Varg was born in the Swedish nature, between the mountain and the sea. A dream of functional and inspirational clothing for all of life’s adventures was formed by a strong love for the wilderness.
With previous experience in elite sailing, snowboarding, and alpine skiing, we, the founders of Vargkläder, have been tested by extreme weather conditions and have many years on both mountains and oceans. We know what kind of clothes an active lifestyle demands. One thing we’ve been missing are garments which are functional, yet simultaneously have that little extra something, a special detail, a beautiful fabric, a nice colour or a unique design.
We wanted to create personal and special products where practical and comfortable meet playfulness and edge. We found inspiration in Scandinavian design and handicraft, and by adding that to the outdoor and lifestyle world, we got something unique and special: our brand Varg.
Our love for nature requires our participation in the fight to preserve it. Therefore, we constantly strive to make environmentally friendly choices for our products. We use recycled fibres and work with high quality that lasts over time.

Our Design Philosopy
We work hard on reducing our footprint on nature. The sustainability theme is our biggest task overall. We love our nature, and we want to create products that have as little impact on the environment as possible. We are not without fault, but we are clear that it is one of our most important foundation stones.
We are proud that as a small brand we are able to deliver the majority of products in recycled fibre, in fact many consist of 100% recycled fiber. We continuously review the development of new fibres, materials and processes and the impact they have on nature.
When we develop products, we choose materials and production with care. Here are some of our main focus areas:
• Our suppliers are required to follow EU regulations regarding hazardous and banned substances, as well as possess essential environmental certifications.
• We prioritize the use of recycled fibers, bluesign® materials, leftover materials, and other eco-friendly alternatives with lower carbon footprints.
• All materials must meet our functional requirements while offering comfort and style.
• We insist on high-quality fabrics throughout our product range to ensure that our products have a long life cycle.
• We offer second life solutions for Varg products.
• To ensure proximity to our main market, we produce over half of our products in Europe. For items manufactured in Asia, we opt for shipping by boat or train and exclusively collaborate with factories that maintain excellent working conditions.
• Our goal is to develop products that suit different aspects of life rather than just one specific activity. We strive to design versatile and durable products.

Product Features
Recycled
One way of reducing the impact on the environment is to make products out of recycled fabrics. We work with high quality fabrics from suppliers that work hard with sustainability issues.
Down
Of all insulations, down will give you the greatest warmth for the least weight. Its ability to breathe avoids the clamminess issues that are sometimes felt with synthetics. The down in Varg’s products is a by-product from the food industry and is RDS certified (Responsible Down Standard).
Wool
Wool fibre follows changes in body temperature, keeping you warm when needed and cool when the weather is hot. The natural fibre is also odour resistant, which means less washing and a product that stays fresh. Our recycled wool from Italy is a favourite quality among Varg consumers.
Waterproof
Varg’s waterproof jackets consist of an outer fabric and a membrane, sometimes two layers or three layers. The jacket has taped seams. The waterproof rating varies in different models, but we rarely use less than 10,000 mm.
Breathable
Fabric in this product absorbs and releases moisture quickly, thus allowing the material to ”breathe”. A breathable fabric follows the body’s thermostat.
Water Resistant
Some of our jackets don’t need to be fully waterproof, but it’s nice that the jacket can take a bit of rain. The outer fabric is treated with a DWR, durable water repellent. The water repellent (DWR) we use is PFOS and PFOA free.
Wind Protecting
Fabrics and insulation in this product will keep you warm in windy conditions. When the wind blows the cooling effect is significantly higher compared to calm weather.
Organic Cotton
Organic Cotton is grown in an environment where no pesticides, chemical fertilizers or herbicides have been used for a minimum of three years. The dyeing and finishing of organic cottons also follow a strict procedure for chemical use in processing, eliminating all materials harmful to the body and the environment.
Soft to Skin
Are you sensitive to wool? Then maybe you like our high quality recycled polyester base layers, or our soft organic cotton products. Both materials are very soft and comfortable against the skin.
bluesign®
The bluesign® system aims for solutions for sustainable textile production by eliminating harmful substances in each step of the supply chain, and approving chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, the workers, and customers.

Our Footprint & Sustainability
The sustainability theme is overall our biggest task. We love our nature and we want to create products that have as little impact on the environment as possible. We are not without faults but we are clear that it is one of our most important foundation stones.
We are proud that as a small brand we are able to deliver the majority of products in recycled fiber, in fact many consist of 100% recycled fiber. We continuously review the development of new fibers, materials and processes and hope to be able to deliver completely circular products in the long term.
Environmental Certifications
Our Materials
Recycled polyester comes from PET bottles or other polyester materials. The process of making recycled polyester results in less carbon dioxide emissions and less water is used compared to virgin polyester.
Recycled nylon comes from fishing nets, spills from the textile industry and/or other nylon products like carpets.
We always make sure that our recycled polyester or nylon is certificated. GRS certificate stands for Global Recycled Standard.
Many of Varg wool products are made of recycled wool. The recycled wool is left over materials from production or old garments that have been respun into new material. The environmental benefits when using recycled wool are reduced use of water, energy and chemicals and we also reduce the amount of waste.
Our recycled wool pile has a mix of synthetic spun into the yarn to make the material a bit stronger. Our recycled wool pile is made in Italy and our producer are certificated with Oeko-Tex standard 100, Global recycled standard GRS, and has a declaration for mulesing-free wool.
The 100% merino wool we use in base layers is Woolmark certificated, high quality wool and mulesingfree.
Tencel® (lyocell) in combination with Merino wool is a fantastic match! This fabric is super soft with almost a silk feeling but still offers warmth and breathability. The fabric is natural odor resistant resulting in less laundries.
Tencel ® is based on eucalyptus wood pulp produced in a process that are both circular, chemical free and overall sustainable.
Organic cotton requires 70% less water and 60% less energy. Also organic cotton uses significantly less chemicals. We also find it very important to control the dying process. Our producers have the standard Oeko-Tex certificate.
