Our program is designed for students from any background to succeed — whether you’re advancing in the IT field or making a career change. With small class sizes and one-on-one faculty mentorship, you’ll work closely with professors who bring robust industry and academic experience, ensuring personalized guidance throughout your graduate journey. Flexible enrollment options allow you to pursue your degree full-time, completing it in as few as four semesters, or part-time, with up to five years to finish your coursework. In addition, this STEM-designated degree enables international students to apply for up to three years of Optional Practical Training (OPT)

In the program, you’ll develop technical expertise and a strong foundation in ethics to guide you as a leader in today’s evolving technology landscape. Coursework spans programming, data analytics, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), user experience design, and more. All students complete a capstone project tailored to their academic and career goals and have opportunities to participate in research.
If you’re looking to build IT skills from a non-technical background, Valpo also offers a 15-credit IT Fundamentals Certificate that provides a strong foundation in essential technologies. Available 100% online or in person, the certificate can serve as a starting point, and students can seamlessly transfer into the information technology master’s program, creating a clear pathway into the field.

*Additional graduate courses may be approved by the student’s advisor from IT, Cybersecurity (CYB), or Computer Science (CS). No more than 9 credits of elective classes outside of IT, CYB, or CS classes can apply toward the degree.
**Completion of a thesis requires an additional 3 credits beyond the required 36 credits, for a total of 39 credits.
