BELOVED MOTHER & GRANDMOTHER • DEVOTED SISTER • LOVING DAUGHTER • TREASURED FRIEND
On June 16, 2026, God saw that you were growing weary and gently whispered, "Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord." Matthew 25:23; Ms. Sherry Denise McMurry, affectionately known as "Shan" by her family and friends, was born on November 19, 1976, to the late Bobbye Ann McMurry and Clarence Edward McMurry. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, where she began her walk of faith.
Sherry never met a stranger. Known for her warm smile, kind heart, and generous spirit, she was the type of person who would literally give you the shirt off her back. She dedicated 20 years of service to Walmart before pursuing her dream of entrepreneurship. Alongside her family, she helped establish and operate a trucking company, continuing to work diligently until her health began to decline.
On June 16, 2026, Sherry peacefully answered God's call and transitioned from this earthly life at Panola Medical, Batesville, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bobbye Ann McMurry; her brothers, Robert Craig Miles, Matthew Clayton McMurry, and her twin brother, Eric McMurry; and her grandparents, Annie Pearl Miles and Buddy "G.D." Miles.
Sherry leaves to cherish her precious memories her devoted companion of 23 years, William Lamar; two loving daughters, Alexis D. Wright and Mariah J. Lamar; and her beloved granddaughter, Amani Hall; her father, Clarence E. McMurry; her bonus parents, Shirley Hardin, Terry Ferrell, and Margaret and Larry Rudd; three three brothers, Paul Miles (Charmine), Mark McMurry (Peter), and Jamie Metcalf (Tiffany); her sister, Marlene McMurry; and bonus brother, Devontae Turner. Sherry held a special place in her heart for her nephews, Jonathan McMurry and Antonio Wheatley, whom she lovingly raised as her own; her sister in law, Teresa Hubbard McMurry; her aunts Linda Sullivan, Lizzie Turner, Brenda Goss, Alice Houston, Margaret Odhiambo (Brian), Thelma Chapman, Linda Faye Sanford, Sallye House, and Emma House; and her uncles, James Miles, Stacey Miles (Laquita), George Davis Miles, and Todd Miles . She also leaves a host of cousins, friends and bonus cousins, and co-workers whom she loved dearly. Though our hearts are saddened by her departure, we rejoice in knowing that Sherry's legacy of love, generosity, strength, and compassion will live on through all those whose lives she touched.

We lost a mother with a heart of gold, How much we miss her can never be told, She shared our troubles and helped us along, If we follow her footsteps, we will never go wrong. The Broken Chain
We little knew the day that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death, we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories. Your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again
