A MESSAGE FROM JAKE KERR & JEFF MOONEY Welcome to Nat Bailey Stadium. This season we are celebrating 44 years of Vancouver Canadians Baseball as we welcome both you and our “Boys of Summer” back once again to historic Nat Bailey Stadium. 2022 is set to be a remarkable year in many ways. First and foremost, C’s baseball is back at The Nat for the first time since August 2019. So much has happened between now and then; the global pandemic wiped out the 2020 season and we spent all of 2021 playing away from home. There were times when we were not sure what the future would hold, but as caretakers of your professional baseball team we remain steadfast in our commitment to the ballclub, to you, the fans, and to this wonderful community. We cannot tell you just how excited and grateful we are to be back home. Through it all, we strive to create what we feel is the best sports experience not just in Vancouver, but in all of Minor League Baseball. We hope by the end of today’s game, you’ll agree with us. Team president Andy Dunn and his staff have been working tirelessly to ensure that our return to Nat Bailey Stadium gives you any number of opportunities to create new and lasting memories with your colleagues, friends, and loved ones. We have continued our important work through the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Foundation. Over 300 local children will join our program this year and we look forward to getting back out in the local community through a multitude of commitments that we proudly honour. We hope that you will continue to support our team and our community alongside us. Enjoy the game and thank you for choosing to spend your time with us. We are proud to showcase the future stars of the Toronto Blue Jays for you and hope that today is another chance for you to create a memory with us all summer long. MAJORITY OWNER, MANAGING GENERAL PARTNER Born and raised in Vancouver, Jake Kerr attended the University of British Columbia before completing his MBA in Economics and Finance at the University of California at Berkeley. A Canadian business icon, Mr. Kerr has been the recipient of the Order of Canada and Order of British Columbia for his remarkable contributions to both our country and province. Taking ownership of the Canadians back in 2007, Mr. Kerr has led the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club to eight (8) franchise attendance records, multiple Larry McPhail Awards for excellence within the Northwest League, and Minor League Baseball’s most coveted accolade - the John H. Johnson President’s Trophy, awarded to MiLB’s most complete franchise.

ANDY DUNN

PRESIDENT Andy Dunn has been with the Vancouver Canadians since 2007, helping guide Canada's only affiliated Minor League Baseball franchise to a number of national accolades including the coveted John H. Johnson President's Trophy (2013) presented to the most complete franchise in MiLB - marking the first time in the award's 40-year history that a Canadian-based organization received the honour. Known by many in the baseball world, Andy has twice been named Florida State League Executive of the Year (1999, 2000) and also Northwest League Executive of the Year (2008), and has helped the Canadians reach new heights with 10 Northwest League awards during his tenure in Vancouver including multiple John H. Johnson & Larry MacPhail Awards

JEFF MOONEY

CO-OWNER In addition to his valuable contributions to the Vancouver Canadians, Jeff Mooney is Chairman Emeritus and a major shareholder of A&W Food Services of Canadians Inc. Today, A&W is a strategy-driven organization that has grown to over 1,000 locations across Canada. A&W has been recognized as one of the 50 Best Managed Companies in Canada for the past 10 consecutive years, and in 2008, it was honoured to become an official member of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Platinum Club. Mr. Mooney is an alumnus of both the University of Saskatchewan and Harvard University Graduate School of Business. In 2003, Mr. Mooney received Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee Medal and three years later was inducted into the Restaurant Hall of Fame(2006). In 2016, Mr. Mooney was inducted into the B.C. Business Laureates Hall of Fame and this year received the Order of Canada

TOM BACKEMEYER

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT Tom, who most recently served as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Lancaster Jethawks 2014-2021. The Jethawks were the sister organization to the Vancouver Canadians held under the same ownership group of Jake Kerr and Jeff Mooney. The native of Lincoln, Nebraska has a vast background in Minor League Baseball as prior to his arrival in Lancaster, Backemeyer helped develop franchises in Nashville, Rancho Cucamonga, Fresno, and Everett. He is a graduate of Colorado State University (BA) with an MBA from the University of Denver.

ALLAN BAILEY

GENERAL MANAGER Allan Bailey has been with the Vancouver Canadians since 2007 and was appointed General Manager on September 5th, 2018, after spending the previous seven seasons as the organization's Assistant General Manager. Allan has led several departments during his tenure with the C's including the Nat Bailey Stadium Box Office and its ticket operations as well as his more recent efforts in Team Operations handling everything from player housing and travel right through to Information Technology (IT). Born in Victoria, B.C., and raised on the Lower Mainland's Sunshine Coast, Allan completed his education at McGill University while playing five seasons with the McGill Redbirds baseball program. Prior to university, Allan played for the NorthShore Twins of the B.C. Premier League

WALTER COSMAN

VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES & MARKETING With more than 20 years of Sales& Marketing experience here in Vancouver, Walter decided to put those skills to work in the sport he's most passionate about, baseball. With a B.A. from the University of New Brunswick, Walter has worked with Proctor & Gamble, Molson Canda, Granville Island Brewing and Steamworks Brewing. Walter was also General Manager of Petcurean leading a staff of more than70 people. With a longstanding corporate partnership with the Canadians prior to his arrival in May of 2019, Walter joins our club fully aware of the standard that has put the C's among the best in Minor League Baseball

STEVEN MAISEY

MANAGER OF TICKETING OPERATIONS Steven enters his third season with the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club, and his first as Manager of Ticket Operations. After graduating from Langara College with a diploma in Recreation Leadership Management, and interning for the Vancouver Whitecaps, Steven began his career with the Canadians on the operations side of the club, spending the two seasons (2018 – 19) as a member of the A&B Tools Rental Grounds Crew. Steven transitioned into his current role as Manager of Ticket Operations in January 2020, and looks to maintain the service standards that fans have come to expect of the Canadians. In the offseason, Steven volunteers his time as a skills coach for the Vancouver Thunderbirds Minor Hockey. 10 / VANCOUVER CANADIANS 2022

STEPHANI ELLIS

ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER Returning for her seventh season with the Vancouver Canadians Stephani handles a wide variety of key organizational elements including Group Sales as well as the C's social media platforms. She was promoted to Assistant General Manager role prior to the 2019 season and was the recipient of the 2019 Northwest League Female Executive of the Year for her work with the C's. After a standout collegiate softball career at California University of PA where Stephani played for the Vulcans and was named a Regional All-American, the Prince of Wales Secondary graduate and former Team BC member began her marketing career with the Canadians. Stephani works in concert with group leaders who expect the Canadians to provide an excellent ballpark experience with each visit out at Nat Bailey Stadium.

BRENDA CHMILIAR

FINANCIAL CONTROLLER Brenda is entering her 15th season out at Nat Bailey Stadium but her second as Financial Controller for the Vancouver Canadians. She spent the first 10 years with Aramark Food Services in the company's financial division, dividing her time between at Nat Bailey Stadium and Rogers Arena. Brenda is responsible for all aspects of the Vancouver Canadians financial operations. She is right at home here at Nat Bailey Stadium, as much of her childhood was spent playing baseball on the local fields in Kamloops

CHARLENE YAROSHUK

ACCOUNTING COORDINATOR Charlene is excited to be entering her 4th season with the Vancouver Canadians as their Accounting Coordinator. In 2020 she graduated from Kwantlen Polytechnic University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. Growing up in the Vancouver area she spent most of her free time practicing martial arts and currently has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

TYLER ZICKEL

MANAGER OF BROADCASTING & MEDIA RELATIONS Tyler joined the Canadians in 2021 for his fourth season in the Blue Jays organization and seventh in MiLB. Before the C's, Tyler served as the Director of Promotions & Entertainment and Road Radio Broadcaster for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Over the course of three seasons in Manchester, he oversaw the entire in-game presentation and promotions departments while traveling throughout the Eastern League calling 'Cats games. He began his MiLB career in 2014 as a communications intern for the Advanced-A Lake Elsinore Storm in Southern California and was promoted twice in three years. As Assistant Director of Marketing and Director of Digital Content, respectively, Tyler was heavily involved in growing the team's online presence.

CHARLES O'NEILL

MANAGER OF STADIUM OPERATIONS Charles joins the Canadians in 2022 after working for a variety for baseball clubs including the Long Island Ducks, and the New York Mets. He brings a wealth of knowledge from his prior experiences to Nat Bailey Stadium. He previously completed his Bachelors of Sports Management from Farmingdale State College in New York.

He earned his B.A. in English from Whittier College in Los Angeles, where he played on the Poets baseball team and was elected Student Body President.

KENDRA CHIN

MARKETING COORDINATOR Kendra joins the C’s Marketing department for her first full season of baseball. She has recently completed a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with specialization in Marketing and Human Resource Management. Prior to joining the team at The Nat, she worked for several years in the health & fitness industry. Her goal is to intertwine her passion for sports with her business background. In her spare time, she is coaching basketball to inner city kids. This Vancouverite also likes spending her free time playing basketball, tennis, golf, and skiing.

LEVI WEBER

HEAD GROUNDSKEEPER Levi is no stranger to the Northwest League, with prior experience with the Spokane Indians as their Head Groundskeeper at Avista Stadium. His talents have also allowed him to be the field manager for the Los Angeles Dodgers at the Spring Training Facility in Arizona. The Colton, WA native graduated from Washington State University with a Double Major in Turfgrass Management and Fruit and Vegetable Management and two minors in Horticulture and Agricultural Systems. In his time away from the ballpark, you can find him on the golf course, weight training or enjoying time with family and friends.

Joining the club for the 2016 season, Jacob began his time with the C’s in the Box Office, first as a Ticket Sales Representative, then as Box Office Assistant, with his transition to sales coming at the conclusion of the 2021 season.

After graduating from Brock University in St. Catharines ON with a degree in Sport Management, Owen completed an internship for a local athlete representation company doing sales and marketing prior to the start of the

Jacob graduated from the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan in 2021 with a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance. When Jacob’s away from the Nat, you can find him watching Blue Jays baseball, Seahawks football, or, if he’s lucky, ice fishing in Saskatchewan.

SALES ASSOCIATE Owen enters his first season with the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club as a Sales Associate.

He brings a great deal of passion for sports and customer service to the team. In his spare time, Owen loves reading books, working out, and spending his summertime at Kitsilano Beach, a 5 min walk from his apartment.

LANE DEPLAEDT

SALES ASSOCIATE Cooper is a former Langley Blaze pitcher, took his talents south of the border to play for both Galveston College and at Central Washington University. He graduated from CWU with a Sports Management degree with a specialization in Business. Prior to joining the Canadians, he was a member of the Ground Crew at Northview Golf & Country Club.

SALES ASSOCIATE Lane joins the C’s for his first season in Minor League Baseball after recently working with the Coquitlam Express Junior A Hockey Club in Game Day Operations. He is recently graduated from Thompson Rivers University with a bachelor’s or Business Administration with a Major in Marketing.

While away from the ballpark he enjoys spending time in his hometown of Port Moody or playing golf.

Each week, our own Ben Steiner sits down with a C’s player to find out more about the path that brought them to The Nat. This week: pitcher Sem Robberse Canada and the Netherlands have a special connection. Canadian forces liberated the country in World War II, and to this day, the country donates tulips to Canada for the Ottawa Tulip Festival as thanks. With such connections between the two nations, it seems only fitting that Dutch-born pitcher Sem Robberse would be developing in the lone Canadian baseball organization and playing for the Vancouver Canadians. There are just two players from The Netherlands to play over 500 innings in MLB -- Bert Blyleven and Didi Gregorius. Despite the nation’s two appearances in the semifinals of the World Baseball Classic, it isn’t known for producing elite-level talent. That, though, is something Robberse is trying to change. When Robberse, now 20, was six, he left swimming lessons with his mother and saw a baseball field across the street from the swimming pool. With a father who had played the game at a high level in Europe, Robberse went over to the diamond and hasn’t looked back since. “I wanted to go over and see if I liked it or not, and I did end up liking it,” Robberse told CanadiansBaseball.com. “When I got home, my dad pulled out a box of baseball stuff, and that made it even more fun.”

“It’s nice and relaxed because everybody is doing it for fun there,” Robberse said. “It’s still a lot of fun over here, but it is a little different because it is about careers and everything around that.” Sem began playing in local leagues at an early age, and by 11, he’d been invited to visit one of the few baseball academies in the Netherlands. Playing at showcases around Europe, scouts began to notice Robberse, including the Blue Jays, who signed him as a free agent in July 2019. Just a few weeks after pitching his final game for Amersfoort Quick, his club in Honkbal Hoofdklasse, the Netherlands’ top division, he was in North America playing for the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays. “Everything was bigger in the USA, more roads, more grocery stores, more cars, it’s the Netherlands like three times bigger, but I liked it a lot,” Robberse said of coming across the Atlantic. “You see many things that many people from the Netherlands won’t see, and the experiences have been great so far.” After thriving with the GCL Blue Jays in 2019 and not pitching in 2020, Robberse advanced to the Dunedin Blue Jays and the Canadians in 2021, staying on in High-A through 2022, where he has an ERA of 3.08 through 63 innings pitched.

OBBERSE Raymond Robberse had played baseball until he was 20, making it to the pre-selection process for the national team before hanging up his glove.

It didn’t take long for Robberse to begin playing, often with his father in the stands, and in his first few years, his younger brother also began playing. In a country often dominated by a size-5 soccer ball, the Robberse family fixated upon a diamond and a nine-inch diameter baseball. In the Netherlands, there isn’t the same atmosphere around baseball as in North America. While some adult leagues pay, the cash is far less than anything in North America, and often games are just a few times a week.

While his first season with the C’s all came south of the border in Hillsboro, the move to Vancouver was special. “It’s a lot like the Netherlands, except there are more mountains here,” he said.

“The city, the houses, and especially the amount of people who are on a bike, or walking and running is very similar to the Netherlands, so it kind of feels the same even though it is a lot different too.” Although Vancouver feels at home in some ways, the 20-year-old still finds his way in a new country, playing without his family or girlfriend in the stands. Still, they watch many of his games online, none more so than his father and grandpa, who are his biggest fans.

Robberse, ranked 7th among Toronto’s prospects per MLB Pipeline, knows he still has a distance to go to get to the major leagues, but he is thriving in the minor leagues, playing in an organization that is near fitting for a young man from the Netherlands. VANCOUVER CANADIANS 2022 / 17

That means they are in the middle of the Toronto farm system, slightly higher than the Dunedin Blue Jays (Low A) and the Gulf Coast Blue Jays (Rookie). HOW TO SCORE A BASEBALL GAME Different fans have different methods of keeping a scorecard, and many use their own notations. But here's a simple method:

If a runner scores, put a circle at the bottom of the box, and inside the circle put the symbol of the play and/or the player that drove him in. For example, if the No. 5 hitter drives in two runs with a single, mark his single in the bottom right of his box and mark a circle with the number "5" in the boxes of the runners who score (Some people like to use uniform numbers here, so you can tell who did what, even after lineup changes).

For example, If the hitter grounds out to shortstop, for example, write in "6-3," which shows the shortstop threw him out at first base. If the hitter flies out to left field, write a "7." If the batter gets a hit, write in the hit according to which base he reached. Each corner of the box represents a base, with the lowerright corner being first.

At the end of each inning, total the hits and runs for that inning only. At the end of the game you'll be able to add the innings total to get the game score.

If he singles, put a "-" in the lower right. If he doubles, write a "=" in the upper right, and so on. For a walk, use "BB" in the lower right. As the runner advances, mark the appropriate symbol in the appropriate corner.

Each week, we’ll feature a conversation between Niall O’Donohoe of C’s Plus Baseball and one member of the Canadians roster. Niall caught up with catcher Anthony Morales to find out more about his past, what he’s working on this season and how his first Nat Bailey Stadium experiences have been. The Aibonito, Puerto Rican spent the majority of his baseball career in his native country, playing high school ball at the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy until 2016. He then went to junior college at Lake Land in Mattoon, Illinois and spent two seasons there. In 70 games with the Lakers, Morales hit three home runs and drew a walk nearly nine percent of the time. Morales added a Canadian stamp to his passport in September of 2018 by taking part in Tournament 12 in Toronto. He suited up for Prairies Purple where he batted .400 with two doubles, two singles and two walks. Toronto would be in Morales’ future again when the Blue Jays signed the switch-hitting backstop to a freeagent contract on June 25, 2019. Just days later, Morales was assigned to the Bluefield Blue Jays of the Appalachian League, picking up his first professional hit with a single against the Burlington Royals June 30 to begin a sixgame hitting streak. Morales’ first two-hit game came against the Kingsport Mets July 31. Due to COVID, Morales’ full-season debut was delayed until 2021. Playing time was sporadic for the 6-foot-0, 175-pound backstop but he recorded hits in four of six games with the Dunedin Blue Jays in July, including a pair of doubles against the Tampa Tarpons July 11.

Morales was summoned up to Triple-A Buffalo—or more specifically Trenton—to play for the Bisons as the team was relocated to make room for the Toronto Blue Jays in Western New York. He singled off the first pitch he saw from former Florida/ Miami Marlins hurler Alex Sanabia in his Herd debut against the Syracuse Mets July 24. Morales had a base hit in all three games he played for Buffalo before being reassigned to Vancouver/ Hillsboro. During his time with the C’s, Morales collected his first hit and walk and scored two runs in Hillsboro August 27. He had another single in his final game with the C’s against Spokane September 10. Morales was on the move again as he was promoted to Double-A New Hampshire for the season finale. He went 1-for-3 and scored the Fisher Cats final run of the season in a win over the Harrisburg Senators September 19. VANCOUVER CANADIANS 2022 / 35

Morales returned home to Puerto Rico in the offseason and played in the Roberto Clemente Winter League for a team called RA12, a squad created by former Toronto Blue Jay Roberto Alomar for young professional players to match up against the more experienced competition in the league. Morales held his own with the bat by putting up a .323 on-base percentage over nine games. Battling Zach Britton and Andrés Sosa for playing time with Vancouver in 2022, Morales did get a hit in his first three games of the season and recorded a hit in six straight contests July 1728, He had a two-run single in Hillsboro to kickstart a seven-run second inning in a win over the Hops June 23. The 23 year-old then went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and an RBi single two days later against the Hops. Morales then made his first professional appearance at first base and got a double in his lone at-bat in the June 26 series finale at Ron Tonkin Field. Being at first base was not a totally foreign concept for Morales as he did play one game with RA12 last winter. Another first for Morales—and it came against the Hops again— was his first career triple at Nat Bailey Stadium July 16. In his next start, Morales was 2-for-4 with a double in Spokane July 22. He also had a hit and a walk against Everett July 26. C’s Plus Baseball caught up with Morales during the team’s Canada Day homestand against Spokane. This interview has been edited for clarity and length. C’s Plus Baseball – Let’s talk about how you got started in baseball. You were born in Puerto Rico. How did your career begin? Anthony Morales – Just started when I was four years old with my dad. He likes all the sports so he was around my community. I grow up around all the sports but baseball was, I think, the most fun that I had. So that’s how I started. A lot of different teams during my career. That’s when I started. My family likes baseball. In Puerto Rico, everybody likes baseball. CPB – When did you start catching? AM – From the first time. My dad gave me catcher equipment and my brother (Kevin Morales) was a catcher too. He never signed (professionally) but he played so he was my inspiration to be a catcher too. CPB – Where did you go in high school? AM – I went to the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy. That’s the place where everything began, like how baseball really works, about how the coach worked. How the work that you need to put in to be a professional or to be a college guy. I think that was the base now to be here. CPB – What would you say was your best baseball memory or your best game growing up in Puerto Rico? AM – We celebrated for the first time starting a game between the two baseball academies there, the Carlos Beltran Academy and the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy. And we celebrated Roberto Clemente Day to recognize all the stuff that he do. So we play in the big field in Puerto Rico, Hiram Bithorn (Stadium) and it was packed. That was a dream come true and to have his number on my back too was so inspirational. Another thing in my career was last year, (to) be around all the teams in the (Blue Jays) organization. That was a great experience. CPB – Let’s start at the top with Buffalo. What was that like playing

for the Bisons? AM – That was crazy. I was nervous. I was in Dunedin and they called me up to help (for) like two weeks. That was crazy. A lot of major (league) guys there. I was (keeping an) open mind, trying to get everything I can and learn so I (gained) a lot of knowledge. My first game was with (Tommy) Milone, left-handed pitcher. We won that game. I get my first hit. Yeah. that was a great experience. CPB – New Hampshire. Was it a huge difference for you from Double-A to Triple-A? AM – I think the difference is about experience. Mainly more major league guys obviously in Triple-A. So when I got to Double-A, I feel like it was family. The main thing was to play the game. Got my first hit too there the last week of the season last year so that was a great experience to be there. CPB – Dunedin. What was your experience like playing there? AM – Dunedin was fantastic. That’s where I started last year. A lot of things that I learned there, I think were more on the mental side. How I can work with the game? How I can control all the situations on the catching side, offensive side, defensive side? I think the staff did a really good job. I can go to the games and enjoy it more. Be more in the present, relax and control what I can control in the moment. CPB – You were with the Vancouver Canadians last year, but of course, you were not playing here but what was that like for you playing in Hillsboro and all the talk that maybe you would’ve come back here to play? What was that experience like for you? AM – When they told us maybe (there was) a chance to be here last year, I was excited like, ‘Oh, we go to Canada’. But yeah, just with the uniform that says ‘Canadians’, that was fantastic. And I was excited to be here because I heard about this place and about the city so now we’re here and this is awesome. This is awesome. CPB – So what you heard (about Vancouver), everything was true? AM – Oh yeah. 100 percent. CPB – What’s your favourite part about being a catcher? AM – Throwing out the runners! That’s the fun part. That fires me up. One thing that I feel is help the pitchers and be around the guy. It’s not easy to be on the mound in different kinds of situations. So I just (help them) be relaxed and control the game. They have the ball so they don’t throw the ball, we don’t play. Just relax, be in the moment and execute. So that’s one of the things I must be thinking about. CPB – Things are coming around with you with the bat. A six-game hitting streak, what’s been the key to your success? AM – Yeah, I think the thing was I was thinking too much maybe because I do some adjustments during the off-season. So that adjustment got in my mind and I’m thinking, ‘Oh, I can’t forget this. I can forget this.’ So that was maybe (why) I was struggling a little bit. And then I just talk with Ryan (Canadians hitting coach Ryan Wright) and Ryan helped me a lot to just focus on your pitch. And we talk about the (other team’s starting) pitcher that day, like ‘Hey, this will be the approach that we can go with’. So that’s what I’m doing right now, just in my approach, the stuff of the pitcher and just get the bat to work. CPB – How do you prepare as a switch-hitter? Do you spend more time on one side or the other, or you try to split it up evenly? VANCOUVER CANADIANS 2022 / 37

AM – Yeah. I try to split it every day but I think I even got more time (on the) left side because we got more (righthanded) pitchers. I started (switch-hitting) in my junior year. I was kind of nervous with that, but year, I was feeling that I can hit in both sides.

He’s combined the fastball with the slider and changeup. I think one of the things that I focus with him is be relaxed on the mound. because sometimes he hurry up. Yeah. So when I try to relax him, I know he’s going to throw better pitches and he’ll be pretty good.”

CPB – So was that junior year in high school or college?

Yosver Zulueta – “Zulu, same thing, Guys can see his performance, big leaguers. That’s my words for those guys. Big leaguer. Zulu is a guy that like to work hard. He get some injury last year and he came back stronger. Zulu has really good stuff too. Fastball is 98, 97, he touch 100 (miles per hour). So I think those guys are going to help this organization a lot. Great pitchers.”

AM – High school. CPB – So how did you wind up with the Blue Jays? AM – I went to college for a year-and-a-half. Because I got a injury in my wrist so I just missed a half of my last year. I missed my fall season. So I went for the last year (in the) spring. And then I came back to home (for) a year. One day, the Alomars had some tryouts in Puerto Rico and I went to one of those tryouts and that was a really good performance for me. And (Sandy Alomar Jr.) always was supporting me. So one day I went to the Dominican for some tryouts. That was when everything happened. They signed me, they sent me to Florida, Florida to Bluefield. A week after I signed, they sent me to Bluefield and I was like, ‘What is going on here?’ So, yeah, that was my first year. CPB – How was that experience in Bluefield? AM – Oh, that was crazy. You know, first year, I didn’t know what (to expect) in professional baseball here. Yeah, it was a lot of things that I learned that first year. Now I can work with everything. Anthony also took the time to share his insights on some of the pitchers on the 2022 Vancouver Canadians. Ricky Tiedemann – “Oh, he’s nasty. That guy, he got a future. He got a big future. I can see this man, like in the big leagues right now. 38 / VANCOUVER CANADIANS 2022

Sem Robberse – “Another one, this guy have a little more stuff. He got like four pitches and he can command pretty good. And his last performance here (June 28 vs Spokane -5.0 IP/2R) was outstanding because he got something in his nail so he couldn’t spin at his slider and his breaking ball and he never quit. He just told me that we going to go throw fastball and changeup. And he got like five innings just throwing fastball and change. And that was impressive for me. So he quit those two pitches and just started throwing fastball and change. And that was an outstanding job.” Chad Dallas – “Oh, Cheese! That’s my guy! Another one. Guys that when they are on the mound, you can feel we got another one here because they have really good stuff. Cheese has got more experience because he went to University. So they know a little bit more about this. I don’t have to work too much with him about staying relaxed so he’s not worried about it. So we are always in communication. Really good stuff too. Another guy that has a great future.”

ADDISON BARGER After leading the Canadians in nearly every offensive category through the first three months of the season and with his name still on the Northwest League leaderboard three weeks after graduating from the circuit, Barger has somehow gotten even better since make it to the upper Minors. As of July 31, he’s slashing .455/.516/.745/.1.261 with four doubles, four homers, 11 runs scored and nine RBI in 15 games while averaging one

walk for every two strikeouts. The Everett, WA native had a hit in nine of his last ten games as of this writing, including a fourhit showing on July 30 at Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton, NY. Barger, 22, was Toronto’s sixth-round pick (176th overall) in 2018 out of King High School in Tampa, FL. He owns a career .266 batting average in 892 Minor League at-bat over four seasons.
