showcase, including the Small Business Resource Row, which featured tools, partners, and services designed to help businesses at every stage of growth.

Vegas Chamber President and CEO Mary Beth Sewald welcomed the audience with a message centered on momentum, collaboration, and long-term vision. She reflected on the Chamber’s history of convening leaders around bold ideas, many of which have since become defining assets for the region. “Preview Las Vegas has always been the place where our business community comes together to hear from thought leaders about what’s next,” Sewald said, emphasizing the importance of unified action as the region continues to diversify its economy and expand opportunity.

A Program Built for What’s Next

The 2026 agenda featured a lineup of high-profile conversations spanning sports, hospitality, economics, policy and innovation.

Economic forecasting remained a cornerstone of the program. Jeremy Aguero delivered the annual Economic Outlook, offering data-driven insights into growth, consumer behavior, and long-term resilience.

“Consumer confidence is at one of the lowest levels we’ve ever recorded—lower than after 9/11, the Great Recession and even COVID—but the data tells a different story. Since pre-pandemic levels, the national economy is up 16%, and corporate profits after tax are up 80%. Are there challenges? Absolutely. But the idea that the economy is collapsing or that consumers have stopped moving forward just isn’t true.”

Aguero, Principal Analyst, Applied Analysis

One of the morning’s most anticipated sessions, “Game Changers: Breaking Barriers, Building Legacies,” brought together leaders from Las Vegas’ championship sports ecosystem. The panel featured Las Vegas Raiders CEO Sandra Douglass Morgan, Las Vegas Aces President Nikki Fargas, and Mary Beth Sewald, exploring leadership, representation and the broader economic and cultural impact of professional sports in Southern Nevada.

“There are three rules for sustaining success: protect the brand, no whining—no complaining—no excuses, and be prepared. Protecting the brand means protecting our identity, our team, and our community. Preparation cancels out anxiety and pressure, and it allows us to stay innovative, creative, and ahead of what’s next. That championship mindset applies not just to basketball, but to our business culture as well.”

Hospitality took center stage during the Titans of Hospitality session, with insights from Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority President and CEO Steve Hill, MGM Resorts International President and CEO Bill Hornbuckle, and Boyd Gaming President and CEO Keith Smith, who discussed tourism trends, global competition and what continues to make Las Vegas a premier destination. “There’s a core demand for Las Vegas. People are still spending money, consumers have healthy balance sheets, and this market will rebound,” Keith Smith stated.

Dr. David Damore, executive director of Brookings Mountain West and the Lincy Institute at UNLV followed with a big-picture examination of regional dynamics, including the Healthcare Economy: A Regional “Fiver-fer”. He described how investing in healthcare to increase access will grow the number of jobs in Southern Nevada and help residents get the care

they need. He also addressed the need to modernize Nevada’s governance structure.

New this year was a focused conversation on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, examining how innovation is reshaping business strategy, operations, and growth across Nevada with Adam Schlachter of WPP Media and Michael O’Brien of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

Beyond the stage, Preview Las Vegas delivered unmatched opportunities for connection through an expanded expo hall, networking experiences, and the Small Business Resource Row, reinforcing the Chamber’s commitment to serving employers of all sizes. Preview Las Vegas 2026 once again demonstrated the power of convening leaders around insight, access and action. As the program concluded, one message was clear: when Las Vegas comes together with purpose, great things are achieved.

VEGAS CHAMBER INSTALLATION OF TRUSTEES 2026

CHAIRMAN TYLER CORDER

Tyler Corder, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Findlay Automotive Group, was officially sworn in as the 2026 chairman of the Vegas Chamber during the organization’s annual State of the Vegas Chamber and Trustee Installation Luncheon, held Dec. 12, 2025, at Resorts World Las Vegas. The event drew more than 800 business and community leaders from across Southern Nevada.

Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo addressed attendees, sharing his insights on the state’s current business climate and future growth opportunities. Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley administered the oath of office to Corder and the 2026 Board of Trustees, a group of 40 business and community leaders tasked with overseeing the Chamber’s governance, financial strength, and strategic direction. It was also announced that Joyce Smith, senior vice president of MidFirst Commercial Banking, will serve as the Chamber’s chair in 2027.

In his remarks, Corder outlined a forward-thinking agenda focused on strengthening the region’s economy, supporting small businesses, and investing in workforce development. He emphasized the importance of preparing for the 2027 legislative session by supporting pro-business candidates and addressing long-term economic challenges through collaboration and advocacy.

“The Chamber represents stability. It represents vitality,” Corder told the audience. “The Vegas Chamber has seen our community through some difficult times. Because through the Chamber, we—the business community—are united as one. And when this city comes together, works as a team to tackle challenges, we have always achieved great things.”

Vegas Chamber President and CEO Mary Beth Sewald praised Corder’s vision and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to job creation and economic resilience.

“I’m incredibly excited to partner with Chairman Tyler Corder and our 2026 Board of Trustees as we continue advancing the Chamber’s mission to cultivate growth and prosperity throughout Nevada,”

said Sewald. “Tyler’s deep commitment to our business community, paired with the expertise and leadership of our Board, positions the Vegas Chamber and our members for an exceptional year ahead. Together, we will champion policies that strengthen our economy, support our employers, and create new opportunities for Nevadans.”

The Chamber also expressed its gratitude to 2025 Chairwoman Janet Uthman, vice president and market leader at Cox Communications, for her exceptional leadership during the past year. Highlights from her term included the Chamber’s relocation to Las Vegas Civic Center and the launch of the Small Business Resource Center—both aimed at better serving the region’s business community.

To cap the event, Sewald recognized three individuals whose outstanding contributions helped advance the Chamber’s mission in 2025:

TRUSTEE OF THE YEAR: CHRIS WILCOX

Partner and Las Vegas Market Leader EIDE BAILLY

PARTNER OF THE YEAR: TOM DADON

TRIPLE 7 MOVERS

AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR:

The Vegas Chamber looks ahead to 2026 with renewed momentum, committed to fostering innovation, opportunity, and business success throughout Nevada.

SHANE HAMLETT

In 2023, Shane Hamlett joined the Vegas Chamber through its on-the-job training (OJT) program with a strong work ethic and a clear commitment to professional growth. While he brought prior experience and accountability to the role, OJT provided hands-on exposure that allowed him to better understand Chamber operations and deepen his skill set.

Through structured training and mentorship, Hamlett strengthened his approach to member service, collaboration, and problem-solving. The program reinforced the value of adaptability and continuous learning, helping him turn experience into consistent results. He quickly earned a reputation for reliability and a positive attitude. From supporting

events and members to improving internal workflows, his contributions steadily expanded. Over the next two years, his growth was impossible to miss. He strengthened internal processes, built strong member relationships, and became a trusted problem solver. Colleagues relied on him. Leaders respected his judgment. New employees looked to him as a model of professionalism.

In 2025, Hamlett was named the Vegas Chamber’s Employee of the Year, recognizing not only his accomplishments, but how OJT helped him grow and how it can do the same for others. His journey is a testament to the impact of preparation, resilience, and saying yes to opportunity. Congratulations, Shane—your success continues to inspire.

DEADLINE FOR BUSINESSES, HOA’S TO IS APPROACHING REPLACE DECORATIVE

Holiday festivities and a new year are approaching, and so is the deadline for commercial properties to upgrade their decorative, nonfunctional grass to droughtfriendly landscaping.

A Nevada law passed in 2021 prohibits the use of Colorado River water to irrigate decorative grass at businesses, HOAs, and multi-family properties beginning Jan. 1, 2027.

Property managers are encouraged to plan now to convert decorative grass areas to dripirrigated landscaping, which uses up to 75 percent less water. As part of the planning process, property managers should contact the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA).

SNWA is the authorized agency that identifies what areas of a property are impacted by the nonfunctional grass law, which applies to all decorative grass found in businesses, office parks, strip malls, retail centers, HOA common areas, and apartments and condominiums (singlefamily homes are exempt).

SNWA conservation experts will provide property maps classifying the grass to

help businesses and HOAs plan landscape projects to ensure compliance with the nonfunctional grass law. They also will share information about SNWA rebates and programs that help properties save water and money.

Properties across the valley have already taken steps toward compliance with the law. Quail Park One on Rancho Drive has replaced more than 24,000 square feet of grass through the SNWA Water Smart Landscapes (WSL) rebate program. The conversion project will save 1.3 million gallons of water annually.

The WSL program offers eligible commercial properties a cash rebate for grass replaced with drip-irrigated trees and plants (some restrictions apply). Visit snwa.com for details about the rebate and to find more information about the Nevada nonfunctional turf law.

NEW STATE SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION

TO CIVIC CENTER HEADQUARTERS

The Vegas Chamber recently hosted a special gathering at its new home in the Downtown Las Vegas Civic Center, where President and CEO Mary Beth Sewald welcomed members, partners, and education leaders to the organization’s state-of-theart headquarters.

“We’re thrilled to open our doors and convene leaders who are shaping Nevada’s future,” Sewald said. “This new home is where collaboration, innovation, and opportunity come together.”

Co-hosted by Tamara Shear, CEO of Opportunity 180, and Sean Parker, founder and CEO of the Center for the Future of Learning, the event brought together cross-sector leaders focused on student achievement, workforce development, and long-term economic prosperity for Southern Nevada.

The Chamber was honored to welcome Dr. Victor Wakefield, Ed.D., Nevada’s new State Superintendent of Public Instruction, who shared remarks about the importance of aligning education with the needs of employers. His commitment to strengthening Nevada’s talent pipeline and supporting equitable access to highquality education is essential to preparing students for the jobs of tomorrow.

With the Vegas Chamber’s new location at Civic Center placing the business community at the heart of local government and civic life, this event exemplified the kind of meaningful partnerships that drive innovation and progress. The Chamber is proud to support initiatives that expand educational opportunity, enhance workforce readiness, and build a stronger, more connected Nevada.

NEW YEAR, NEW GROWTH - START 2026 STRONG WITH THE VEGAS CHAMBER

SMALL BUSINESS RESOURCE CENTER

The Small Business Resource Center located at the Vegas Chamber is your home base for expert guidance, practical tools, and meaningful connections that help your business grow.

We are proud to partner with the Nevada Small Business Development Center to provide free, confidential one-on-one advising here at the Vegas Chamber on everything from business plans and marketing strategies to financial management and scaling. Whether you’re just starting out or preparing to scale, SBDC advising helps turn ideas into action. These appointments are flexible and tailored to your business goals, whether you’re just starting out or preparing to take your business to the next level.

In addition, members can take advantage of mentoring sessions with SCORE mentors, experienced entrepreneurs who volunteer their time to help small

business owners navigate challenges and uncover new opportunities. Together, the SBDC and SCORE experts empower local businesses with the wisdom and mentoring needed for long-term success.

The Vegas Chamber is proud to welcome Nevada State Bank as the inaugural sponsor of the Small Business Resource Center, a partnership that underscores our shared commitment to empowering small businesses as the backbone of Nevada’s economy. Through this collaboration, members will gain access to exclusive financial education sessions and business banking insights throughout the year.

As you set your goals for 2026, consider taking these first steps toward sustainable growth:

• Schedule your SBDC advising session. Set a roadmap for your year with concrete goals and strategies.

• Meet with a SCORE mentor. Gain perspective from seasoned business leaders who’ve been where you are.

• Join an upcoming workshop. Learn, network, and strengthen your business toolkit with programs curated by the SBRC.

• Reconnect with your “why.” Reflect on what inspired your business journey, and let that purpose guide your growth.

Here’s to a year of clarity, growth, and new opportunities, and to building it together through the Vegas Chamber’s Small Business Resource Center.

In a city known for reinvention, few embody the spirit of transformation quite like Ericka Aviles. This fall marks a major milestone for her firm, Ericka Aviles Consulting (EAC), as it celebrates 10 years of bridging cultural divides, amplifying community voices, and redefining what authentic outreach looks like in Nevada.

With over two decades of experience spanning both public and private sectors including leadership roles at the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority and MGM Resorts International, Aviles brings a rare blend of strategic insight and grassroots empathy. Her influence extends far beyond the boardroom: she’s a member of the Executive Women’s Council, the International Women’s Forum Nevada Chapter, the Poderistas Council, and the Discovery Children’s Museum Advisory Board.

Aviles’ most enduring legacy may be Latinas in Power, the statewide professional network she founded to connect and elevate nearly 1,000 Latina leaders. “Lifting as we climb” isn’t just a motto, it’s the guiding principle behind everything she does.

From Immigrant Roots to Entrepreneurial Heights

Born in El Salvador, Ericka Aviles immigrated to the U.S. at age six, arriving in Las Vegas without speaking English. She became the first in her family to graduate high school, earn a college degree, and launch a business. That journey fuels her mission: to create opportunity and awareness for the underserved.

HAS YOUR BUSINESS COMPLIED WITH THE NEW RETIREMENT PLAN MANDATE

New Nevada Retirement plan mandate has been implemented. Has your business complied?

SB 305, which was passed in the 2023 legislative session, became effective July 1, 2025. It requires most employers to provide a retirement savings plan for their employees. This may include enrolling them in the state-sponsored Nevada Employee Savings Trust, or a chamber of commerce 401K plan which is available through the Vegas Chamber

EXEMPTIONS:

• Employers with an existing retirement program are exempt.

• Employers with less than six employees are exempt.

• Employers in business for less than 36 months are exempt.

A 401K plan may be preferrable over the State Plan for many businesses, because of the following advantages: tax credits of up to $5,000, higher contribution limits, actively managed investment options, pre-tax contributions, loan options, and

employer contributions.

The Vegas Chamber offers members a pre-negotiated retirement plan that satisfies the SB 305 401K mandate. There is currently no start-up cost and only $100 per quarter to the employer and $4 per month per employee with a balance. There are other low fees to consider. For more information, visit vegaschamber.com/401K or call the Caldera Wealth team at (702) 616-2000.

The Chamber will be keeping members informed as more details regarding this mandate become available.

No more than 100 employees received compensation of $5,000 or more in the preceding year, and the employer didn’t offer a plan covering substantially the same employees during the previous three tax years.

Securities and advisory services are offered through LPL Financial, a Registered Investment Advisor, FINRA/SIPC.

A REAL SUCCESS STORY

In 2025, a facility manager in Southern Nevada decided it was time to move into the 21st century and retrofit their exterior lighting system to something brighter.

After dark, these lights o ered a weak phosphorescent glow that made many employees (along with customers and visitors) feel unsafe.

The ironic feature about these older exterior lighting systems is that despite being less bright, they also cost more to run.

There were challenges: like money, time, contractors and the basic concern of where to start.

This is why, early on, it’s good to contact PowerShift by NV Energy’s Business Energy Services (BES).

An energy advisor plays a vital role in helping business customers navigate the Business Energy Services incentive program.

Energy advisors identify eligible energy-saving opportunities tailored to the customer’s facility, usage patterns and the age of the equipment.

They guide customers through the application process, help determine which upgrades qualify for incentives, and even assist with paperwork and contractor coordination.

This personalized support ensures that businesses can confidently pursue projects that reduce energy costs, improve comfort and contribute to the state’s e ciency goals.

Project Nightlight shows how a large facility in Nevada made its team and visitors feel safer, got the money back on its investment quickly, and added value to its property.

However, upgrades and retrofits at large facilities are far from the only types of projects that qualify for energy incentives.

In many cases, the ROI can be 3 years or less.

From installing new equipment at small businesses to custom projects for large industrial facilities, we’re here with the guidance, the relationships and the incentives to make all businesses in Nevada energy e cient.

LAS VEGAS CONVENTION CENTER COMPLETES $600 MILLION RENOVATION

Contributed by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority

In January, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) marked a major milestone for our city – the completion of the $600 million renovation of the Las Vegas Convention Center’s (LVCC) legacy campus. The reimagined facility delivers a world-class convention experience that reflects the scale, ambition, and evolution of Las Vegas.

Tourism leaders, local public officials, and construction partners commemorated the event with a ribbon cutting ceremony held in partnership with Consumer Technology Association (CTA). Owned and produced by CTA, CES 2026 was the first trade show to be held in the fully renovated space.

The transformation of the 4.6 million-square-foot convention center launched in 2023 to match the customer experience, technology, and modern design introduced with the $1 billion West Hall in 2021. The LVCC remained operational throughout the renovation, with construction work designed to minimize disruption to trade shows in the building. Key design highlights of the reimagined campus include:

• A modernized Central Hall Grand Lobby features a glass curtain wall and an abundance of natural light.

• A 75-foot-by-42-foot digital screen, roughly the size of a professional basketball court, and two complementary screens anchor the space and provide unique branding opportunities for organizers and exhibitors.

• A climate-controlled interior concourse connecting the North and South Halls allows attendees to move throughout the entire facility without exiting the building.

• A redesigned South Hall features a new entrance on the East side of the building and a state-of-the-art boardroom.

• The extension of the West Hall’s signature ribbon roof creates architectural cohesion across the entire campus.

The transformation comes as Las Vegas prepares to host a remarkable lineup of meetings and conventions in 2026. The reimagined LVCC is on pace to welcome upwards of 48 trade shows and 1.23 million attendees. With a full calendar of large trade shows throughout the city, Las Vegas could reach a record level of postpandemic convention attendance.

Meetings and conventions are essential to Las Vegas’ tourism infrastructure, helping fill the city’s 150,000 hotel rooms Sunday through Thursday. In 2025, Las Vegas welcomed 6 million convention attendees, and the convention segment generally supports approximately $16 billion in economic impact annually.

The benefits of meetings and conventions extend far beyond the Las Vegas Strip. They spread throughout our community in the form of job creation and small business opportunities – from suppliers and vendors to taxicab and rideshare drivers. The convention sector also supports more than 70,000 jobs in our community, contributing nearly $4 billion in wages.

The completion of the LVCC renovation underscores a commitment to meetings and events in Southern Nevada, delivering an elevated convention center experience that is synonymous with Las Vegas. The LVCVA is grateful for the public and private partnerships that brought the project to fruition, and thanks its construction partners, AECOM Hunt – Penta, Miller & Ham Project Development, and Klai Juba Wald, along with the leadership and long-term investment of the LVCC Oversight Panel, the Clark County Commission, and the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee.

Our employees, industry partners, hospitality workforce, and small business owners bring these investments to life, delivering unmatched experiences and worldclass customer service that ensure Las Vegas remains a multifaceted business travel destination.
