he Fashion Mall was VCCâ€™s first large project that really put us on the map as a large-scale construction company. At the time, mixed-use was a new product in construction and The Fashion Mall included retail, office, hotel and parking. It was our chance to show that we could really handle any size or scope put

in front of us. With retail space over 900,000 square feet, six-story office building, 252-suite hotel, and multiple parking decks with more than 4,000 spaces, our team worked closely with the Simon Property Group to deliver the project to the highest quality, on-time and on-budget.

CC has always taken pride in building projects that give back to our communities. Even before we expanded to have offices all across the country, giving back to our home in Little Rock, AR became a part of our culture as a company. Early on we had the opportunity to do that with The Hope Lodge. We completed all new construction on this 18,000 square

foot facility. Our scope of work included construction of the living and communal spaces, sitting rooms, kitchens and dining rooms. With over 1 million people diagnosed with cancer each year, the Lodge takes in financially needy patients to live and be supported while they receive treatment. Still today The Hope Lodge continues to serve those in need in Little Rock.

arly on in our history, VCC expanded its scope of work into various product sectors. This included the healthcare sector. From medical office buildings to academic and research facilities, we started to make our mark in healthcare construction. The first medical project we completed was a Dialysis Center in Little Rock in 1989. Throughout the first decade we built over 20 projects in the medical field and many of those were for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences school (UAMS). In the late 1800s, eight physicians invested $5,000 to start the first medical school in Arkansas. UAMS was transformed from a small medical school with a charity hospital into an academic health and research center. UAMS now employs over 10,000 people.

In the early 1990s UAMS continued to expand its services and was in need of a heliport and major parking deck expansion. We completed both of these projects in 1993 and continued to work for UAMS in Little Rock as well as its Northwest Arkansas campus.

Historic Landmarks - Circa 1996

THE ICE HOUSE REVIVAL Little Rock, Arkansas

his new construction project replaced a Hillcrest landmark that burned in the 1990s. A 16,000 square foot mixed-use building, the Ice House offers fitness centers, bars, restaurants,

shops and office space to the neighborhood. While this project was certainly a revival for the neighborhood, its appearance blends in with the other historic buildings present there.

NORTHFIELD AT STAPLETON First LEED Project Denver, Colorado

Did you know? Northfield at Stapleton was a new construction project with 1.2 million sf and one of the first retail centers in the country to build green. It was the largest retail center ever to enroll in the Xcel Design Assistance Program (XDAP.)

his decade was filled with some major milestones for our company. One in particular was our first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design LEED (LEED) project, Northfield at Stapleton, in Denver, Colorado. This project was an open-air, 1.2 million square foot town center with shops, restaurants and entertainment. From solar panels that generate electricity, high efficiency plumbing fixtures, an evaporative cooling system and reflective roofs to lower roof temperatures and so much more, Northfield at Stapleton was a prime example of what sustainability was all about. Nowadays it is hard to think back to when “going green” wasn’t the standard. The U.S. Green Building Council was founded in 1993 with the mission to promote sustainability-focused practices in the construction industry. It wasn’t until 2000 that the USGBC unveiled the LEED rating system that has now become the international standard for environmentally sound buildings. Northfield at Stapleton was not only VCC’s first LEED project but it was the first green-certified main street project in the country to receive LEED Silver certification. The project was also the first ever to enroll in the Xcel Design Assistance Program (XDAP), a program that offered cash incentives to building owners who follow green building recommendations.

THE OUTLET COLLECTION AT RIVERWALK New Orleans, Louisiana

ormerly known as Riverwalk Marketplace, The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk in New Orleans is located downtown next to the grand Mississippi River and features a variety of upscale outlet retail venues. When The Howard Hughes Corporation purchased the building, plans were soon developed to demolish the mallâ€™s interior spaces and to create a new retail

destination within the existing mallâ€™s exterior shell structure. As such the mall has been completely renovated and expanded. Extensive coordination with New Orleans Regional Transit Authority, Port Authorities, River One and Hilton management was key to successfully completing this project.

ROOSEVELT FIELD MALL Garden City, New York

t more than two million square feet, the historic and trendy Roosevelt Field Mall is one of the largest malls in the United States. With a signature glass and steel roof structure, the renovations to Roosevelt Field take this mall to the next level. In Garden City, New York on Long Island, the mall is located on the airfield that Lindbergh took off from for his flight across the Atlantic Ocean in 1927. The mall includes a Tesla dealership and Macyâ€™s as the anchor department store. The vision for the renovations of Roosevelt Field Mall included a new Dining District concept, new retail opportunities and a design that would

touch all areas of the property and completely transform Roosevelt Field for the 21st century. VCC renovations included interior and exterior upgrades, renovation and expansion of parking, and a complete food court overhaul. The new food court has an ultra modern flare with a dramatic, sweeping skylight structure overhead. Our team built a new parking garage next to the existing garages. Due to the proximity of the garage structures, significant efforts were needed to plan project phasing of the sitework and the parking garage structures so that the mall had enough parking available at any time throughout the course of the construction.

ST. JOHNâ€™S TOWN CENTER Expansion of Luxury Wing Jacksonville, Florida

wo new retail buildings were added to the existing St. John’s Town Center located in Jacksonville, Florida. At 20-years old, this was the fourth expansion that capped off the luxury wing of the retail destination center. The architectural style was contemporary and high-end. This new project was located on what was an existing parking lot. The exterior hardscaping was elaborately designed while new parking and signage were added to accommodate the expansion. Accessing the small staging area along with coordinating public safety were challenges that our team worked closely with the owner and architect teams to overcome. The retail center remained open during construction.

Challenging Renovation

FASHION CENTER AT PENTAGON Arlington, Virginia

his project included the renovation and expansion of the existing 4 story, 60,000 square foot mall. Renovations to the common area included replacement of all finishes from tile, railing and lighting to columns and vertical transportation. Several other custom features were added including two new, fourstory custom glass elevators and a three-story stone â€œpicture frameâ€? to provide visible impact to the newly renovated food court. The mall expansion included the addition of a new twostory, 60,000 sf building and main mall entry.

There were many special challenges associated with this project including high levels of pedestrian traffic both during the day and after typical mall hours; limited to no access and storage on site; extreme accessibility challenges that required a custom scaffolding system; extensive unmarked utilities discovered during underground work; and the main entrance to the mall had to be maintained during the construction of the expansion. This was accomplished using tunnels and widespread safety and directional signage.

Continued Construction for Twenty Years

STONEBRIAR MALL Frisco, Texas

First Construction: 1990

CC built the Stonebriar Mall in Frisco, Texas back in 2000. With 1.6 million square feet of new construction retail, 1,000-space parking structure, and a 80,000 square foot AMC, the new mall at the time featured six major department store outlets, a sports arena, along and an NHL-sized professional ice rink.

GGP brought our team back in 2015 for preconstruction services and again in early 2017 for renovation and expansion of the enclosed mall. Today we are currently working on sitework, site utilities and earthwork along with a new shell building on a concrete podium and additional parking garages.

PARADISE CREEK National City, California

ur work on this project included all new construction of the multi-family building in National City, CA. Our team worked with Related and Community HousingWorks on two phases of this project. The first phase included two apartment buildings totaling 109 units and 170,000 square feet. There was also a fouracre public park with improvements and associated sitework and street improvements. The

second phase included two apartment buildings totaling 92 apartments, three and four stories respectively with podium parking. he multi-family component of the large mixed-use site takes this project to the next level. The two apartment buildings have retail tenant spaces on the first level, a parking garage on the second level and a podium on the third level upon which the three levels of apartments reside. The center of the buildingâ€™s podium level has open-air community spaces and a pool. The apartments range in size from 817 square feet to 1,696 square feet, each with high-end, commercial-grade windows and balcony doors. The interior finishes are also top-of-the-line, fine quality with hardwood floors and doors, two-tone wood and poliform cabinets, glass-top ranges and stainless-steel appliances, oversized closets and balconies overlooking the River Oaks District. The apartment buildings feature a large covered entryway with grand staircases inside, bringing a modern aesthetic to the living space and fitting in with the rest of the luxury mixed-use site. River Oaks District also features a 24/7 concierge desk and a close proximity to all the shopping and restaurants, the apartment gives its residents a feel of an upscale hotel, but a place they can call home.

The first floor consists largely of retail with a bit of residential mixed within. The second through fifth floors are exclusively residential, creating a vibrant mixed use environment for residents. The architectural style of the one to three-bedroom apartment units has an industrial, loft type nature. With poured and

polished concrete flooring, soaring ceilings and strict modern finishes, the building is a great fit for the trendy downtown area in San Diego. In addition to the 208 apartment units, the roof is fully accessible including several social spaces, barbeque pits, sunbathing areas and dining areas as well as an area for dog walking activities all surrounded by glass railings. The first floor also has a media room and workout space, reserved exclusively for the tenants, that opens up to a centralized interior outdoor patio space.

he River Oaks District is a high-design contemporary mixed-use development with retail, restaurants, entertainment, offices, parking garages and multifamily residential buildings located in central Houston near the Galleria. This substantial project covers 15 acres and is owned by the award-winning San Diego-based real estate development firm OliverMcMillan. Of the nine buildings, two are multi-family structures, one is an office building, one is a parking structure and the others are retail buildings with one featuring a premier cinema/ dining theater. Each building has luxury retail and fine-dining restaurant tenant spaces on the ground floor. The two multifamily buildings have retail tenant spaces on the first level, a parking garage on the second level and a podium on the third level upon which the three levels of apartments reside. The center of the buildingâ€™s podium level has open-air community spaces and a pool. The site has an additional six-level parking garage constructed of precast concrete with a sculptural cast-in-place helix ramp on one end. The garage structure holds 1100 spaces and makes a bridge connection to retail buildings located nearby. This utilitarian structure houses two cooling towers that serve the entire site.

he Collection at Riverpark is an outdoor family lifestyle center located along Highway 101 in West Ventura County that includes a wide LEED variety of shops, restaurants and entertainment venues designed for active shopping and entertainment use both day and night. VCCâ€™s portion of construction work includes the majority of the site work for over 62 acres, a 16-plex Century Theatres building and the construction of a half a million square feet of retail shell buildings. The long rows of retail space have varied facade designs amongst 11 connected buildings consisting of metal framing, mechanically-attached clad stone, plaster, fiber cement siding, trellises, sunshades and metal paneling. A special mixture of glass aggregate paving of varied colors decorates the majority of pedestrian walkways. Elaborately designed monumental signage and a few fountains are a part of the impressive hardscaping areas. Coordinating materials and varied facade designs amongst multiple buildings is an important architectural feature of this lifestyle retail center. The sitework and construction schedule presented a few challenges due to de-watering the site and specific regulations requested for the sum of the construction work. Coordination of a large retail center within a tight schedule was key on this project. The Collection at Riverpark is a certified LEED project by the USGBC.

he signature quality of the Pinnacle Hills Promenade is its beautiful array of architectural styles within an open-air shopping environment. The mall supports the surrounding community as a popular social theatre with a large selection of retail outlets, offices, restaurants, a movie theater, and a unique food court. VCC completed all new construction which included 680,000 square feet of retail, 50,000

square feet of theater space, 70,000 square feet of office space, and 180 condominiums. There are approximately five different architectural styles within one stretch of one hundred feet of building faรงade. As such, construction materials and types were organized per building style and latent design changes were met successfully without extending the opening date.

Fun Fact Atlantic Station was a new construction project consisting of 1.1 million sf on a 138-acre site. The city within a city includes 375,000 sf of residential, 805,000 sf of retail, 8,000 space parking deck and 7,500 sf of structural roadways.

n this project, VCC essentially built a city above a garage. At the time, the parking garage was the largest in the country with 8,000 spaces and 38-acres. Unlike most open-air retail and residential projects which have the bulk of their parking above ground, this parking was three-levels beneath the entire development. With 16 color-coded stairwells, the design of the garage took into careful consideration a patronâ€™s ability to find their way throughout the mixed-use center and get people to where they want to go. VCC organized communications and schedules with multiple developers and government agencies for this project and the entire development included two years of pre-construction. Atlantic Station holds over 300 special events, and over nine million visitors come here each year. The parking deck is essential in handling the capacity at Atlantic Station.

THE RIM San Antonio, Texas

ocated on the edge of San Antonio’s explosive northwest growth sector, The Rim is a mixed-use project that offers a mix of shopping, fine dining and entertainment. Partnering with Thomas Enterprises on this project, VCC has delivered multiple phases of construction spanning from 2006 to 2010. From the retail side, our team delivered tenant build-outs for some of the largest retailers in the country such as Dress Barn, TJ Maxx, Home

Goods, Staples, Best Buy and Dick’s Sporting Goods. Working closely with each tenant and the owner, we were able to deliver a space that worked for the tenant’s brand and was functional for the overall development. On later phases, our team brought more ground level retail to The Rim with office space on the second level, followed by a third level of parking garages. Residential townhomes were also a part of this last phase of work completed in 2010.

he Montelucia Resort is a newly built resort hotel set in the scenic Paradise Valley area. The lovely, sophisticated resort is inspired by Spain's Andalucia region, a combination of the Gothic and Moorish styles, using bold paint colors and even genuine, antique doors from the Spanish castles of centuries past. VCC worked very closely with the ownership and designers to create a property that has unmatched quality in the area and was built in a cost conscious manner.

THE CHANCELLOR HOTEL Fayetteville, Arkansas

CC and the Thrash Group had the pleasure of conducting a complete renovation on the Chancellor Hotel, formerly a Hilton, Radisson and Cosmopolitan branded hotel. The renovation entailed 210 luxury guest rooms, 14th and 15th floor suites with exclusive access on the top floor featuring the marquee â€œChancellor Suite,â€? a new lobby, bar and restaurant and a complete exterior refurbishment. New Elevators, MEP systems and all new FF&E installation were also part of the construction scope.

Extensive Hotel & Parking Garage Renovation Houston, Texas

CC completed extensive renovations on The Double Tree by Hilton, located across the street from notable The Galleria shopping mall in downtown Houston. The striking 26-floor tower was renovated to include a new mechanical system to replace the original built over thirty years ago. Other renovations included the parking areas, the pool and 380 updated guest rooms. The parking areas were modified, repaired and refreshed with new striping and new planters. The interior renovations for the guest rooms began at the top three floors and progressed down to the lowest level floors. Each room was equipped with new stainless steel appliances and contemporary finishes including stone-like ceramic tile tub surrounds and elaborate carpets. Coordination was a key on this hotel renovation as the hotel was sold-out each night well in advance.

his Archer Hotel is located in The Domain: a new, highly desirable lifestyle destination home to luxury residences, Class A office space, world-class hotels and a variety of outstanding dining and shopping opportunities. The Domain creates the perfect backdrop for the new, eight-story classy boutique hotel. The design inspiration for Archer Hotel comes from an eclectic mix of sources and will have a rustic â€œTexas chicâ€? theme with local touches.

he Cinemex located on the 4th floor of the Brickell City Centre is the first Cinemex theater in the U.S. With over 35,000 feet, this theater includes 10 screens, reclining seats, laser projectors with Dolby Atmos sound, and a 3D theater. The theater also offers its guests 2 bars and a full restaurant and kitchen, both accessed from a custom built circular staircase.

tand Up Live is a 600-seat comedy club in downtown Phoenix’s CityScape - a threeblock, $900 million cluster of shops, offices and restaurants. The comedy club also boasts a martini bar and restaurant. Stand Up Live was designed to have a supper club feel with genuine leather booths and high quality food. The venue also has an in-house studio allowing it to produce original television specials.

dams Dairy Landing is a premier power center in Blue Springs, MO. The existing structure was a 600,000 sf development on 65 acres. Our team constructed 7 new buildings to the development, two tilt up and four conventional steel. At a total of 102,000 sf, we also completed all hardscape for the new retail structures. All

existing businesses remained open during our construction and we coordinated with them with regards to parking and timing of work to cause little to no disruption for their business. Gateway Shopping Center is located at the heart of the Golden Triangle and features more than 500,000 square feet of prime retail space. For the first phase, we were tasked with partial demolition of vacant tenant space, demo of existing interior shell and the subsequent shell

build-out for a Saks 5th Avenue, an anchor for the mall. This phase also included over 50,000 square feet of renovation to tenant spaces. With installation of a new faรงade for the tower, upgrades to the exterior finishes and storefronts, new landscaping and lighting, new common area seating, and renovations to the restrooms, The Gateway Shopping Center received a full makeover.

Biggest IKEA in the Country

IKEA

Burbank, California

CC has completed the largest IKEA to date in the United States. Founded in Sweden in 1943, IKEA is the worldâ€™s largest furniture retailer specializing in ready-to-assemble furniture and home accessories. The Burbank location was the first IKEA store in California when it opened in 1990. Our work consisted of approximately 550,000 square feet of demolition. The demolition on the project specifically included removal of 27 existing build-

ings while coordinating with open businesses. Following demolition was the new construction of 470,000 sf of retail space, on a 23-acre site. Our expansion of this IKEA location allows the store to have a larger quantity of nearly 10,000 exclusively designed items, 50 room settings, three model home interiors, a supervised childrenâ€™s play area, and a larger restaurant serving Swedish specialties.

his Dick’s Sporting Goods store located within the trendy Palms at Town & Country in Miami, Florida is just one of the many Dick’s our team has completed across the country. The exterior finish materials include traditional and synthetic stucco with a clay tile roof. The store is located on the first floor with offices on the mezzanine. The interior is large enough for patrons to practice golf swings and to try out bows at an archery range. The building has an open ceiling structure and vinyl flooring. Minor demolition work and added structural support was done to the shared wall between the wine shop and the new Dick’s Sporting Goods. The existing, exterior stucco wall was then furred out and covered with fresh gypsum board. Site utilities were constructed to join the store’s utility lines. During the course of the project, there were heavy rains for 25 consecutive days; still the project was completed on-schedule despite its weather challenges.

BASS PRO SHOPS Outdoor World

WINNING A

signature hunting and fishing retail venue, Bass Pro Shops opened up a new store in a suburban area of Little Rock, Arkansas. The front of the store is marked by a fishing pond that has a bridge over it leading directly into the front door of the store. The 10,000 gallon, fish-stocked aquarium inside is impressively grand with a 40-foot tall faux-rock structure and a cascading waterfall. Site utilities and the building’s foundation pad were set prior to the start of construction. The building’s structure consists of tilt-up concrete panels with a combined flat and pitched, shingled roof. The exterior finishes include a skim-coated stucco on the concrete panels, wood and stone siding, and large log structures for the entrance and exit. The extent of the sitework included curbs, gutters and asphalt paving. Natural sunlight floods into the interior space by a clerestory that runs down the middle of the building at approximately 50 feet high. Many of the store’s materials were salvaged and repurposed into custom-looking, rustic elements. VCC turned over the project to Bass Pro Shops for merchandise stocking four weeks ahead of schedule and the project punch list was completed prior to the building being opened to the public. This project received a 2015 Excellence in Construction Award from ABC Arkansas!

After relocating parking areas and athletic fields, this new building brings all student athletic services together under one roof. Athletes have access to private dining halls, tutor rooms, computer rooms, conference rooms, offices, open study areas, a multipurpose room and a 150-seat auditorium close to the practice and game facilities. 184

The Jerry & Gene Jones Family Student-Athlete Success Center has a dramatic entry element with a second-story balcony overlooking the first level. The University selected high quality interior finish materials. Premium wood paneling provides a backdrop for the Athletic Hall of Fame plaques. LEED Silver is now a university-wide construction building standard. Sustainable exterior features include a vegetated roof over part of the building.

he Beckley Intermodal Gateway is an avant-garde civic center. Made possible with federal funding, the center replaced a banal asphalt parking lot with a 351-space parking garage that serves many civic functions and provides an increase in centralized downtown parking. The top level of the structure is an outdoor plaza that is utilized for concerts, farmers' markets and other similar civic activities. Over 16,000 yards of mass rock were removed through rock blasting and extraction. Gaining site access was difficult due to the amount of central downtown vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Developing the site and building on a rocky, steep terrain even through the snowy, frozen winter months was a key challenge to overcome on this project. The project achieved LEED Silver certification with environmentally friendly strategies such as bioswales for stormwater retention and native landscaping for reducing the need for irrigation.

A Warm Welcome for CTC Students

CENTRAL TEXAS COLLEGE STUDENT CENTER Killeen, Texas

he new Student Center for Central Texas College is designed to supplement and enliven social activities for the students, professors and staff on campus. The new student union building will be connected to the existing, much smaller, 40-year old student union building via a new pedestrian mall. As the welcoming building on campus, the exterior and interior finishes present the campus favorably to new and prospective students and their families.

The new student center building consists of brick, stucco, cast stone, clay tile roof and unique windows. The interior include highquality carpets, tile, paints, wall coverings and terrazzo flooring. The facility contains classrooms, cooking kitchens, a student dining area, an executive dining room, book store and conference rooms that can serve up to 450 people. In the middle of campus, construction is planned around pedestrian traffic and classes in session.

LOUISIANA SPORTS HALL OF FAME Natchitoches, Louisiana

he Louisiana State Museum and Sports Hall of Fame is a notable, contemporary museum. The building has exhibition spaces, an outdoor terrace, several meeting rooms, and offices in addition to an exceptional entrance and atrium. Located in Natchitoches, the museum has a phenomenal design that was both complicated and labor-intensive to construct.The museumâ€™s structure consists of a complex system of steel

frames that accommodate the curvilinear nature of the buildingâ€™s design. Natural light from the custom, centralized skylight floods through the entire building from the top floor down through the atrium. The metal louvers on the building each have their own unique curvature and position that work together to create a wavy, moving mirage viewed as pedestrians and traffic pass by the building.

CTC NURSING CENTER Central Texas College Killeen, Texas

he new medical/business style classroom building houses a nursing educational facility for CTC, along with a connected nursing classroom faLEED cility for Tarleton State University, and a hands-on learning metroplex simulation hospital. Granted LEED certification, the building’s sustainable features include water efficient (drought tolerant) landscaping features within the parking lots, a building recycling program, an energy efficient envelope, construction waste management and green power investments. CTC’s nursing building’s scope includes eight classrooms, eight hospital simulation labs including an emergency room, ICU, basic care, pediatric, home care, operating room, and nearly three dozen faculty offices. Tarleton’s nursing building includes 11 classrooms, another nearly three dozen faculty offices, and an ROTC suite. A rather large lobby and common area on the first and second levels of the building unite the three different functions of the overall building. The long, two-story stucco and brick building has an elegant facade that consists of repetitive arched windows and brick inlay patterns. Higher-end interior finishes include fabric wall paneling, acoustical floating ceiling clouds, and decorative iron railings. Installing intricate medical technologies for the classrooms and hospital rooms while following strict LEED regulations and its associated paperwork were keys to this project’s construction success.

WASHINGTON COUNTY COURTHOUSE PARKING DECK Fayetteville, Arkansas

n downtown Fayetteville, Arkansas, Washington County commissioned the removal of an existing parking garage and its replacement with a new updated double parking deck for the County Courthouse. Adjacent to the Courthouse, the new parking deck provided 303 new spaces. The structural piers were designed to support the first two levels as well as two additional levels planned for a future construction phase.

The downtown construction site and staging area are both constrained on three sides by the Courthouse, an attorneyâ€™s office and a church building. Protective materials were used for pedestrian safety. While digging for the new foundations and pier supports, the construction team discovered extensive amounts of rock as dense as 26 PSI. Quickly addressing the extra time for rock excavation while keeping on schedule was key on this project.

A prime example is VCC’s use of three types of software: BIM, Primavera, and VCC’s own home-grown software, Endeavour. VCC’s teams have successfully integrated all three types for the benefit of customers; this is an important selling tool for prospective clients, and the integration of these types of software means that VCC is able to carefully examine issues that might surface in the future. This risk mitigation means heading off potential problems before they even come to pass. Customers can be shown Building Information Modeling (BIM), which is a process that allows for the generation and management of digital representations of the physical and functional characteristics of places. These digital models also provide valuable information to guide decision-making for construction projects, from the earliest conceptual phase onward. The representations can even be experienced through virtual reality or augmented reality, which is the blended experience of virtual reality with real human interaction. VCC utilizes Endeavour, a complete construction management solution program. This comprehensive software offers the control and flexibility to make business and workflow changes without limitations. Totally customizable, it can also be integrated with Primavera, and the software’s artificial intelligence can utilize predictive analysis to determine unforeseen issues to serve project planning and risk management. Post Acute Rehab Hospital

OVERLAND PARK REHABILITATION HOSPITAL Overland Park, Kansas

he new Overland Park, Kansas branch of the Post Acute Rehabilitation Hospital is located in a suburban area just south of Kansas City. The two-story rehabilitation facility has offices and exam rooms on the first floor and patient rooms on the second floor. The building has a steel structure with a brick faรงade, aluminum canopies over the entrances, a flat membrane roof and decorative trellis structures on the front, side and back of the building. Each patient room has medical gas equipment, individual bath and shower facilities, and bariatric lifts installed. Other therapy

equipment and facilities within the building include a hydrotherapy pool, a treadmill in the pool and a rehabilitation gym. The building has a full-service kitchen. The project included all the sitework such as grading, installing a walking path, asphalt, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, grass, pavers and gravel. The building is supported by a comprehensive geopier system located underneath the spread footing foundation. The landscaping conforms to green, sustainable standards required by the municipality.

ARKANSAS CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL NUTRITION CENTER (ACNC) AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE (ACHRI) New Construction + Renovation Little Rock, Arkansas

CC constructed a totally new facility and expanded another for one of the largest pediatric medical centers in the United States. The Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center (ACNC) added a new floor with four large laboratory spaces, office and conference areas, and renovated other floors to accommodate new functions, and created a separate facility for the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Research Institute (ACHRI). This renovation created highly specialized laboratory spaces, with such features as shielded, soundproof recording rooms for neurological research, airtight door closures, and special epoxy coatings on all surfaces. To complicate an already difficult project, all medical gases and ventilation systems were connected to the existing systems while in operation; because of ongoing research and procedures, it was impossible to shut down during construction. As well as interior remodeling, the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Research Institute was tied into the existing Research facility, and into the new floor of the Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center. All this was completed in the overcrowded, tight quarters of a working hospital.

From fire codes and inventory control, to site access issues, the VCC team has the experience and knows what it takes to complete these projects efficiently and effectively. Our team works closely with the owner and design teams in the pre-construction process to understand and identify any potential challenges and locate the best possible flow and setup during construction.

Both our office and field staff are experienced in this type of construction so they know the planning it takes to get the logistics right in order to save time and money. Itâ€™s about building smart, and we have the team to get the job done. Here is a closer look at some of our warehouse construction.

CUBESMART SELF STORAGE The Woodlands, Texas

ut of room? No need to panic, because self-storage construction is booming in the industry. And The Woodlands, Texas is no different. This 28,000 acre master-planned community just outside of Houston has seen immense growth in this sector. Some argue that the boom is due to growing populations, the trend to downsize and live in apartment spaces, and good returns. Whatever the reason, this CubeSmart project, with climate control, diverse space options, and competitive prices, is in a

prime location in The Woodlands and offers a necessity to the residents there. The project offers 103,000 square feet of storage, with a total of two storage facilities. The one facility is a three-story metal building, while the other is a stand alone single-story storage complex. VCC completed all new construction of this self-storage project including all associated sitework.

A New Location to Operate More Efficiently

PALO ALTO SUPPORT SERVICE CENTER Brownsville, Texas

unctional, nice, yet understated, these new maintenance and warehouse buildings are now all located within the same area and have state-of-the-art features to service vehicles and to store important paper documents. There are four buildings in total: records, central warehouse, maintenance, and shops. In addition, two small security posts and a fueling station support the functions and security of the entire site. The overall construction amongst

the various buildings is metal prefabrication with masonry wainscoting. Each building, other than the maintenance building, has a small masonry office building attached to one side. The records building has a storage vault and is protected by extra fire protection systems. The shops building includes two and four post vehicle lifts, a series of overhead doors, a fuel storage tank system, and vehicle wash bays.

With over 48,000 square feet of steel construction, our team completed all new construction of this warehouse on an eightmonth schedule.

n March 28, 2017 we celebrated alongside the entire team the groundbreaking for Grandscape, a 433-acre mixed-use project in The Colony, TX. This lifestyle center includes a restaurant district, a hotel and spa, a luxury movie theater, a 10 to 12-story apartment tower, an office building, and other large-scale entertainment venues. With features such as free high-speed Wi-Fi, digital signage and wayfinding, online reservations, parking assistance and a Grandscape app that offers concierge services, coupons, loyalty programs, games & events, Grandscape will offer an exciting technology-driven customer experience. So far Nebraska Furniture Mart, Scheels All Sports, Galaxy Theatres, Thirsty Lion Gastropub, and Twigs Bistro & Martini bar have committed to space at the project.

THE SONO COLLECTION Norwalk, Connecticut

CC is joint-venturing with KBE Building Corporation on all new construction of this enclosed mall. The SoNo Collection, developed by GGP, will be a 700,000+ square foot retail center in Norwalk, Connecticut. This premier shopping destination, with Nordstrom and Bloomingdales as the two major department store anchors and over 100 small shop retailers and restaurants, is ultimately focused on bringing shopping and the community together. This project also

includes the filigree wideslad method, a unique and intricate system. With its location right off of I-95, the development will include pedestrian and bike-friendly access and vibrant streetscape to merge the community together. ur 30th year anniversary has been an important milestone for VCC. It is a testament to our employees, our commitment to our clients, and our love of all things construction. However none of our successes would be possible if it weren’t for our employees, our clients and our subcontractors who have partnered with us and believed in VCC to get the job done. It is especially important for us to be able to open our doors each day so we can continue to serve you. This anniversary is especially important to us because it reminds us that we can celebrate the triumphs, as well as weather the storms, and continue to be successful even in hard times. We wanted to make this 30th year of VCC special by participating in a number events that speak to us as a company and our values. For one, each of our nine offices

held local get-togethers for our clients and trade partners in their region in March, our anniversary month. This gave us an opportunity to say “THANK YOU” to the people who give us the opportunity to be in this business. And we didn’t stop here— throughout the year we were committed to using our social media platform to call attention to our successes throughout our 30 years in the business, and take a walk down memory lane to share how our company has grown, and continues to grow. We also launched our "30 Acts of Kindness Campaign” where each of our offices pledged to give back and volunteer in their communities throughout the year. By the end of the year, we participated in 30+ charitable events. Giving back is the core of our company and our employees embraced this challenge and delivered.
