“Love is not about how much you say ‘I love you’, but how much you can prove that it’s true love.”

Editor’s Note The entertainment industry has come into its own. Twenty years after the revolution began with Nollywood, every sub-sector of the industry has fanned out; providing superlative income for a demography that would have been restive otherwise. Today, Nollywood is the third largest movie industry in the world. What phenomenal growth for a sector that was once vilified for harbouring dropouts and the unserious. The bankable industry is not only making six digits, it is also garnering garlands along the way. The AMAA is Africa’s version of the Grammy and, for this year, Nigeria alone has five nominees. Great movies that were produced during the year got us a place amongst the continent’s best of the best. Ahead of her trip to South Africa, Pamela Echemunor speaks with the nominees. Go to pp. 8-11. On our fashion pages, we continue our revelations on the “6 Secrets of Style” and conclude with ideas on what to buy now. See Hot Buys Now - pp. 6-7. Our regulars, as usual, have put in their best and, as always, it is my pleasure packaging this for your reading enjoyment.

Known as “the royal cloth,” velvet came into fashion centuries ago on the backs of kings, queens and their noble courts. So, it only makes sense that this Victorian trend would be anchored by a velvet shoe. On the runway, Alberta Ferretti and Dolce & Gabbana sent out embellished high heels festooned with buckles, flowers, brooches and the like.

eteran Actor and quintessential broadcaster, Sadiq Daba, is best known for his well interpreted character in the 70’s television series, Cockcrow at Dawn, which aired on NTA. He is a graduate of Mass Communication from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He is also widely travelled and prides himself on being more of a broadcaster than an actor. The seasoned actor recently grasped our attention when he played Waziri in the acclaimed October One film directed by Kunle Afolayan. This role earned the actor a nomination as “Best Actor”, at the African Movie Academy Awards.

A

s preparations for the prestigious African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) gets underway, the Nollywood industry deserves a standing ovation for its most recent nominee listings. Director and actor, Kunle Afolayan’s October 1 film alone gained up to eight nominations. Also, actor, director and comedian AY Makun’s 30 Days in Atlanta was nominated for Best Comedy film. Other nominees include; O.C Ukeje, Ini Edo, Demola Adedoyin and Sadiq Daba for various nominee divisions. The event which is scheduled for the 26th of September, 2015, in South Africa promises to be fresh and dynamic, as entertainers from all over the world will be in attendance. Here are the nominees.

How was your experience working on the set of October 1? The October 1 film had such a beautiful script, fantastic actors and crew. It was a pleasure working on that set, very interesting too. Congratulations on your AMAA nomination as Best actor in a leading role, for the movie October Onew. How does it make you feel? Best Actor! Wow!! I Feel great, on top of the world. What do you think should be done to improve the state of the Nollywood Industry? The one problem I have with Nollywood is scripting. Stories are most times, mundane with no substance; pedestrian and slapstick. This is in no

way applicable to all. There are a selected few who know their onions, and it’s a dream to work with such people. Directing also calls for lots and lots of improvement, more professionalism. Acting is almost, same, same. What we have now, are not actors in the true sense of the word but phony’s who just gatecrashed in because, there is nothing else to do. They find acting a shortcut to fame. What project(s) are you working on at the moment? I’m presently on the set of Hotel Majestic an MNET production for DSTV. What do you think about the AMAA Awards? AMAA has gone beyond leaps and bounds. This is our very own Oscars and as for the nomination, for me, I consider as winning.

O.C Ukeje I

t’s been a busy couple of years for Lagos born actor O.C Ukeje, who got married just last year and has been seen in quite a number of movies after that. The youthful actor’s rise to fame came after winning the Amstel Malta Box Office reality TV show in 2006. He made his acting debut in 2008 in a movie called White Waters, where he starred alongside Rita Dominic and seasoned actress ,Joke Silva. That same year, he won his first African Movie Academy Award and City People’s Award. His talent has earned him lead roles in prominent movies, working alongside top actors and actresses in the Nollywood and Hollywood industry. He has also been nominated for his role in the movie Love or Something like that as the Best Actor in a supporting role.

Congratulations on being nominated yet again for the AMAA Awards, how does this make you feel? I feel great to be nominated under the category of Best actor in a supporting role from the movie Love or Something like that. Your one year wedding anniversary comes up soon, how does it feel being a married man? On Saturday November 8, 2014, I walked down the aisle with my beautiful wife Ibukun and it’s been a blissful journey so far. The good thing, is she always knew this is what I really want to do and she has been supportive. We both have a good understanding of what we do, and there is no tension of any sort as regards our careers. I am a happy man and I intend to stay like this for the rest of my life. I think my wife has made an honest man out of me. We spoke about the distance between us before we got married. It is something that must be addressed. I do my best to stay faithful to the one that I decided to remain faithful to for the rest of my life. We do our best to stay in

8

/ September 13, 2015

touch with each other every day so that we would know what we are up to. We make sure we stay in constant touch with each other. How do you joggle your busy career with your personal life? Basically, I just try to give my best in whatever I am doing without letting one affect the other. What project are you working on at the moment? Well, I would say you all should be on the lookout. (Laughs) What do you feel about the AMAA Awards? For about10 years now, AMAA has been consistent in rewarding the best in African movie and that is a good record. Kudos, to the organizers. Ayodeji Richard Makun

his indigene of Akwa Ibom State is a graduate of Theatre Arts (Diploma) and English Language from the University of Uyo and University of Calabar, Cross Rivers State respectively. The talented, award-winning actress, and director made her acting debut 15 years ago, when she accompanied a friend for a movie audition in 2000. Her life took a dramatic turn, as she worked her way to the top from then on. She has since then featured in over 200 movies and won various awards. Her most recent achievement is getting nominated for Best Actress in a leading Role at this year’s AMAA’s.

A

ctor and comedian, Ayodeji Makun, also known as A.Y, is a Theatre Arts graduate from the Delta State University Abraka. A.Y came into the spotlight after working as an assistant and events manager to comedian, Alibaba. He went on to act and direct a sitcom called AY’s Crib, working with actors Alex Ekubo and Buchi Franklin. When he’s not directing or acting, this entrepreneur, runs several business ventures. His most recent production 30 Days in Atlanta grossed millions in the box office and has been nominated for Best Comedy Film at the AMAAs.

Would you say you were well compensated financially for your efforts after the film was released? It is not news that piracy has been a scourge that has rendered many Nigerian entertainers very little or nothing to show as reward for their hard work. A movie like 30 days in Atlanta could yield more but we thank God. What do you think about the AMAA Awards? AMAA recognizes the excellence professionals bring into the African film industry and in doing this it unites the continent through arts and culture. Great initiative I must say. What should we expect from you in the nearest future? I hope for greater projects, more recognition, and more awards.

erebral actor, Demola Adedoyin, holds a degree in Business Administration and Masters in Media and Communication from the London Metropolitan University. With a passion for the arts, he went on to study Film Directing at the Central Film School, London. Qualified, he came back to his home country and warmed his way into our hearts with his role in “October One”, getting his first AMAA nomination for Best Young/Promising actor.

Is October 1 your first major film? Yes definitely the first major one. I’d previously starred in a British short film and a TV show in Nigeria before the opportunity to be in October 1. Congratulations on being nominated for the AMAA Awards, how does this make you feel? Well I feel good because it’s what everyone wants really isn’t it? To be recognized for work you did that affected more people than you even know. It’s encouraging for me personally and also on an African level it’s a sign of progress for the whole industry. People are being reached out to across Africa in recognition of their work. Did you encounter any challenges during the filming process? In a sense, I did, because everyone else was way more experienced than I. I had to focus on building my character which was quite complicated, and also following the professional protocols of being on a film set, like the schedules, the rehearsals and the stunt preparations. After a short while, I caught on. I’m a very fast learner.

How does it feel for your film, 30 Days in Atlanta to be nominated for the AMAA Awards? This is a good feeling most definitely. I feel happy that it was something I set out to do and it turned out great. I was just sitting one day and my wife said, “You’ve been doing your stand-up comedy but you are a Theatre Arts graduate and you majored in directing. Why don’t you think of something in line with that discipline and do a movie?” That was what actually gave birth to ‘30 Days in Atlanta’. I feel good that it’s one movie that a lot of people in Nigeria really love. I feel elated knowing that it’s a movie doing pretty well at the cinemas and being rated as number one at the moment. It’s still the most watched movie ever at the Nigerian cinemas. I am glad for the nomination in the best comedy film category. What challenges did you encounter filming in another country? Every project has its own challenge. When we set out to do the movie, we said we wanted to achieve amalgamation of two industries, Hollywood and Nollywood and that was it. For me, it’s not just about going to America and you want to take a known actor here to play a role an American actor should play. Then the story wouldn’t have been properly told. It’s a question of negotiation, relationship and some other things that are part of the movie. We had crew members locally and internationally to make work easier and faster.

Congratulations on your Best Actress nomination, how does this make you feel? Thank you very much, it feels great when one’s hard work is recognized. You have been in the industry for over a decade now, what changes do you think can be made to create a better industry? Oh lots! I feel the right infrastructure needs to be put in place. You ventured into producing recently, how has it been for you behind the camera? To tell you the truth, it feels the same, because it is still within the same line of work, which is movie making and it’s something I have a passion for.

What projects are you working on at the moment? At the moment I have a lot on my plate. There is so much going on to put into words. I have great plans in motion which I can’t reveal (laughs). Aside from entertainment, I have recently become an entrepreneur. You’ll hear all about it in due time. What do you think about the AMAA Awards? AMAA came in and changed the face of Nigerian and African awards and has since remained a beacon of hope and growth in the African entertainment industry. It is a real game changer and it makes me proud to say they have done well.

What projects are you working on at the moment? I just starred in a film called Couple of Days oming out within the next two months. I also directed a promotional film for a luxury company, titled Sujimoto Lifestyles which will double as a film and a promotional work for them. I got to direct a fellow actor, one of the leaders in the industry. I’m currently not permitted to discuss two other projects as we are in Pre-production stage as at now. What do you think about the AMAA Awards? AMAA is known to be one of the film Award bodies within Africa that has a great amount of credibility and status. There is an obvious effort to reach for the best and brightest and show the whole world their work. It’s a true privilege to be ‘spotted’ by AMAA at this time in our industry’s history. ctor and comedian, Ayodeji Makun, also known as A.Y, is a Theatre Arts graduate from the Delta State University Abraka.

BEFORE YOU SAY ‘I DO’ MARRIAGE is an agreement between a man and a woman, to go beyond just being friends and becoming husband and wife in so doing, they take certain vows before witnesses to love one another, to cherish one another and to stay together through sickness and health, for better and for worse. This agreement includes; sexual faithfulness and a promise that each person will do what they can to make the other one happy. This agreement between man and woman, takes the form of a covenant between not only the couple, but God (who instituted marriage) in the first place. Thus, many marriages are performed within the rites of various churches and religious institutions. Legally, marriage is a binding contract between two parties that join their possessions, income and lives. In some countries like Nigeria, the man is expected by Law to be one hundred percent financially responsible in the marriage. This is always stated by the registrar (at the registry) to the couple during their registry wedding. Marriage is recognized by the state; dissolving the contract can only happen through the legal process of divorce. According to God’s plan, marriage is the avenue by which children are born; through marriage children have a stable mother and father. The family unit, the

relationship between parents and children, is based on marriage relationship. Now, for a lot of single women out there who believe that they are advanced in age and say they just want to have sex with someone and have a child of their own if marriage doesn’t happen, you just might still be missing the point. And that is the fact that the avenue for having children is not sex but marriage; a good marriage which provides a stable mother and father for the children. And this is essential for healthy development of children. There are many men and women today who have provided their children with different fathers and mothers as they keep moving from one marriage to another; not caring what damage this could cause in the lives of

Drink Mainly Water Sports or energy drink, fruit smoothie, or a bottle of soft drink — each serving contains about 100 calories or more. Yet, these beverages don’t satisfy you the way 100 calories of food does, so they’re a waste. Other liquids may be high in sodium and carbohydrates, which trick your body into retaining water, puffing you out.Water, on the other hand, has zero calories and carbs and little to no sodium, making it the perfect slim-down drink. And strangely, it actually helps flush out excess water weight as well as jump-starts your metabolism. If it’s just too boring, add lemon wedges or mint leaves. There are many reasons why it is important to drink water, especially if you want a quick weight loss: • Initial weight loss is largely due to loss of water, and you need to drink an adequate amount of water in order to avoid dehydration. • The process of burning calories requires an adequate supply of water in order to function efficiently; dehydration slows down the fat-burning process. • Burning calories creates toxins (think of the exhaust coming out of your car), and water plays a vital role in flushing them out of your body. • Dehydration causes a reduction in blood volume; a reduction in blood volume causes a reduction in the supply of oxygen to your muscles; and a reduction in the supply of oxygen to your muscles can make you feel tired. • Water helps maintain muscle tone by assisting muscles in their ability to contract, and it lubricates your joints. Proper hydration can help reduce muscle and joint soreness when exercising.

children who were not designed originally by God to be nurtured in such conditions. Maybe at this point, you can understand why God hates divorce. God does not hate divorce because He hates you the divorcée; He hates divorce because, it has the potential to create more problems than solve problems! That’s why I always encourage anyone considering divorce to always seek professional counselling first. And, it doesn’t have to be you and your spouse going for counselling together at the beginning. It can start with you, the one considering divorce, while your spouse may join later. If you are divorced already, counselling is also essential, not necessarily for the purpose of finding a new partner but to get your own life together after your divorce. I will like to advise, though, that before you get married, you should understand certain states of being and situation which may help you to eventually navigate the institution of marriage well. These are: MATURITY: The action or process of maturing. If you are afraid of growing up, most especially because of changes that go with it, then don’t consider marriage yet even if you are 50 years old! As a match maker, when I ask some clients what kind of partners they want for a relationship that can lead to marriage, their answers say so much about their level of maturity. Some of them think that they are still children looking for fine toys to show off and play with or sand in the sea shore to build castles that water eventually washes away! You need to be committed to growing up because, in marriage, you will come face to face with the fact that your partner will be different from you. TO BE CONTINUED NEXT WEEK…

When you drink enough water, your urine will usually be pale yellow, though vitamin supplements and antibiotics can discolor it. On the other hand, you shouldn’t need to run to the bathroom too frequently. When in doubt, drink a little more. Do not worry that drinking water will give your body a bloated look. There are a number of causes of water retention, including consuming too much salt. But drinking water is not one of them. It is possible to harm yourself by drinking too much water, but it takes quite an effort. Either through obsessivecompulsive behavior or extended athletic activity, drinking large amounts of water can dilute the electrolytes (sodium and potassium) in your blood to the point that it interferes with brain, heart and muscle function. Athletes compound the problem with the loss of sodium (salt) through sweating, but can drink electrolyte replacement drinks.

FROM THE DESK OF PRINCESS KATHY:

• A healthy (weight loss) diet includes a good amount of fiber. But while fiber is normally helpful to your digestive system, without adequate fluids, it can cause constipation instead of helping to eliminate it. • Drinking water with a meal may make you feel full sooner and therefore satisfied eating less. Note, however, that drinking water alone may not have this effect. In order to feel satiated (not hungry), our bodies need bulk, calories and nutrients.

HOW MUCH WATER SHOULD I DRINK? You have probably heard that you should drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day. How much water you actually need depends on your weight, level of activity, the temperature and humidity of your environment, and your diet. Your diet makes a difference because if you eat plenty of water-dense foods like fruits and vegetables your need to drink water will be diminished. You can do some research and use a calculator and

1. Try replacing a single meal with pure water. If you have never fasted, take small steps to prepare your body for the challenge of fasting. 2. Consider skipping lunch and just drinking plan water or add juice of fresh lemon. 3. Try a 24-hour water fast. Prepare for 7 days before a 24-hour fast. Start by removing foods and drinks high in sugar, fat, and caffeine 7 days before you intend to begin your water fast. 4. Replace unhealthy foods with lean proteins, salads, and fresh produce. Increase your water intake each day until you are comfortable consuming at least a halfgallon each day. 5. Consider taking herbal supplements to prevent water intoxication. (PLEASE SEEK EXPERT CARE FOR THIS) 6. Sip OOLONG TEA for breakfast and for lunch. Any time you feel discomfort or hunger pains, drink additional water. Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to the oolong tea to add some flavor if desired. Princess Kathy is a certified nutrition and fitness consultant. Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Facial Hair! - part 1 Hello my dear readers, we continue from where we stopped last week but this time its on the home remedies to get rid of facial hair. Every woman wants her face to look beautiful, soft and smooth and without any facial hair. Growth of facial hairs is natural. However, when there is excess growth of hair on neck, chin, on the upper lips, cheeks or forehead and worst the chest, it causes embarrassment and it affects the confidence of the person. The reason for excess growth of facial hair includes changes in hormonal levels in the body, irregular menstrual cycle, some medications and due to hormonal changes during pregnancy. The home remedies are the best method to remove facial hair as they are easily available and are without any side-effects. Due to popular demand i delved quite deep in this issue and as a result will be a 3 part issue.

Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Facial Hair There are many natural ingredients available in your kitchen, which can be used for effective facial hair removal. Though it takes some time to show the effect of the treatment, they will not damage your skin and are cost effective. Here are some of the home remedies for removing facial hair.

1. Gelatin Peel-off Mask

One of the easiest and the best remedies to pull off unwanted facial hair in an instant is to use gelatin face mask. This can be easily done at home. Though the gelatin face mask can be a bit messy and smelly too, the result that this face mask offers makes you feel that it is worth trying. You can add a few drops of lemon juice to suppress the smell of gelatin. You can try out a few essential oils as well. It is important for you to keep your eyes and eyebrows away from this face peel-off mask. Ingredients • 1 tablespoon of gelatin (unflavored) • 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk • Lime juice (3 to 4 drops) (or) • Lavender essential oil about 1 to 2 drops Method In a small bowl, add milk, unflavored gelatin and lime juice or lavender essential oil. You will find that your wanted facial hair and blackheads peel off from your face and stick on to the dried mask.

2. Apricot and Honey Facial Scrub

Apricot is a fruit that is rich in vitamins and minerals and also has rich concentrations of lycopene. It is found to be very effective in removing facial hair. Honey has the properties of making your skin soft. Ingredients • Half a cup of dried apricots • One teaspoon of honey Procedure * Grind the dried apricot in a blender to make a coarse powder. TERI Speaks Good day Teri, Thanks for giving this topic light, I am female, and I have been battling with bumps and dark underarms for about 2yrs and counting. I don’t even know where I went wrong. Please I would like to know what is accessible to an average Nigerian woman with regards to shaving sticks and cream. Thank you. H

3. Lavender and Tea Tree Oil Mix

There are many women who suffer from unwanted hair growth on their chin and breast. This mainly due to a condition called hirsutism, where hair develops on the androgen dependent areas of a woman. It is found that mixture of lavender and tea tree oil effectively helps in curing mild idiopathic hirsutism in women. This means that lavender and tea tree oils have anti-androgenic properties and hence when applied on the face can help in removing unwanted hair. Process * Mix one teaspoon of lavender oil with 4-6 drops of tea-tree oil * Apply this mixture of oil on facial hair using a cotton ball * Repeat this remedy 2-3 times a day for at least 3 months to remove the facial hair completely. Dear H, Thanks for writing in. Hope you were able to find a solution to questions from the following Sunday’s article which had preventative steps to dark pits. I always say avoid too much use of hair removing creams and eventually you will notice that your under arms will start to lighten. These hair removing agents contain acids that can darken the skin. Let me know how you get on. And keep writing in! Best wishes, Ms Mendes. September 13, 2015 /

You can apply it either on the areas where unwanted hair growth is visible or on your whole face. * Never apply it very close to your eyes or eyebrows. * You can remove the gelatin mask from your face after 5 minutes as it would have dried off completely by then. * Peel it off completely.

Apricot has to be mixed with another ingredient honey to make an excellent facial scrub that will help in getting rid of unwanted hair on the face as well as to cleanse the face. Honey has the properties of making your skin soft. Ingredients • Half a cup of dried apricots • One teaspoon of honey Procedure * Grind the dried apricot in a blender to make a coarse powder. Make sure that it is not too coarse.

That’s it for today my readers! Hope you enjoyed this piece! Remember you read it here first!

MOST EXPENSIVE VODKAS IN THE WORLD

When it comes to luxury, the alcohol industry has it nipped in a bud. It’s a remarkable moment when one switches from drinking vodka that tastes like mentholated spirit to drinking premium vodka; it’s like a step toward adulthood. That said, there’s another barrier separating the average person drinking Grey Goose and those who drop over $5,000 on a bottle without blinking an eye.

1

OVAL SWAROVSKI CRYSTAL VODKA

First released in 2008, this high-end vodka was only found at night clubs attended by the crème de la crème and for good reason. A person earning an average salary won’t spend seven grand on a bottle of booze he’ll finish that night. Adding to the grandeur, was the manner of display for the opulent bottle of booze; at $6922 this dazzling bottle of deliciousness is put on a rotating LCD display, allowing for the 7,000 Swarovski crystals to draw your attention.

2

BILLIONAIRE VODKA

Leon Verres’ “Billionaire Vodka” will set you back an astounding $3.7 million. This wheat based vodka is run through diamonds to remove impurities, and then this 5-liter bottle is adorned with 3,000 diamonds and faux fur. Although the name is contradictory to the price, this luxurious bottle of wine stands out above the rest.

IORDANOV VODKA

With 8,300 Swarovski crystals attached to it, the Iordanov does not come cheap. Coming in at $3,905, this appropriatelynamed Decadence Edition vodka, depicts high-class quality with its hand crafted crystal-lined bottles.

DIVA VODKA

Diva Vodka is crafted through a scrupulous distilling process. The manufacturers offer a bottle of the triple-distilled vodka for $3,700 but it isn’t as faultless as the Diva Vodka and doesn’t come fitted with precious stones. For all you high rollers, the premier bottle of Diva Vodka will set you back a cool million. Let that sink in for a second.

5

BELVER BEARS BELVEDERE VODKA

This teddy bear inspired bottle of vodka was first released in a limited edition at the VIP Room in Cannes, St. Tropez and Paris. At $7200 this delicious bottle of vodka is no joke.

6

RUSSO-BALTIQUE VODKA

The Russo-Baltique vodka is produced by car manufacturer Dartz’s RussoBaltique, and had reportedly retailed at $1.3 million. The bottle was created to mimic the classic design of Russo-Balt automobiles. And with a price like this, this bottle of booze is not for the meek minded.

Cauliflower is a member of the cruciferous family. This delicious vegetable is a favourite among vegetarians and has amazing health benefits such as improving blood pressure, brain function, digestion, detoxification and so on. Cauliflower can be prepared in several ways either as a main course meal or as a starter. Here are two easy recipes that you will love.

SMOKY ROASTED CAULIFLOWER Ingredients • 1 head cauliflower • 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil • 2 tsps smoked paprika • Salt Method: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Thoroughly rinse cauliflower, and then cut the head of cauliflower into four quarter slices, each quarter into 6-8 pieces. Take a pan and place flat surfaces on baking sheet, the flat surfaces caramelize best. The more caramelized, the tastier the cauliflower. Sprinkle the pieces evenly with 1 tbsp olive oil. Turn florets and sprinkle on other side. Sprinkle the cauliflower evenly with smoked paprika and salt to taste. Be generous with the salt-smoked paprika really sings when it’s combined with salt. Roast for 10 minutes. You will know it’s ready when it’s soft enough to pierce with a fork. Watch cauliflower diligently as it tends to cook fast.

“ONE PARTY AT A TIME!”

Radio One 103.5FM Inaugural Lecture By Oscar Ochiogu

Radio One 103.5FM, invited distinguished personalities to its inaugural lecture in furtherance of its anniversary celebration, which took place recently at the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs. Mr. John Momoh (OON) Chairman and C.E.O of Channels TV, was the inaugural guest speaker and delivered a paper with the theme, “The Relevance of an All-News radio station in a Digital Age”. Radio One 103.5FM has a rich history that mirrors radio broadcasting in Nigeria. Radio One changed name briefly in 2007 to Choice FM and took on Yoruba language as an additional language of broadcast. It reverted to its old name in 2012. A new dawn started, however, on 4th August, 2014, when the station replaced Yoruba, its second language of broadcast with Nigerian Pidgin English (NigP); and switched from a general format to an all-news, all-talk, all-sports station.

Method: Divide a head of cauliflower into pieces that are all roughly the same size. Steam cauliflower pieces over boiling water for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cauliflower is soft. Drain the cauliflower and toss it in a bowl of ice water to bring the cooking process to a screeching halt. When the cauliflower is cool, put the florets in a food processor along with 1/2 cup of water. Squash the cauliflower on high speed until smooth, but with some very small pieces of cauliflower remaining in the mix for just a bit of texture. Pour all of the pureed cauliflower into a medium sauce pan. Dissolve the corn starch in the remaining 1/4 cup of water and add the solution to the cauliflower. Add the cream, salt, white pepper, garlic powder and onion powder to the cauliflower and stir. Set the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring often, for 5 to 10 minutes, or until thick. Serve with breadsticks, bun or as main dish. Email: pamela.echemunor@gmail.com, Instagram: @nanya2207, Twitter @nanya2207.
