AXIS REVOLUTIONIZES THE SPORTS BEVERAGE MARKET with CBD-Infused Hemp Drinks >>>

AXIS introduces a game-changing solution to the problems associated with traditional sports drinks. By harnessing the power of hemp extract and cutting-edge technology, AXIS offers a range of CBD-infused sports drinks that provide hydration, stress relief, enhanced recovery, and overall wellness for athletes, college students, and geriatric individuals. With their commitment to all-natural ingredients, zero sugar, and zero calories, AXIS is poised to disrupt the market and redefine the way we approach hydration and wellness.

AXIS was created out of necessity for founder Ja-Nice Johnson's mother, Reneè, who was battling cancer and suffering from side effects of her medical treatments. Ms. Johnson was skeptical about CBD and strongly opposed using opioids or other narcotics that could negatively interact with her current medications. In response to assurances from her medical and nutritional support group, Ms. Johnson agreed to try CBD-based therapy. Starting small with CBD honey sticks and tinctures, the Johnsons quickly noticed a significant improvement in Reneè's health. Seeing these positive effects, Ja-Nice developed AXIS, a water-based beverage that worked best. Ms. Johnson has since passed, but the product created to improve her health now serves to keep her memory alive by improving the lives of others.

The Problem with Traditional Sports Drinks

Sports drinks have long been marketed as essential for hydration during physical activity. However, experts have highlighted that their consumption should be limited to athletes engaged in extended periods of intense exercise lasting over

an hour. For non-athletes, these beverages become nothing more than sugary drinks, leading to excessive calorie and sugar intake, obesity, and tooth enamel erosion. Recognizing this issue, AXIS aims to provide a healthier alternative to traditional sports drinks.

Introducing AXIS: The Future of Hydration

AXIS believes that hydration is the key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. With this vision in mind, AXIS has developed a line of hemp-infused sports drinks that promote hydration, alleviate stress, and aid in recovery. Each 12-ounce AXIS beverage is crafted with all-natural ingredients, essential vitamins, minerals, and 30mg of hemp extract. The drinks are gluten-free, veganfriendly, non-GMO, and contain no preservatives, alcohol, or THC.

Cutting-Edge Technology for Optimal Hydration

AXIS has partnered with Vessl, a leading provider of innovative beverage closure technology, to create a unique and convenient experience for consumers. The patented Vessl cap technology allows for instant pressurized mixing of functional ingredients directly into the water. By purging oxygen and preserving the active content under pressure with nitrogen, AXIS beverages maintain their quality and eliminate the need for artificial preservatives. With a simple twist of the cap, consumers can infuse 30mg of CBD into electrolyte-enhanced water effortlessly.

The AXIS Product Line: Health and Wellness in Every Sip

AXIS currently offers three invigorating flavors that cater to different consumer needs and preferences: Mango Revive, Strawberry Mood Boost, and Tropical

12 Nevada's Original Cannabis Resource // Since 2014

Berry Bliss. These carefully formulated drinks not only provide hydration but also offer unique benefits.

Mango Revive: This all-natural blend restores electrolytes and aids recovery for individuals from all walks of life. With the added benefits of 30 mg hemp extract, Mango Revive helps alleviate stress and rejuvenate the mind & body.

Strawberry Mood Boost: Designed to provide a quick energy boost and enhanced focus, Strawberry Mood Boost combines a proprietary energy blend, B vitamins, and 30mg of hemp extract. This refreshing drink promotes a balanced mental and physical state, while vitamin B12 supports mood regulation.

Tropical Berry Bliss: Indulge and unwind with the delightful flavors of Tropical Berry Bliss. This berry-infused sports drink is specifically crafted to improve sleep quality and promote relaxation. The unique blend of theanine, lavender extract, chamomile, and 30mg of hemp extract calms the mind and body without causing sedation.

Target Markets: Athletes, College Students, and Geriatrics

AXIS has identified three primary target markets that stand to benefit greatly from their innovative hemp-infused sports drinks.

Athletes and Fitness Enthusiasts: With a focus on hydration and enhanced recovery, AXIS caters to individuals engaged in intense physical activities. Athletes & fitness enthusiasts can optimize their performance and replenish their electrolytes with AXIS beverages.

College Students: The demanding lifestyles of college students often require quick and convenient energy sources. AXIS offers a healthier alternative to sugary drinks, providing a boost in energy, increased focus, and stress relief for this target market.

Geriatrics with Chronic Diseases: The growing trend of embracing natural organic products among older adults makes the geriatric segment an ideal target market for AXIS. By addressing chronic pain, inflammation, and sleep issues, AXIS offers a therapeutic solution for those seeking alternatives to pharmaceuticals.

AXIS' Market Positioning and Distribution Strategy

AXIS intends to position itself as a leader in the sports beverage marketplace by emphasizing its hemp-infused sports drinks that contain essential vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes. With zero

sugar, zero calories, and a commitment to all-natural ingredients, AXIS appeals to a wide range of health-conscious consumers, including convalescents, diabetics, vegetarians, and mainstream market members.

To establish a strong presence in the market, AXIS will utilize every appropriate distribution channel. By leveraging their existing relationships with major retailers, gyms, health food stores, and sports clubs, AXIS will ensure that their product line is readily available and easily accessible to consumers. Moreover, AXIS will employ targeted marketing strategies through TV, social media, radio, and newspapers to raise awareness and drive demand for their unique offerings.

The Future of Hydration Starts with AXIS

As the CBD/hemp market continues to grow globally, AXIS is at the forefront of providing innovative and relevant products that address the needs of athletes, college students, and geriatrics. With their hemp-infused sports drinks, cutting-edge technology, and commitment to quality and wellness, AXIS is set to revolutionize the sports beverage industry. Say goodbye to sugary drinks and welcome a healthier, more refreshing way to hydrate and thrive with AXIS.

Combining Cannabis with AI and Trading NUG MONSTERS >>>

As the American cannabis industry becomes significantly more legalized and legitimized, the need for clever and unique marketing strategies will become more necessary. Although the cannabis industry is still in its infancy when compared to other billion-dollar industries, there’s still ample opportunities for cannabis brands to advertise their products. There are numerous largescale conventions for the cannabis industry happening yearly and cannabis brands throughout America have pop-ups at dispensaries and cannabis-related events. All these events are great opportunities for in-person marketing and exposure for the brand. And yet, those same brands are at a significant disadvantage with utilizing more current advertising avenues as well.

Cannabis brands have very little luck with advertising on digital platforms such as Facebook and YouTube. With punishments ranging from posts being involuntarily deleted to entire established accounts with thousands of subscribers being banned, advertising on social media and digital platforms can be incredibly troublesome. However with the sudden advent and widespread usage of artificial intelligence programs and interfaces, some cannabis brands are starting to create very clever marketing strategies with these new technologies.

One such brand that has recently created a memorable marketing campaign is the cannabis brand State Flower. It’s a brand that’s gotten quite a decent amount of recognition in Las Vegas and can be found in dispensaries throughout the Valley. With the brand’s most recent marketing campaign however, they’re certain to grab the attention of cannabis consumers by utilizing the rapidly advancing AI systems that produce animated images and graphics along with invoking the nostalgia for trading cards and cartoon characters that many 90’s kids grew up on.

Being a child of the 80’s and 90’s, State Flower Nevada’s Marketing and Brand Director Nick Wells is a huge fan of the animation classics of that era such as the many classics of Nickelodeon, mainly the Ren & Stimpy Show and Rocko's Modern Life. Another pop culture phenomenon of that era that Wells is an ardent fan of is the classic slashers of cinema; Jason Vorhees, Freddy Kruger and Michael Myers. Having served over eight years in the cannabis industry and being a graphic designer and photographer himself, Wells was likely looking for a way to include those artistic inspirations along with other elements of 80’s-90’s nostalgia into a riveting cannabis marketing strategy.

“When AI first came out, I was a little resistant to it.” Wells shared the concerns about AI’s abilities that many creatives have regarding those systems replacing artists. “The more I saw the capabilities, the more I got intrigued.”

Through finding a useful AI image generator, Wells began to create images of cannabis nugs that looked cartoonishly sinister in the exact way that many animated characters of the 80’s and 90’s appeared.

“That was the idea with Nug Monsters. Take the cannabis we’re known for and turn it into a little monster.”

Wells picked the highest of high holidays, 4/20, to premiere these very unique characters that are very inspired by the cartoons and animation that Wells and his fellow 80’s and 90’s kids were raised on. While quite grotesque upon first appearance, the Nug Monsters have a gremlin-like way of warming your heart and serve as an unconventional yet unforgettable way to remember State Flower’s brand and products.

18 Nevada's Original Cannabis Resource // Since 2014

“We ran a 4/20 campaign on our Instagram, and I had posted a handful of those images I created to the State Flower account. And it ended up becoming our most engaging and most liked Instagram post that we’ve ever had. It was eye-opening for me so I took the idea and perfected it.” Wells recollected.

After adjusting the characters slightly through Photoshop and similar programs, the hilariously creepy characters in their final form were introduced to even further success. Despite resembling characters from “Aaahh!!! Real Monsters” instead of Sesame Street, they have a very Gritty-like way of internally growing on you even if they have a ghastly appearance at first.

“Once people saw them and I saw their recreations, I thought that we should do something with these characters.”

From the success and considerable amount of engagement that the little critters received, Wells decided to transform the characters from just a picture into a fully fledged trading card series. Originally thinking about featuring State Flower strains, Wells decided instead to feature this motley crue of characters that they’ve now introduced into cannabis culture.

“What if we made monsters that represented the individual strains we had? I started thinking about nostalgia and my generation’s nostalgia for things like Pokemon is at an all time high. So instead of doing a baseball card, let’s do a Pokemon-like card. I pitched the idea to the team and they loved it. And if we were having cards where you collect them, then we’re going to implement a prize with it. If you collect all five, then you get a free ounce.”

By utilizing these characters and cards at pop ups throughout dispensaries in Vegas, customers would receive a Nug Monsters trading card if they made a purchase of State Flower. Especially to those who are collectors of any kind at heart, this unique incentive certainly brought customers returning to stores that sell their brand’s products.

“We had multiple people coming in and tracking us down or trying to find us just to collect these cards. We also had the dispensary staff really engaged. It was also a successful campaign for them and I think the staff were more excited than the customers.” Wells joked.

Not surprising, the feedback of the Nug Monsters campaign has been overwhelmingly positive. Wells says that other cannabis brands’ marketing teams have complimented the sheer creativity and invocation of nostalgia behind the campaign. From a sales standpoint, the campaign centered around cannabis-themed creatures has helped tremendously.

“I think a lot of us as marketing professionals and creators were a little bit resistant because it’s a scary time. AI is evolving rapidly and finding out new things every day. But the way that I look at this is that if we use it as a tool, it can be very helpful for us and create a lot of opportunities that weren’t there before. I think it’s inevitable that AI is going to be a big part of the marketing future and I think it’s just how we adapt to it and use it to our advantage.”

CANNABINOID SPOTLIGHT CBD (Cannabidiol)

The wellness industry has been revolutionized by CBD, with an estimated 1 in 7 adults in the United States having experimented with CBD products to enhance their health and well-being. And it's no surprise considering the extensive range of benefits that CBD can provide. As the industry continues to grow rapidly, there is an abundance of products to choose from, with many claiming to be the "best on the market." However, as consumers, the numerous options can be overwhelming, making it difficult to determine which products can help us achieve our desired goals. To help you make an informed decision during your next CBD shopping experience and find the product that’s right for you, let's explore the array of products and methods of administration available.

To begin, when buying CBD there may be a wide range of products to choose from, but there are only four routes of administration available. These are inhalation, suppositories, topical, and oral administration. The absorbance of cannabinoids in the body can be influenced from a variety of factors including drug lipophilicity, bioavailability, and tissue differences which are all influenced by the route of administration used. Here are some key points you should know about each before buying CBD.

Inhalation

Smokable CBD products are ideal for those who want to feel the effects almost immediately. For example, patients who need relief from breakthrough symptoms or to relax one’s mind after a stressful day. When inhaling CBD, one should feel the effects within 5-10 minutes, with the effects lasting 2 to 4 hours on average.

Topical

Topical products, such as patches and lotions, are a great way to target a specific area of the body that needs the relief that CBD can offer. When using a topical, one should feel the effects 20 to 30 minutes after applying the product.

Oral

When taking CBD orally by way of tinctures or edibles, one can achieve longer lasting

effects when compared to other routes of administration. Orally ingested CBD can take 60 to 180 minutes to take effect. However, the effects can last 6 to 8 hours depending on the individual. They are ideal for those who benefit from a continuation of CBD in the body, such as chronic pain patients, and are a great way to use CBD daily to benefit overall health and wellness.

Suppositories

CBD suppositories are not as popular as the other methods of administration but should definitely not be overlooked. They can be taken vaginally or anally and are a great way to soothe ailments of all kinds and specifically target pain and inflammation in the lower portion of the body, such as back pain, hip pain, and menstrual cramps. CBD suppositories have a rapid onset of effects being felt in only 5 to 10 minutes, like inhalation, though they can last 4 to 8 hours on average.

While some individuals may need all routes of administration throughout the day, some may only need one to achieve their desired effects with CBD. Once you decide what route may be best for you, or if you want to try them all, you then must decide what CBD product formulation you prefer. There are three that you will see on the market - products made with either full spectrum, broad spectrum, or isolate. While all have the benefits of CBD there are some differences to consider.

Full Spectrum CBD

When a CBD product is labeled full spectrum, it means the product contains all the naturally occurring cannabinoids within the hemp plant, including 0.3% or less of Delta 9 THC. It also has flavonoids and terpenes present from the hemp plant. Full spectrum products are often boasted about because of the entourage effect. This is a phenomenon where compounds taken together work synergistically to boost the effects of their individual parts. However, it is important to note that if you use other hemp or cannabis products, that also can enact the entourage effect and is not only felt with full spectrum products like some claim. Full spectrum CBD is great for those seeking a whole plant formula who can ingest THC.

Broad Spectrum CBD

Broad spectrum CBD is almost identical to full spectrum CBD extracts, though there is no THC. This makes it ideal for those who want a full plant hemp formula but cannot partake in THC.

CBD Isolate

Isolate has gotten a bad reputation over the years as a subpar product, but it is far from that. CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD available on the market, typically with 98% or higher purity. Though there are no other cannabinoids present, unless introduced separately during the product formulation process, CBD isolate offers consumers the many benefits of CBD in a high-purity form. CBD isolates are a great way to specifically gain the benefits CBD offers and if using other cannabinoid products, you can still experience the entourage effect, boosting the effects of CBD even more.

Once you know the CBD product you would like to try, there is one more step that is crucial when buying CBD and that is verifying the products COA or certificate of analysis, as well as the company’s third-party lab testing. These documents verify that the product you are getting is free from harmful contaminants and has the desired amount of CBD you are seeking. CBD is a product that can have a great impact on your health and wellness if it is of quality. As consumers we must ensure that we are purchasing from reputable companies that have transparent documentation that verifies the quality of their products.

Incorporating CBD into your health and wellness routine can be valuable in many ways. Its extensive array of benefits makes it difficult to find an area where CBD cannot provide assistance. When purchasing CBD products, it's important to consider your specific goals, determine the most suitable route of administration, and select an ideal formulation for your needs. Additionally, always verify the quality of the product you choose. By keeping these factors in mind, you'll be able to discover the perfect CBD product to help you achieve your desired goals. And remember, when trying CBD there is nothing to lose, yet so much to potentially gain.

Ask the Leaf Nurse! Cannabis, Dementia and Alzheimer’s

The interest in senile disease is rising because aging society has become a common phenomenon. We all know a friend or a loved one that suffers from one of these debilitating conditions. Types of dementia include Alzheimer’s Dementia (AD) vascular dementia, paralytic dementia, Lewy body dementia, carbon monoxide induced dementia, and trauma dementia. The onset of AD has continued to increase since 1995, while the prevalence of vascular dementia is gradually decreasing.

AD is a disease that is caused by the gradual degeneration and death of cerebral cortical cells. The main symptoms are memory loss, cognitive decline and behavioral disorders. Overall brain atrophy, senile plaques, and neurofibromatosis (NFT) are the common characteristics of AD.

Acquired cognitive deficits caused by AD have a significant impact on the social life and activity of the patients. Moreover, active treatment of memory disorders greatly affects the prognosis of AD patients. Consequently, many researchers acknowledge the need for a therapeutic drug to restore the memory and cognitive damages of AD patients, and various studies have been conducted. It is so hard to watch our loved ones go through this, and often we feel frustrated, helpless and even hopeless. Have you considered the therapeutic effects that cannabis has with these disease processes?

Cannabis and their cannabinoids have been shown to have neuroprotective properties, reduce neuroinflammation, and enhance neurogenesis (the development of neurons).

Evidence suggests that the use of cannabis containing both tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) or CBD alone have been effective and safe for use in older people with agitation associated with dementia. A review in 2017 summarized positive findings for therapeutic benefits of cannabinoids in agitation of AD and dementia.

Cannabinoids were shown to be well tolerated, with few short-term side effects. This differs from first-line medications utilized for dementia behaviors, which can have unwanted side effects. Further research regarding the safety, efficacy, and

variability of these products in older people is needed.

These results implied that the CBD components of cannabis might be useful to treat and prevent AD because CBD components could suppress the main causal factors of AD. Moreover, it was suggested that using CBD and THC together could be more useful than using CBD or THC alone. The number of patients with dementia has been increasing gradually and it is predicted that it will reach 81.1 million in 2040.

However, we do not have a solid treatment to cure dementia and the current standard medications mainly focus only on delaying dementia and recovering symptoms. We hope that there will be a solid foundation to use cannabis for medical use by continuously evaluating the possibility of using cannabis for clinical purposes as a dementia treatment substance and cannabis can be used as a positive tool.

In summary, CBD+THC treatment was effective in memory and CBD+THC treatment was more effective than CBD alone or THC alone treatment. These results implied that the CBD components of cannabis might be useful to treat and prevent AD because CBD components could suppress the main causal factors of AD. Moreover, it was suggested that using CBD and THC together could be more useful than using CBD or THC alone. If you want to learn more about cannabis and the positive effects on patients with AD or Dementia, call me!

TRAVELING WHILE INFLATED >>>

Navigate Inflation with These 5 Travel on a Budget Tips

there are no added fees to board a flight with one of these. Many of us pack way more than we need and end up paying more for no reason at all.

If the thought of packing less scares you, consider shipping some things you need using a large flat rate box from the post office. The rate to ship is cheaper than paying to check or carry on a suitcase.

If you’re nervous about “trespassing” don’t be. Many oceanfront hotels have restaurants, coffee shops, and bars on site that are open to the public. Guest amenities are not open to the public.

Life is so inflated! Everything down to dirt for a garden has risen drastically. Whatever small breaks were handed to society during the pandemic were certainly on loan and today, we are paying it back with interest.

For many, a getaway seems impossible; the costs of flights, hotels, car rentals, and food give many people pause. As a Traveling Writer, pre, during, and post pandemic, I’ve used all types of tricks to get the most out of my travel budget. Below I share 5 travel on a budget tips to help you navigate inflation.

When to book the method of travel: Covid gave us the luxury of booking next day travel at an affordable price but we are back to needing to book and purchase 30 days or more in advance for the affordable prices again.

If travel is flexible, consider accepting the airline offers “$500.00 to 2 passengers willing to take a different flight”.

What to pack; avoid baggage fees: These days nothing is included, not even a carry-on. Consider being a backpack traveler; a backpack is considered a personal item, like a purse, and

What and where to book the stay/lodging accommodation: Usually the easiest way to navigate is from the center of the city/downtown, but it’s not the most affordable. Typically, airport locations are affordable but many times, there is nothing in or around those areas for things to eat, see, and explore. Third party booking sites can offer better rates than booking with the hotel directly, but the rooms assigned to third party bookings are on the low end of quality. For instance, in a hotel that offers kitchenettes, third party booked rooms don’t come with the full set of kitchen supplies for cooking, you will have to ask the front desk to supply them.

If travel is flexible, consider weekday travel and bookings. Hotels/airbnb’s are priced better during the week. Weekend travel still reigns supreme for much of society, so naturally, prices are higher.

Wanting luxury but can’t afford it; consider booking the affordable solution: Using an oceanfront city like Miami, most if not all oceanfront accommodations will be anything but affordable. The solution: book affordable lodging but head over to the ocean front hotels to have breakfast, and/or lunch, and/or dinner; and if you like, hang out at the bar. You don’t have to book at these hotels to experience some of their luxury offerings.

Ways to stretch the spending budget: Food is the most expensive part of the budget. Most people eat 3 meals a day and with inflation, that is an easy $75 a day. Getting around using rideshare services can be costly too depending on the location and time of day. If traveling with a buddy and/or in a group, consider sharing appetizers, entrees, desserts, and cocktails/mocktails. Most of us have leftovers that can’t be taken back to the hotel/ bnb because there isn’t a refrigerator or way to warm the food back up; save instead of waste.

If your travel buddy/group is ordering the same meal you are, you should share, especially if you all know you will leave food to be thrown away from separate plates. Many don’t have a high enough tolerance for alcohol and leave half of their cocktail to be thrown away. Sharing is a sure way to extend the travel budget.

DECODING THE CBD MAZE >>> Tips to Help You Find Your Ideal Product

High Heads Puff Punch

The Source recently released High Heads Puff Punch, a new line of cannabis infused drinks through its High Heads brand. Coming in four unique flavors, Apple Sauced, Orange Whip, Triple Berry and Mango Madness, the 2 oz. cans contain 100mg of THC. Puff Punch launched in mid-June and is now available at The Source’s five Nevada locations and other dispensaries statewide.

Living up to its name, High Heads Puff Punch is fast acting, flavorful and, with THC levels testing up to 98%, it’s sure to pack a punch. Crafted with premium ingredients and infused with an all-natural syrup created by the Las Vegas based company Dress the Drink, Puff Punch features a fruit forward flavor, leaving that earthy, weedy taste so common in other infused drinks behind.

Best enjoyed chilled, the four flavors of High Head Puff Punch are:

• Apple Sauced: contains the flavors of lightly spiced apple sauce.

• Orange Whip: a drink with notes of orange and fresh vanilla bean.

• Trippy Berry: a combination of the flavor of blackberry, blueberry, and rasberry.

• Mango Madness: a pineapple-based flavor with added notes of mango and passionfruit.

All of these Puff Punch flavors are delicious by themselves or, for an ultra-swanky treat, try mixing up one of these delicious cocktails:

Puff's Berry Citrus Fizz

Puff wants to help you get on his level, and you can start by trying Puff’s Berry Citrus Fizz

cocktail. This fruity favorite can be made by muddling four fresh mint leaves in a shaker before adding four ounces of lemonade, two and a half ounces lemon-lime soda, and two caps of Trippy Berry Puff Punch, which provides a flavorful blast of blackberry, blueberry, and raspberry. Add some ice and shake. Enjoy your trip!

Puff's Black Tea Tango

Enthusiasts who are feeling the heat under the summer sun will love the refreshing Puff’s Black Tea Tango. The tasty drink is made mixing two ounces of unsweetened black tea and two caps of Orange Whip Puff Punch with ice in a glass, stirring until chilled. Top it off with six ounces of ginger ale and an orange slice, forming a delectable concoction sure to have you soaring, courtesy of Puff.

Puff's Tropical Nectar

Puff’s Tropical Nectar will instantly transport

you from the desert to a tropical beach. This cocktail is made by combining four ounces of mango nectar and two caps of Mango Madness Puff Punch in a glass. Add ice to the glass and stir, before topping it off with two ounces of pineapple soda and garnishing with a pineapple slice.

Created by classically trained chefs from the Las Vegas area, High Head's goal is to create a powerful, flavorful, quality product sourced from the best cannabis around. The brand procures quality flower, crafts exceptional edibles and creates delicious vapes all for an affordable price. High Heads goes to extreme lengths and takes great care to grow happy, healthy, heady nugs, in order to come up with the best new flavors and formulas. Budtender of the Month Las Vegas

Kristina has been a part of the cannabis industry for quite some time. Her positive attitude and infectious energy made her a perfect fit for budtending. With cannabis lounges coming along, she has begun to dabble in dabtending where she is able to literally get her guests medicated and give them a one of a kind experience. You can catch Kristina doing her thing at Nuwu.

What motivated you to join the cannabis industry? Helping others as a medical patient myself.

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned as a budtender? I have learned about cannabinoids and the different terpene combustion rates.

What are three characteristics/attributes a budtender must have to be successful?

Passion, enthusiasm, and the ability to listen.

What are some of the similarities and differences between a budtender and a dabtender?

The similarities are, getting people medicated. Also, creating an unforgettable one-on-one experience. The differences are that my interactions are much shorter, I serve small increments of pre-selected extracts, and I don’t really consult.

In your opinion, what benefits will cannabis lounges bring to the industry?

Reform! This is unchartered territory in Nevada. We're very excited to give the cannabis community a quality, therapeutic space to consume and socialize. We welcome healthy competition, so long as we maintain the same positive goal in mind.

What’s your favorite topic to educate customers on? Terpenes and cannabinoids.

How do you stay educated and up to date on products and industry news?

As an OG, most of my circle and social media are filled with friends in the industry. You can catch me networking at all the events! I have subscribed to Vegas Cannabis Magazine since the beginning too!

Has your smoking habits changed since joining the industry? Are you more selective of what you smoke?

My smoking has increased for sure. I am quite the Sommelier.

What’s your favorite way to consume? Dabbing and vaporizing.

Do you have any favorite cultivators or brands? Currently, Matrix, GLP, The Growers Circle, Tsunami, Stiiizy, Medizin, and Wyld are my favorites.

What you been smoking on?

Apple Smack sugar by Matrix and Head Cheese flower by Polaris.

BUDTENDER at NUWU

Budtender of the Month Las Vegas

Michael Livingston

Budtender at Silver Sage wellness

Michael is a five year veteran in the cannabis industry. His experience and his willingness to continue to learn is what makes him special. Along with being a talented budtender, he's also a talented music artist that has performed at numerous cannabis events. You can catch him budtending at Silver Sage Wellness.

What made you want to join the cannabis industry and what was your first industry job?

I had moved out to Vegas from California in 2018 & since I was new in the industry prior to moving I wanted to give it a shot out here. The first industry job I had was a budtender position at Planet 13 around the time they first opened.

What’s the most satisfying part of budtending?

I would say the most satisfying part is being able to use the position to connect to people from all walks of life.

What kind of challenges have you faced that you didn’t expect when you first joined the cannabis industry?

It’s not necessarily a challenge but I can definitely say I wasn’t expecting to see the large amount of people that consistently use cannabis for reasons other than their own pleasure. So when I first got in the industry it really made me fine tune my knowledge/history of the plant.

What’s your favorite topic to educate patients on?

My favorite topic to educate patients on is to not be so set on THC. A lot of people assume, especially with the legalization of the plant among more states, that high THC is what they should be looking for. I try to inform on all aspects of the plant (lineage/terp profile/THC).

What role does cannabis play when it comes to you making music? Cannabis plays a huge role in my music making process. Don’t get me wrong there are times I make music without

smoking but for the most part you’ll always catch me with at least a half ounce and some Loose Leafs/Dutches/ Backwoods while I’m in the studio.

How would you describe your music style and where can people find your work?

I would describe my music as versatile/genuine/motivating. They can find it on all platforms. Whatever streaming app you use you’ll find me there. Whether it’s Apple Music, Spotify, Youtube, Tidal, etc.. type in Lil2wenty2wo…..and just vibe out.

Do you have any favorite cannabis brands?

My favorite cannabis brand out here is definitely Cookies. Shoutout to Berner cause I love flower. But I’m also vibin’ with that Legend OG from State Flower right now plus that Tsunami flower! Also, shoutout to my brotha Kyle from Sauced as well man…that guy is a good dude. Has shown me mad love in a short amount of time. Go get you some SAUCED… they drip different. Another brand I mess with heavy, their carts/flower/concentrate in general is always Top Notch.

What you been smoking on?

Lately I've been smoking on that Doggy Bagg by Cookies… the collab w/ Snoop Dogg. You see I was born in Long Beach, CA so I have to show some love. I mess with a couple of their strains right now though and to be honest, the Blood Moon strain is solid too. Besides that just been smoking a lot of Legend OG, some of that mango kush from Medizin, some OG18 from Remedy, Apple Tarts #7 from Stiiizy, and that White Fire Sherbert from Sauced.

My Journey >>> with 5-MeO-DMT

Disclaimer: We do not encourage illegal activity. Check with and adhere to your local laws. We do not claim psychedelics or plant medicine to be a substitute for professional medical care. Always consult with your doctor. The goal of this article is to promote entertainment, safety and education.

Life has a curious way of catapulting us into uncharted territories, doesn't it? One moment you're going about your days, wearing familiar grooves in your consciousness, and the next, you're flung headfirst into an experience so profoundly impactful, it leaves you forever changed. We've all had these encounters— cross-country moves, becoming a parent, the loss of a loved one, finding your soulmate—in these moments, our vision shifts, and the world feels different somehow. My most life-changing moment didn’t involve a person or a place, but a meeting with a molecule—a substance known as 5-MeO-DMT.

Along the path of my psychedelic research, I learned that 5-MeO-DMT was known to provide a more potent and deeply spiritual experience than traditional DMT. While traditional DMT generally comes from plants like the Mimosa hostilis, 5-MeO-DMT is most commonly sourced from the gland secretions of certain toads. This medicine is sacred to many, especially in Mexico where the Bufo Alvarius toad is found.

In time, fate brought the best facilitator I could ask for in the form of Steve Urquhart, founder of The Divine Assembly. TDA is a spiritual community that believes in using magic mushrooms as a way to connect with the Divine. Protected by the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, they legally use psilocybin as a sacrament within their practice. Their faith contains no dogma and their members are encouraged to hold ceremonies under the guidance of the community or on their own. TDA regularly holds gatherings where members can come together, socialize, and if they so choose, utilize sacrament at will.

When the right moment presented itself, Steve organized a beautiful space and ceremony that served in reverence of the medicine’s

sacred nature. It was nighttime, and I was led into a dimly lit bedroom with candles all around. A friend was also present and she and Steve started by clearing the room with sage and prayer. They sat and prayed with me, as well as over the medicine. Then, all three of us gave thanks for the medicine and for the living creature it was derived from.

My friend began singing to me. I didn’t recognize the song, but her voice was angelic and serene. I put the pipe to my lips and inhaled deeply. The DMT tasted like mothballs dipped in mothballs, but as the smoke filled my lungs, the taste turned to a heavy, musky, aged forest floor. If wisdom had a flavor, this would be it.

I could feel the medicine traveling, swirling through my body, all the way down to my tippy toes. It was at this moment that I was pulled into another realm at an incredible velocity, through a tunnel of starlike streaks very similar to Star Trek’s warp speed. The medicine made its way to the ends of my long, jet-black flowing hair with a tingling energy, and once it had consumed my full being, the hyperspace feeling abruptly ceased. Every cell in my body exhaled a sigh and I was left floating in space, cradled by the chi of the universe.

Following this cellular exhale, any thoughts, worries, expectations all dissipated and I embraced nothingness. That might sound scary, and in many cases, being consumed by the void is, but this was different. The blackness surrounding me wasn’t simply black. It was deep, rich, iridescent, interdimensional purple, almost holographic in nature, and it was this slight nuance that made the darkness peaceful and magical. The iridescence began swirling, and I knew I was on the edge of the galaxy. Within that planetary tornado, I also became aware of the vastness of the universe and acknowledged that everything—the galaxy, the stars, Earth, everyone I’d ever loved—existed within this sea of space.

The voice of my friend’s singing echoed into a choir of women, and I realized these were the collective voices of my ancestors. I witnessed

some as portraits, others as working the fields. Some wore the slender, embroidered traditional silk garments of the Qing Dynasty known as cheongsam. Women of the Shang Dynasty stood boldly, the draping sleeves of their long, full Hanfu dresses billowing in the wind. Present were women from every dynasty, some as young as babies, others weathered with age— each wrinkle in their faces held the stories of preceding generations. I had the sense that each of these women were immortalized in time, their image an indicator of who they were when they crossed the mortal plane. They had endured the mid-century’s great famine, the Taiping Civil War, the Haiyuan earthquake and the Yellow River flood. Generations upon generations, a million intertwined threads in the tapestry of my life, and I was at the loom, inspecting the lineage of each one. I could feel their love, sense their energy, knew their failures, endured their hardships, celebrated their triumphs, sat in their gratitude, and absorbed their wisdom. I realized that all of it, everything they were, all of their experiences, every bit of their wisdom, united to birth me. All of their love, joy, sorrow, pain, perseverance, and energy had accumulated to create me. It was me.

The most profound connection I experienced was that of my maternal grandmother, Po Po, who passed from a stroke at the mahjong table. Though she helped raise me in Hong Kong when I was very young, I didn’t get the chance to know her the way I would have liked, and could never remember her outside of family pictures. But now, here she was before me, guiding my way.

“You’re not alone,” she spoke as the images of past generations flooded my mind. Her Cantonese tongue plucked my heart like a zither, and despite my unfamiliarity with the language, I understood every word.

“You’re never alone. The collective power of these women fuels everything you are. You need not rely solely on your wit to solve your struggles. We are here for you. Call upon the strength of your ancestors for guidance and we will lift you up.”

44 Nevada's Original Cannabis Resource // Since 2014

This was a message I so desperately needed to hear.

DMT journeys are relatively short—about 7 to 8 minutes—and it became clear that my time in this realm was coming to an end. When it came time for me to return, I knew I needed something to ground myself, something that would help me make a safe transition back to the familiar expanse we refer to as “reality”. I focused on the ancestral voices all around me, grasped them tight, and wrapped them securely around my hands. The choir transformed back into one singular, angelic voice—that of my friend—and I allowed it to pull me peacefully through the swirling iridescent tunnel of the galaxy while a cosmic breeze caressed my face. Safely on the other side, I remained with my eyes closed for a few more moments, hoping to extend the journey, but the medicine had gracefully laid me back into the safe arms of my friend before it departed.

I opened my eyes. My friend was performing reiki on me while Steve continued to keep guard at the foot of the bed, his back turned to me. It seemed a different room than the one I’d been in just moments before my journey. No, I realized. I was seeing it through new eyes.

After much reflection, I realize I’d spent my whole existence withdrawing from life and hiding in fear to escape the pain housed within. The whole time, I’d been searching endlessly for an answer and a purpose outside of myself. In fact, alcohol hadn’t been my only vice. It was part of a greater addiction—the search for a Band-Aid profound enough to “fix” me. In an effort to numb the pain, I turned to an entire bottle of wine each day. In an effort to be whole, I spent years with my nose in selfhelp books, courses, and all the motivational mumbo-jumbo I could stomach. In fact, I had a collection of spiritual books I didn’t even read, convinced somehow that I could simply add them in my Amazon cart, and buy my way into enlightenment. But now, in this moment, I knew that I was so much more. The energy and wisdom of the generations of women before me

coursed through my veins. It was my answer and my purpose. Who was I to disrespect my ancestors and waste a single day living in fear or engaging in destructive behavior?

Along with these epiphanies, I realized the phrase, “It runs in the family” is truer than we think. The intergenerational trauma we carry is not merely the result of our parents. It’s tied to a long lineage of multiple generations before they were even a thought. Likewise, it makes sense that it may be passed on, not just to our children, but to our children’s children’s children for generations to come. To acknowledge this is to ask ourselves… What unhealed wounds am I passing on to future generations?

Aligning with this truth, I reframed the question: What would I like to pass on?

The medicine had helped me understand that my life-long curse was that I couldn’t hear myself. I couldn’t quiet the noise and the static of everyday life, responsibilities, stress, anxiety and depression. I couldn’t turn it off. What psychedelics gave me was the ability to hit the mute button and finally be able to tune into my inner monologue and the wisdom of those who came before. It provided me with a profound sense of connectedness to my being and the capacity to trust in myself as the only necessary source for the answers I so desperately needed. Metaphorically, I’d been frantically scouring the house for my keys while they were in my hand the whole time. Everything I needed was in me all along.

Industry Spotlight Rae White >>>

This month, Rae White celebrates five years working at Reef Dispensaries. She is one of the kindest, and hardest working people I have met in the Nevada cannabis industry. As the Assistant General Manager at Reef on Western, Rae greets patrons with a smile and lends assistance wherever needed. Recently, I sat down with her to find out what brought her to the industry and where she sees herself in the future.

STEPHANIE SHEHAN: Hi Rae, it’s great to see you. Congratulations on five years with Reef. What position did you start in and how did you move up?

RAE WHITE: I started as a budtender. I learned everything anyone was willing to teach, and I took the first opening they had which happened to be the graveyard shift. I worked every shift for at least four months before landing on the morning shift. I was then promoted again and went back to graveyard and now I’m back to the morning shift again.

SS: Did you work for other cannabis companies prior to your current company? If so, what companies and what positions?

RW: Reef has been my one and only since I’ve entered the cannabis industry.

SS: That’s impressive, we see a lot of turnover in the industry. What did you do before cannabis?

RW: I was an Assistant Manager for a jewelry company.

SS: What led you to the cannabis industry?

RW: I truly love cannabis and all the benefits it has. I believe it helps the body in all types of ways.

SS: Cannabis definitely has health benefits. Are you a cannabis consumer yourself? If so, any favorite products?

RW: I will always be a cannabis connoisseur. My all-time favorite type of product is flower and my favorite cultivator is Nature's Chemistry.

SS: Nature’s Chemistry is awesome! What do you like best about working for Reef Dispensaries?

RW: I love the family feel. We all come to work and talk about the one thing we all love which is cannabis. It doesn’t get any better than that.

SS: What do you like best about the industry in general?

RW: This industry is still in its baby years, we have a lot more to accomplish in the industry and being able to witness the progression firsthand is an absolute honor.

SS: It’s really refreshing to hear such positivity. Is there anything you would like to see changed within the industry?

RW: I would love to see strains that are specific to certain areas be able to reach coast to coast.

SS: What advice would you give to someone looking to get into the cannabis industry?

RW: If being in cannabis is your dream, never give up. There is plenty of room for all of us, and it will happen if you trust the process.

SS: That’s great advice. As someone in management, what expectations do you have of employees working for you?

RW: I expect my employees to show up and give 100% every day. They must show their love for the industry and make the one-of-a-kind interactions.

SS: Where do you see yourself in five years?

RW: In five years I hope to find my way into

a leadership position in which I can give back knowledge and support to people in the industry. I hope to continue to meet and develop relationships with like minded and passionate people and continue to advance my experience and education.

SS: How can readers follow you?

RW: I am on Instagram @Beauty.Budz_.

SS: Anything you want to add?

RW: I am a Vegas native. I’m friendly and always lead with love and compassion. If you ever see me in the streets, say hello.

SIP, NIBBLE & TRIP >>> Blue Lotus - A “Legal Psychedelic”

*Author’s Disclaimer: We do not encourage illegal activity, nor the sale or trade of illegal substances. Check with and adhere to your local laws. We do not claim plant medicine to be a substitute for professional medical care. Always consult with your doctor. The goal of this article is to promote safety and education.

As interest in psychedelics reemerges, many people are curious about "legal psychedelics" and if they can provide the same therapeutic benefits and stress-relief as classic psychedelics.. A year and half ago, I made the decision to quit alcohol (after being an alcoholic for 27 years) and began exploring plant medicines. One natural option that piqued my curiosity was Blue Lotus, which contains psychoactive properties, though its effects are much milder in contrast. Nevertheless, it possesses unique characteristics that, in my opinion, could prove beneficial to those who suffer with restlessness and anxiety.

In this month’s article, we’re focusing on the origins and effects of Blue Lotus and how you can make your own Blue Lotus mocktail at home.

What is Blue Lotus?

Blue Lotus, also known as Nymphaea caerulea, is a water lily that is native to Egypt and other parts of North Africa. It has a long history of use in traditional medicine and spiritual practices, and is sometimes utilized for its psychoactive effects. Blue Lotus is not typically considered a potent psychedelic substance like LSD or psilocybin, but it does contain psychoactive compounds, the main two being apomorphine and nuciferine. Apomorphine has been studied for its potential benefits in treating neurological disorders and is known to have a soothing, calming effect. Nuciferine, on the other hand, is an alkaloid associated with feelings of tranquility and relaxation. Together, these compounds give Blue Lotus its characteristic mood-enhancing and calming properties. Some even use Blue Lotus as a natural alternative to prescription sedatives.

What is Blue Lotus Used for?

The most typical reasons people ingest Blue Lotus include:

Relaxation and stress relief: Blue Lotus is often used for relaxation and as a sleep aid. Some people drink it as tea or smoke the dried flowers to help with insomnia or anxiety.

Improved mood and emotional well-being: The mild psychoactive effects of Blue Lotus may produce mood-enhancing effects. Some people claim it brings about a sense of peace, joy, and well-being. Some people also report experiencing a sense of euphoria and vivid dreams after using Blue Lotus.

Aphrodisiac effects: In addition to its reputed use as a love potion, Blue Lotus has been utilized as a traditional solution for issues like erectile dysfunction. This might be attributed to the compound apomorphine, which has shown promise in research for addressing ED issues.

What are the Potential Side Effects of Blue Lotus?

Using Blue Lotus can lead to several side effects, including drowsiness, breathing issues, potential allergies, interactions with other medications, stomach discomfort, and even mild hallucinations, especially when taken

in large amounts. Always consult with your doctor before starting Blue Lotus or any new supplement to ensure it's safe based on your current medications and health conditions.

What is the Dosage for Blue Lotus?

The dosage of Blue Lotus can vary widely based on the form it's being used in and the desired effects. It's often consumed as a tea, in which case about 5 grams of dried flowers are typically steeped per cup. However, dosages can be lower or higher depending on individual sensitivity and tolerance.

If you're using Blue Lotus extract, dosages are typically much lower due to its concentrated nature. Many suggest starting with just a few drops and slowly increasing the dosage if necessary.

Remember, everyone's body responds differently to different substances, and what works for one person may not work for another. Always start with a small dose to see how your body reacts.

The initial effects of Blue Lotus are typically felt within 20 minutes and might include gentle euphoria, relaxation and groundedness.

Where to Find Blue Lotus Tincture?

Blue Lotus can be found at various locations, including online marketplaces like Amazon and Etsy, herbal and health stores, specialty tea shops, and online retailers that specialize in traditional medicinal plants. Also, holistic and natural healing centers often carry Blue Lotus.

Functional Mocktail with Blue Lotus

When it came to conjuring up a standout Blue Lotus mocktail, one person in particular popped into my head: remarkable culinary maestro, Megan Price. Meg is the proud owner of True Heart Chef services, a distinguished venture based in Las Vegas, where she uses her culinary skills to create unforgettable terpine-focused meals infused with cannabis. She’s also a cannabis chef for Lady Led Collabs and creates the Provisions edibles line at Green Therapeutics. With a bachelor's degree in culinary management and classical French training, she has been shaping her craft in professional kitchens since the age of 16.

Meg has a special knack for incorporating various forms of cannabis into her meals, from dabs to flower to edibles. Her unique approach involves using the same strain throughout the entire meal, crafting a unified culinary experience. And it doesn’t stop there. She goes to great lengths to enhance the terpene profile of these masterful meals, like using lemon to highlight limonene, or rosemary to complement the spicy notes of caryophyllene.

Meg's ultimate goal is to elevate cannabis beyond its usual confines, and to showcase it as an integral part of the gourmet dining experience. With her innovative approach to infusing cannabis in haute cuisine, I couldn't think of a better person to craft a tantalizing Blue Lotus mocktail.

50 Nevada's Original Cannabis Resource // Since 2014

As expected, Meg did not disappoint. In fact, she saw my Blue Lotus challenge and raised me a double dose of anti-anxiety by adding butterfly pea flower tea to the mix.

Fun Fact: Did you know that butterfly pea flower’s scientific name is Clitoria ternatea? Like us, you might also find that humorous, until you realize that its namesake is due to the fact that the blossom resembles the shape of female genitalia, then it becomes HILARIOUS because we’re all completely immature. (Seriously, go Google it right now.)

What makes this mocktail even MORE magical is that, upon adding in a shot of sour mix, the butterfly pea flower tea changes color right before your eyes, from dark, inky blue to a beautiful deep purple. This fascinating transformation is due to a neat little science trick involving pH levels.

You see, the butterfly pea flower tea is sensitive to changes in pH, which is a measure of how acidic or basic something is. The tea itself is more basic, which gives it that beautiful blue color. But when you add the sour mix, which is more acidic, it changes the pH of the drink. The flower reacts to this change, and voila! You get that stunning shift to purple. It's like a mini science experiment in your glass, adding another layer of fun to this magical mocktail.

The end result is a rather stunning drink that mimics the Vegas desert at dusk, hence, we’re calling it the Sin City Sunset

Sin City Sunset Mocktail

Makes 1

Ingredients:

1 ml Blue Lotus Tincture

2 oz Butterfly Pea Flower tea (if using powder instead of steeping whole flowers, about 1/8tsp to 2 oz water)

2 oz simple syrup

Ice

1 egg white

1 oz sour mix

Lemon (optional) for garnish

Fresh thyme sprig (optional) for garnish

Steps:

Note: If you’re feeling fancy, Chef Meg recommends replacing the simple syrup with 1 oz ginger syrup and 1 oz thyme syrup to enhance the complexity of the drink and make it really feel like a nice cocktail. To make these, boil equal parts sugar and water until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat, then steep your thyme or fresh sliced ginger in the water until it’s as flavorful as you want. Strain and store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.

In a cocktail shaker, combine the Blue Lotus Tincture, 2oz Butterfly Pea Flower Tea, simple syrup and ice. In a small bowl, crack your egg, and separate the egg white from the yolk. Save the yolk for another use (like tomorrow’s breakfast!) and add the egg white to the shaker. Place the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously until foamy, about 2 minutes. Pour the mix into a martini (or similar) glass, leaving a little room for more liquid. Pour in just 1 oz of the sour mix and watch the color change! Garnish, optionally, with a slice of lemon and a sprig of thyme.

Disclaimer: Using real egg white in cocktails can create a wonderful foamy texture and give the drink a silky feel. Egg whites not only make your drink look fantastic, but they also soften the tanginess of sour mixes and give your drink a lighter touch. Risks of consuming egg whites in cocktails are extremely minimal, but there’s still a risk. Use clean, fresh pasteurized eggs, cartoned egg white, or substitute with aquafaba.

Keep yourself in check so your popularity doesn’t inflate your ego, and ensure you remain humble and receptive to feedback. The New Moon in Leo on August 16th is a great time to think about how you want this positivity to carry you through the rest of the year.

VIRGO (AUG 22 – SEPT 22)

Things feel slow and the lack of progress is making you moody. With Mercury and Mars in Virgo at the beginning of the month, be cautious of over analyzing, passing judgment, and nit picking. It’s not the best time to make any long term important decisions especially when Mercury moves retrograde in Virgo on the 23rd. Instead, use this month as a period of inner reflections and introspection to avoid all the ups and downs. Try a heavy mind numbing dab like the Amnesia Sugar by AMA to help ease your mood swings. Take this time to analyze your past choices, reassess your goals, and make necessary adjustments. While progress may seem slow externally, much transformation is happening within.

LIBRA (SEP 22 – OCT 23)

For Libra individuals, August highlights social connections and networking. Your empathy is off the charts and you will be a solid support for your friends to rely on. You enjoy when your friends confide in you and it brings you closer. Your ability to build bridges and form meaningful relationships will help you expand your horizons both personally and professionally. Engage in collaborative efforts, join groups, or attend events that align with your interests to take advantage of this highly social time and your successful communication skills. Although you’re feeling very generous with your energy, you may feel a bit hesitant or indecisive about some people. Don’t make any final decisions, especially with Mercury moving

retrograde at the end of the month. Instead, keep a pack of Hail Mary Pretzel Bites by Hi Now! handy for when they may be testing your patience.

SCORPIO (OCT 23 – NOV 21)

Consider setting bold goals and taking calculated risks to reach your ambitions as you’ll be able to achieve whatever you set your mind to this month. However, be aware of potential power struggles or conflicts with others. Your fixed nature and stubbornness can hold you back from playing nice. It will seem that you have no regard for others because you are so focused on your goals. You are obsessed with your desires this month. Colleagues and acquaintances may envy your success so try to find a diplomatic balance and avoid unnecessary confrontations. Or, puff on a strong, chill strain like Mr. Gelato by The Grower Circle to rise above what others may think and keep doing you.

SAGITTARIUS (NOV 21 – DEC 21)

This month, Sagittarius will crave freedom and exploration. Engage in activities that broaden your mental horizons, such as reading, traveling, or enrolling in a new course. Embrace opportunities for personal growth that challenge your perspectives by trying something new or traveling in a different direction. You’re also feeling extra passionate and have a lot of sexual energy to work with. The best thing to do would be to take a vacation or a class that allows you to explore new areas of your sexuality. It’s easy not to take things too seriously so just enjoy it while it lasts and allow yourself to be led by your desires. Try a sativa cartridge that will keep you sprung on all your adventures like the Banana Guava Flower Rosin Cartridge by CAMP.

CAPRICORN (DEC 21 – JAN 19)

August brings a lot of mood swings that negatively affect your relationships. Specifically, your desire to control everything will cause a lot of stress for you. Try not to be so demanding of others. These struggles prompt Capricorn to focus on emotional healing and self care. Prioritize your emotional well being above all else, as internal balance will positively impact all aspects of your life. Seek support from loved ones or professional therapists if needed. Be patient with progress, as healing takes time. You won’t be so focused on work this month so take that time for leisurely activities that make you feel good. A helpful healing activity we recommend is dabbing some Dosidos Live Resin Sugar by Tsunami.

AQUARIUS (JAN 19 – FEB 18)

The full moon in Aquarius on the 1st of August starts the month off with wild and restless energy that carries through. Although you will be

faced with many personal obstacles, they ultimately lead to growth and expansion. You may take things too seriously and be overly demanding of yourself. Try not to get in your own way. Sharing your struggles will be the best way to embrace your shortcomings and see that you may be expecting too much. Your support system will help you stay out of a depressive state. Open up to close friends and family with a talkative strain like the Super Sour Diesel by Nature’s Chemistry. Give yourself lots of free time to figure things out.

PISCES (FEB 18 – MAR 20)

Say yes to all the events, share yourself with others, and fully enjoy every moment in August. Usually, your emotions can be a distraction but this month, you’re feeling the love! People enjoy your playful nature and listen to everything that you say. Go with the flow and you’ll find yourself in the right place at the right time. Although you may not be as responsible as you typically are, you realize that most things aren’t worth stressing over, especially at work. It’s ok, enjoy it while it lasts and let loose a little! The Platinum Daze by Pheno Exotic is the perfect strain to help you seize the day with your new carefree attitude.

ALL OUR RELATIONS

Native Struggles for Land & Life

There are not many activists in history that have fought for the rights of people since they were a teenager. Winona LaDuke is one of the few. When she was 18 years old she testified before the United Nations about the exploitation of Native lands. Now, her book All Our Relations: Native Struggles for Land and Life, about the exploitation and pollution of Native land and the planet overall is coming up on 25 years since it was first published. Needless to say, things have not improved much, in fact, in most cases they have become much worse.

Published in 1999, All Our Relations goes into horrific details about the toxic invasion of Native lands and the first people who inhabit it. “Over 2,000 nations of Indigenous peoples have gone extinct in the western hemisphere, and one nation disappears from the Amazon rainforest every year.” LaDuke connects the loss of cultural diversity to the loss of biodiversity. She begins by speaking of the environmental stewardship, the relationship Indigenous people have to plants, animals, and the environment that encompasses their culture. How their history and rituals are intertwined with nature and, as inhabitants of the planet, their responsibility to protect it.

According to the Worldwatch Institute, 317 reservations in the United States are threatened by environmental hazards, ranging from toxic waste to clearcuts. In the first chapter, we find out that Mohawk women of Akwesasne have high levels of PCBs in their breast milk due to the 823,000 cubic yards of PCB-contaminated materials at a Superfund site, left behind by the car manufacturer General Motors (GM). This toxic material has destroyed the land, the water, and the bodies of the Mohawk people and their babies. Over the centuries the Mohawk and Haudenosaunee land has been ceded through force, coercion, and deceit until fewer that 14,600 acres remain in New York State. In the 1990s, even more land and jurisdiction grabs continued in Mohawk communities, as well as the Native peoples' resistance to them. But when it comes to industrial takeovers, GM was not the only corporation to pollute the land and water of the area. In 1903, the Aluminum Company of America began polluting. In 1949 the St. Lawrence Seaway and Moses-Sanders Power Dam were built allowing huge ships to enter the Great Lakes from the Atlantic Ocean turning both the river and lakes into a toxic cesspool.

Stories of colonialism and its destructive nature repeat all through the book. Even here in Nevada where Western Shoshone and Paiute people have been protesting test sites and nuclear waste dumps since the 1950s. Although the government maintains that the maximum radiation exposure from above ground tests are equivalent to that of a single x-ray, in 1997, the National Cancer Institute made public a study of radiation exposure from aboveground nuclear tests that showed that some 160 million people had suffered significant radiation exposure from the tests with an average of over 200 times more than the amount indicated by the government. The largest percentage of those affected being nearby Indigenous tribes. Yucca Mountain in Northern Nevada is an on-again-off-again nuclear waste geological repository. Currently, the Biden administration does not plan to use the area

for nuclear waste disposal.

Throughout the book, LaDuke implores us to recognize the urgency of addressing climate change, environmental degradation, and social injustice. She highlights the destructive consequences of extractive industries, emphasizing the need to prioritize environmental justice and the rights of Indigenous peoples. Her passionate advocacy for renewable energy alternatives and regenerative agriculture serves as a blueprint for creating a more just and sustainable future, which is needed now more than ever.

The fight continues. Currently, the largest lithium mine in the United States is being protested in Northern Nevada. The Canadian firm, Lithium Nevada has proposed to build an open pit mine in Thacker Pass, close to the Nevada/Oregon border. The site is considered sacred land of the Paiute and Shoshone people.

There’s still hope. Recently, the Cherokee Nation just stopped the Sequoyah Fuels Corp from dumping radioactive waste near the Arkansas and Illinois Rivers. As long as the people join together to take action, we can stop the industrial pollution and those corporations that continue to destroy our land and water.

All Our Relations is a call to action, a plea to honor Indigenous wisdom, and an urgent reminder of our responsibility to protect and nurture the Earth. Winona LaDuke's passion leaves an indelible impression, inspiring us to embrace sustainable practices and cultivate a deeper connection to nature and each other.

I highly suggest you spark up a fatty, take a deep breath and prepare yourself to be enraged. This book is worth Reading Lit!

Cooking with Cannabis

Cooking for a Queen with Marnie

Montroy

Texas Style

Infused BBQ Sauce and an Infused, Smoked Lemonade

3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons spicy mustard

2 tablespoons (Infused THC) honey

1 tablespoon paprika

2 teaspoons chili powder

Salt, to taste

Black pepper, to taste

BBQ SAUCE PREPARATION:

Get all the ingredients together measured and ready. Use a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, to melt the butter and then add the onion and celery. Let that cook for 4-5 minutes until the onion and celery are soft. Add the minced garlic and cook for only 15 to 20 seconds (and no longer). Add the water and bouillon cube. Make sure you stir well to dissolve the cube. Now, add the rest of your ingredients. Simmer on low for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Take the sauce off the heat and let it cool for 15 minutes. You're going to want to blend this all together in a blender or food processor for 15 to 30 seconds. You can add the sauce to marinate or begin grilling right away!

SMOKED LEMONADE INGREDIENTS:

5 lemons will give you about one cup of juice, resulting in six servings of lemonade. I used 10 lemons for this recipe

4-5 cups of water - 3 cups if your adding ice

Strainer

Large glass pitcher

***Optional - Infused Honey ( you can make it or there are a few brands out there at your local dispensary) This will just add to the sweetness

It's Summertime and everyone loves to get outdoors and enjoy a pool and some good BBQ. I have been spending time in Texas and have had the luxury of trying several amazing BBQ spots. This gave me inspiration to want to share a great way to make this BBQ style no matter where you are grilling it up! Y’all know I am infamous for my lemonade so I decided to pair this delicious Smoked Lemonade recipe to make with your BBQ. Smoking the lemons brings out its natural sweetness to a richer fuller unique smoked flavor you're gonna love! Hope you enjoy, and as always Bon Appetit.

BBQ SAUCE INGREDIENTS:

1/4 cup butter or (cannabutter)

1/4 cup minced onion

3 stalks celery, coarsely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup water

1 teaspoon, or 1 cube beef bouillon

1 cup ketchup

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

Infused Simple Syrup (recipe: equal parts water/sugar. I recommend 1 cup of each. Bring sugar and water to a light simmer, stirring regularly. Just before it boils turn off the heat and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Transfer to a jar and allow to cool before storing.

SMOKED LEMONADE PREPARATION:

Cut your Lemons in half. Place them on a baking sheet or grill cut-side down. If you decide to grill them, 225’ is a good grilling temperature for about 45 min to an hour and if you want to just use your oven I recommend 400’ for about 15 to 25 min or till they are charred and brown around the edges. Let your lemons cool. Squeeze them into your glass container/pitcher using a strainer. Now add your simple syrup shake and stir vigorously. I would recommend maybe a mint garnish or just place a lemon on your rim. You can add vodka or bourbon to make it a cocktail as well.

Cooking with Cannabushi

>>> An Infusion Series with chef chris rodarte

What’s up all you Stoner’s and Stonette’s! This month we have something really easy to make that’s just as delicious as it looks! I wanted to give the “feeling” of sushi, just without the raw fish and everything else that comes with it. Maybe you found some gummies in the last edible issue? Play with your food and have fun! Let’s get to it!

Skunky Spanakopita

to mix them with your spinach. At this point you want to mix in your garlic, garlic powder, and onion powder. Now that you have each part of your Spanakopita mixed. It’s time to mix everything together. Yes. All of it! If you want to mix in a little at a time that’s fine. You want 50/50 but if you want more cheese, go ahead! Each Greek makes it differently and so can you!

Ingredients:

4 lbs of cooked and chopped spinach (squeezed)

50 5x5 puff pastry sheets or phyllo dough

5 lbs of Greek crumbled feta cheese

8 white onions (chopped)

3 cups minced garlic

2 cups garlic powder

1 cup onion powder

2 cups oregano

2 cups dill

1 lb of unsalted butter

1 lb of cannabutter

INSTRUCTIONS:

First off, you want to make sure all of your water in the spinach has been squeezed out of it. Wet spinach means a soggy pie. Then take all of your feta and mix it with the oregano and dill. Grab a pan and cook all of your white onions. You want a nice caramelization. Drain and place to the side to cool. Once the onions have cooled you need

Once your pie mixture is ready, turn your oven to 375 degrees. While that’s pre-heating, open up the puff pastry or phyllo dough. This is where it will be different for those who choose one or the other. Puff Pastry: Place a fair amount of your spinach mixture on one side of the pastry. Fold over and it will look like a rectangle. Take a fork and press the ends first, then the one side. Repeat until finished. It will look like a mini apple pie. Phyllo Dough: Place enough of your mix to create a triangle in the first corner of the dough. Begin to fold a football. Kinda like the paper footballs when we were younger. Make sure you have wrapped it at least 4 times. Seal with a little water. Repeat until finished. Each type cooks the same and at the same temperature. Using a buttered sheet pan or one lined with parchment paper. Place your Spanakopita on the sheet until full. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes. The Phyllo dough could cook quicker, just keep an eye on it.

Halfway through the cooking process you want to baste your pies with butter. This is what makes a great Spanakopita! Once everything has cooked. You are looking for a golden brown, crispy pie. Pull out of the oven and let cool. At this point you need to baste your cannabutter on the ones you want to be infused. Top and bottom. I recommend using gloves for this. You can cut the puff pastry ones into triangles if you want and just make sure to butter everything as you go. Mmmmm, a nice, infused Greek treat!

There you have it! You just made a very tasty, Greek Spinach Pie. Otherwise known as ‘Spanakopita’. The guys from Fortunate Youth loved them and so will the people you care about. Especially the ones you infused! I hope you enjoyed this recipe as I have. Thank you to Fortunate Youth And Lucid Psychedelics!
